- In my opinion the most underrated villain in Eastenders, being the only guy ever to properly shake Phil and Grant up. Thank you ChrisHoy77 for uploading these clips
People need to think long-term here. "bUt WhY aRe ThEy ScArEd Of ThIs MaN?" The fact that he clearly had connections and could send his minions round to do shit for him was obviously the reason they played nice. It doesn't matter whether either one of them could end him in a physical fight; this isn't a schoolboy fight where that's the end of it; there are always repercussions. If that Jack Dalton was secretly a coward, but the fact that he ran a criminal empire meant everyone had to kiss his arse, then Jason was clearly capable of using his contacts to threaten everyone around him too. What do you reckon would've happened after Jason recovered from either Phil or Grant hypothetically beating him to a pulp? Oh that's right, an army of minions would be all over the Mitchells...

Grant was scared in prison the following year, got scared when he found out what Dougie was like and was also made to show respect to Milligan & Frasier.
He was really scared of Dalton and that's who Cox was working for.

I like how many people are so dismissive of how scared the Mitchell brothers where of him I dont think they like the fact Jason basically had them in his back pocket
The Mitchell brothers have been amazing characters. However there are quite a few fanboys going around who like to make out as if they were / are completely invincible, say that they could ‘batter’ large groups of other people even if completely outnumbered etc. It is pretty funny.
Then again in modern day Eastenders, if Mike Tyson or Superman rocked up in Walford, the writers would ensure that Phil came out on top against them.

The good thing is that they’ve limited Steve McFadden’s fighting time to make it more realistic.
Pretty sure these days if a storyline happened where a silverback gorilla escaped from London Zoo and went on a rampage round the square the writers would still have Phil KO it in one
Am i missing something lads....now I watched the Mitchell's from 1989 to 2006...they were useful....I ain't watched it since apart from 3 months in 2013....or when grant came back..but I saw enough to know grant had turned into William Hague and Phil was getting a slap quite frequently eg in prison...in that alley way when 5 hoodies do him in ..the black lad who does him....so are you ladies saying the last 8 years e"s suddenly invincible again??

In those days, the Mitchell brothers were small time. Anytime they tried to get involved in something big, it went wrong. Unlike these days, when you have King Phil and his so-called criminal "empire".
They were new to the criminal underworld. Took Phil years to build his reputation up. Grant however walked away from it when he moved to Brazil and then Portugal.
Think he actually swam all the way Portugal after a car crash lol.
The scripts was more real in these days.

Thing is about Jason Cox is that he was a fucking nutcase, absolutely fearless and nasty. Grant and Phil may have kicked the shit out of him but blokes like that always come back hard. He'd have gone straight for Sharon.
Jason Cox was someone that Phil and Grant definitively could not bully because Phil and Grant loved bullying people who crossed them and enjoyed bringing them down and making them look weak and powerless .
Yeah, he'd most likely would have had Peggy attacked at home or had men "do bad things" to Sam. He looks about as Threatening as Lofty but with his connections, he's someone you don't want to press your luck against.

When Jason Cox told the Mitchell Brothers to jump, they immediately responded "how high"? Even in the fictional EE, the Mitchell Brothers would be considered fairly small time villain's. They were both useful with their fists but it begins and ends there.
