  • To get here drive approximately 20 km south of the bridge in Canmore. Park on the side of the road at Spencer Creek. If you see
    sparrowhawk day use area you have gone too far.
    Well not only did I get another 10,000 footer to add to the list but I got to see the Airplane wreckage on the descent which was really cool. This mountain had far better views than I thought it would for some reason. I guess I should have expected it. They were unreal!
    That being said, the grind up all the scree, especially after the NOTCH wasn't very much fun. There is actually very little scrambling on this mountain even though it is so big (If you are on the route I took). A little bit before the notch and a little bit on the final ascent to the summit. The views from Peak # 3 were even better than on Peak 2 IMO. Head down the drainage between Peak #3 and Wind Mountain and you will run into the airplane wreckage from years ago. Really cool!
    Mount Lougheed is a 3,107-metre (10,194-foot) triple-peak mountain located between Spray Lakes Reservoir and the Wind Valley of Kananaskis Country in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. The highest summit is Peak 2. Peak 1 is 3080 meters. Peak 3 is 3010 meters.
    Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area of no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skill and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.

    I'm moving to Alberta in three weeks. Why? So I can do this stuff on a regular basis. I can barely wait. Thanks for uploading this video two years ago.

    How long was your trip? Nugara gives a very generic timeframe for this scramble. Great video!

    • @HarlanFox--Scrambles
      @HarlanFox--Scrambles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for that! Well on a steady pace we summitted in 4 hours. We took our time coming down. I would say if you have a decent pace then 6.5-8.5 hours or so depending on your pace.

      Thanks Harlan. Yes Nugara says it’s difficult to the first peak, even more difficult to the true Summit. A climbers Scramble that looks pretty fun. This looks like a good route minus the scree although it seems stable.
