    I live in California and surf almost every day before school. The beach breaks make it so that there's always something and the reefs turn on as soon as it gets over 2ft.

    Sometimes in the winter Portugal even has too much swell and too much wind, but there’s always a place to surf.
    In the Summer and around that there’s always lots of NW wind, specially in the evenings and sometimes fog in the morning. October/November/December are probably the best months and then January/February/March

    Hey Dan! here in Chile the north swells can create a true barrel fest on the left-hand point breaks, but only the high energy north swells arrive. The south swells of the Pacific are really busy on summer too, so even if there are no north swells, it's very unlikely to find a flat day.

    I lived on Oahu for 8 years. It definitely has what locals consider “flat spells” especially in the summer when those south swells get shadowed. Tourist will go out in any old junk to say they surfed Hawaii. But ther a plenty of times that no self-respecting local will go out. There are even periods on the North Shore during the winter, when locals stay home.

    😅really surprised he left off Mexico. a place like Rio Nexpa gets NW swells in winter Southern Hemi’s in Spring, Summer & Fall. AND hurricane swells. A massive swell window. If there’s a ANY storm in the Pacific, this area gets waves.

      @ramzitubbeh-fy8sz 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, I can attest as a Peruvian. Central and southern Peru are extremely consistent, with very few flat days in the summer. Northern Peru gets slightly smaller surf from south swells in the winter and receives good north swells in the summer. Also, northern Peru is not just consistent, but also world class.

    • @texassurfjournal
      @texassurfjournal 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ramzitubbeh-fy8szwhere would you recommend in Peru for the entire months of December and January? Near Chicama?

    • @ramzitubbeh-fy8sz
      @ramzitubbeh-fy8sz 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@texassurfjournal Your best shot would be northern Peru: Lobitos (intermediate/advanced) picks up swell from many directions; Cabo Blanco (experts only) and Mancora (intermediate surfers) pick up north swell. Chicama is in north-central Peru. It requires big swells, so I don't recommend it in the summer. Pacasmayo is just 1 hour north of Chicama--it's very long, a bit bigger, and more consistent, so not a bad choice. The surf just south of Lima (south central Peru) is reasonably consistent in the summer because it picks up even small south swells and the occasional big north swell. In any case you would have to fly to Lima, so maybe you can refine your plans once you're there, based on the forecast.

    Hawaii obviously has its days, although there are a lot more things that have to line up than you might think. A lot of the time the offshore wind is too strong to get a good surf in, and the swell direction matters a lot depending on the spot. I’ve lived in both California and Oahu and in terms of just consistency I’d say California takes the crown
