How to Replace Thermal Paste - PS4 Pro Deep Cleaning

  • PS4 teardown & deep cleaning, completely disassembly and replacing thermal paste. The fan noise in games such as The Last of Us Part II, Spider-Man and some others was absolutely horrible. After such deep cleaning, and after putting a new thermal compound, the PS4 Pro became extremely silent and was like new.
    Questions such as "how to change thermal paste" or "how to apply new thermal paste" to PS4 Pro, are all answered in this video.
    If you wonder how to open PlayStation 4 Pro, this is how I did it...

    Removing the power supply/hard drive and a few screws/disconnect wires on the other side.
    The "Entire" motherboard with both metal panels wiggle out at an angle without needing to take it all apart.
    You won't have to repaste or anything. : )
    Just found this out.
    This is only for a light cleaning.

      Same! I just picked up the filthiest marked up one I've ever bought and in white too. This thing has seen some shit. It came out of a garage when I went to pick it up and I think a cigarette smoker owned it because even isopropyl alcohol 100% couldn't budge the stains on it! All that to say, if you're ever in the same position where nothing is touching the mess use "eraser pads", those spongey blocks used for cleaning stains on walls. I'm so glad I had the idea otherwise I would have been scrubbing just the outside for days and instead it cleans in seconds!
      Hope this helps for any future tough jobs :D

    Make sure to include that you include what type of tools were needed to get the job done. Also what compound did you use when applying the new thermal paste? And what was preapplied to the cotton swabs and wool pads I. E. Isopropanol or isopropyl alcohol. Also incuding the necessary tools before hand would be a great help for those of us who were following step by step.
    Thanks and Great Video!

    @Yesterday's Tech thanks this was very help to me. When I completed my operation, it would not turn on, just one peep then off. However, I noticed that i forgot to put back one of those black mini pads that surround the CPU... could this be the cause? If not, why is it turning off? please help.

    • @YesterdaysTech
      @YesterdaysTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose when you assembled it you’ve connected some ribbon cables improperly. Check their pins as they tend to be quite fragile. Otherwise I see no reason for not turning on, let me know

  • @tontehh2991
    @tontehh2991 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When you cleaned that paste did you put new paste on circuit board or just clean it and putting all back?

    • @YesterdaysTech
      @YesterdaysTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve put the new thermal paste on the CPU, you can skip this step by putting everything back without thermal paste but you lose about 5 degrees Celsius on temperature. I recommend to use thermal paste before reassembling
