Great review! And you are not wrong. The ANC is extremely close to the Sony's but the biggest thing for these is the sound quality. These are so much better than the Sony's as nothing is muffled soundstage is great and all frequencies are fantastic. I picked the Lagoon's as my go to after having the Sony's, and the Sennheiser Momentums. I never liked the Bose sound quality so only tested them but never spent the cash on them. If it sound quality you want, these are the way to go in my mind. I cant wait for the day someone comes out with a good Planar Magnetic Wireless Headphone to try for sound quality.
It is possible to hook them up via USB to your phone or pc and listen that way. Theoretically you don't even have to carry the 3.5 mm cable around. Given that your phone is able to output to an USB DAC. Also you can pair the Lagoon to two devices simultanously. I have the headphone paired to my smartphone and notebook and can switch between them if i just pause the music playback of the primary device. The manual tells you how the priority is determined on connection. IMO LDAC is a big marketing trick to show nice numbers because the higher bandwidth is used for 24 bits and 96 kHz sample rate which is pretty much useless. If the higher bandwidth would actually be used for a less lossy compression it would make sense to prioritize it. There are actually a few articles that showed how LDAC isn't performing better than the other codecs (like aptX and AAC) because the bandwidth is cut down if you get light interference. So you basically lose the "improvements" just because you put your smartphone in your pockets.
Making a 2021 round up of ANC BT headphones would be spectacular now that you have so much more experience with different headphones gaming-mid-high end. Including B&W PX7 , B&O H9 Mark3 , Sony XM4 , the big dogs. Maybe one day. 🤞

I still have the ANC Lagoon, loved it, but have had issues over the past six months with pairing, the dynamic intro sound and voice prompts no longer working. I see on social media that other people have had similar problems. I contacted Beyerdynamic who simply suggested I buy another (pricier) headset. Question: at this price range, shouldn't headsets be built to last longer and be repairable? These will be considerations for my next purchase.
Ditched Airpod Pro. High quality audio for sure! Super clean highs. It's still $299. Only complain is sound leakage is high even at 70% of volume. Hopefully, EQ comes out for future firmware update.

Automatic Pause & Resume Function When the user leans for audio is interrupted. THE MUSIC STOPS PLAYING! This is a feature that is as useless as it is annoying. The manual states that the feature can be bypassed if playback is initiated by the touch pad. It does serve to resume playback; however the feature is re-activated each time the user leans forward or bends over. Had I been aware of this asinine ‘feature’ I would not have even considered purchasing this product.

And was just wondering if you had known about them or heard of them. Edit: I forgot to mention that I only ask because I saw the SHP 9500 video but realized for my smaller head I’d need to replace the pads and for that I’d rather just spend more on another headset and Beyerdyanmic is held in high regards for audio so I was stoked to find they offer headphones with detachable cable (Custom Game.)
Curious if you managed to find a Bluetooth ANC set that hit the mark for you? I’ve heard the Bose, wasn’t impressed - own the Sonys and feel the bass is worse and harder to control than the Beyer. Have high hopes for the THX Pandas even though they have no ANC. Have you heard anything else out there that tops the Lagoon?
@@badseedtech The best I've heard yet were the b&w px but then again when you turn the nc on they become terrible. So no, the holy grail is yet to be found. There is still a huge leap between wired and Bluetooth - I don't know why. It shouldn't be the codecs. And nc is great for when you need it, but it seem to hurt sound quality quite a lot, doesn't it? I'd love to find a pair of comfortable and great sounding Bluetooth headphones. Curious about the p7 wireless but haven't heard them.

Oh absolutely. You get an easy like 24 hours with ANC1 and like almost 20 hours ANCII.
