could never get over how much like real brothers these two looked - gosh, I wish the BBC would relent and release these on DVD.
YES YES!! How I miss these episodes, how I miss these characters. I watched from 1991 to 2005, never missed an episode, but here in the states it was a couple of years behind, and not aired everywhere, only on paid public television. when I moved in 2005, I lost my show :( I haven't seen it since! I would pay ANYTHING to have the show on DVD

Not many Americans have heard of Eastenders?? I know BBC America used to show it & maybe PBS too.
The acting and the entire scene was brilliantly produced
"I'll tell you what love is - love is me not slamming your face through that wall. It's me not ripping down The Vic brick by brick while she's still in it. That's my love, brother!" The BBC would kill to have scriptwriters who have the skills to write dialogue even 5% as good as that these days. We the viewing public would kill for EastEnders in general to be as good as this today. This is television at its best. Shame I was only three when this storyline was on, but my parents and sister watched it at the time.

Grant Mitchell is the hardest man ever to step into Walford, he is the alpha male, the thuggish caveman of the Eastend and the ring leader of the Mitchell brothers. Grant is extremely extremely STRONG.

incredible acting, you can see the pain in grants eyes, he loved sharon so much and loved his brother so much, if it was anyone else he would've murdered the pair of them without talking. Phil definitely crossed the line.
I remember how shocked I felt when Grant remained so calm up until the point Phil goaded him.
This is seriously impressive acting, for EastEnders standards. There's been a dip in form lately, hopefully the Peggy storyline brings some drama and decent acting back to the show

grant was trained in the army and phil sort of learned some of his moves and the fact that grant was a big bloke with an extremely large temper meant he take any one down he lifted phil off the ground here threw him around the arches and he also lifted dennis and slammed him on a piano and took on more than 5 police so phil, derek, dan, dennis, jack, sean could never beat him he was absolute psycho

many tough guys have come and gone in EE but Grant is the toughest, he had the size and relentless endurance along with the look in the eyes all brutal fighters do, most are bullies who back down when met with there match grant was never backing down from anyone no matter what..........EE undisputed champion.....Grant Mitchell
In theory Jack is the toughest, he was in great shape, plus he was a boxer as well. Grant and Phil might have balls but in a fight Jack wouild whoop both of them.

@@bluebull399 Grant is way bigger than Jack, he may be a bit old but he's full of muscle and has military training. He would destroy Jack in a fight. Don't forget he had a close fight with Sean who was a weaker version of Grant.

@@bluebull399 absolute crap ,when was Jack a boxer ,it's been stated that both Phil and grant had boxed when they were young at good level ,as for grant ex parachute regiment so he would of been fitter then any point in jack's life .There's Being in shape and being fit(boot fit ,Bergen fit ect for military personnel) .Along with active combat which grant saw in Falklands as well as operation tours in Northern Ireland there is only one winner here at there respective primes. Don't get me wrong jack is handy and could take on alot of characters from the past but the Mitchell brothers when young were not one of them

It's very interesting how EastEnders keeps winning the best soap of the year award and yet if you look at a lot of EastEnders youtube videos 90% of people are saying very negative things about the show now.

grant had the physcal strength speed and stamina to lift someone off the ground he this scene and the one with eddie royle was when he truly lost control of his temper he also picked up dennis walked fast across the vic floor with dennis on his shoulder and he slammed him on a piano dennis could handle phil but not grant sean was a psycho who was also trained in the army but I don't think he could beat grant either since sean got floored by phil

Grant was part of the double act, the brawn to phils brains,, when he left phil became both and it simply dont work. I understand they had to alter phils character after grant left but it he never truly felt right once grant left.

I Remember Years Ago Reading In The Newspaper Ross Kemp Struggled At First To Go Through The Filming Of These Scenes Due To Losing His Grandfather In Real Life and That The Tears Were Real From Him Thinking Of His Grandfather. You Could Tell Those Tears Were Real and Steve McFadden Probably Thought They Were Part Of The Make Up For The Scene

The Mitchell's - Get Phil a transplant and make him a proper top East End Boss with guys around him working for him at least a quarter of the cast being tough as nails for example bring back Jake Moon to work for Phil and Ryan as well and with Billy as reluctant to work for Phil but does it to make ends meet, Sharron's story should be her can't live with Phil can't live without him as it is now
Keep Ian Beale I guess but make him Phil's ally in less shady business interests
Carters run the pub but shrink the family a bit and make Mick a bit like Alfie and Frank Butcher
Bring married couple characters like Janine and Michael who are ruthless business people but are secretly swingers
Bring in a Chinese family to run a takeaway, keep the Hubbard/Fox clan and eventually bring back Masood to represent multi-cultural community

Phil showing his grasp of emotions by thinking that taking a beating from his 'bruv' would ease the heartbreak he caused Grant...the trust totally ruined, the bond between them shredded, the ultimate betrayal from the 2 people he loved, every time he saw either of them he'd have that little voice in his head "Remember what he/she did?" The reality is that given Grants character and backstory, he probably would have killed 1 or both of them

This was broadcast in 1994. The year grant found out that Phil slept with Sharon. He found out by hearing the tape cassette of Sharon and Michelle talking in his car. The episodes were called sharongate. Phil slept with Sharon in 1992 and it was then left alone until 1994 when grant finally discovered the truth.

How his this the same show thats on are tv's five nights a week that no one watches? this was awesome now the viewing figures are in their minuses not a single person in the entire country watches it any more its that shite. What happened to go from this to whatever it is these days its that bad that if they decided to pull the plug tomorrow no one would even bat n eye lid now how bads that lol. But back then mid to late 90's this episode early 90's were just awesome carnt even remember the last time I watched it. Theirs rumours their bringing ross kemp back to reunite the mitchell brothers and has great as they are together I carnt even see him being able to bring the viewers in well see shame though........
Phil out lived all the bad-men on eastenders for Dirty Den to Johnny Allen to even Dennis Rickmen, and will certain outlive any other new guys coming along thinking their big.

More of a 'slam intot stuff and throw down a pit' kind of fight than a fist fight, but still good to see again though. Reminiscing is good.
This confrontation scene reminds of Phil and Dennis's confrontationhad when Dennis arranged a fight with Phil for grassing him. Both scenes have lots of similarities. Wouldn't you guys agree with me?
