Happy for the W, and glad Nebraska is 5-1. But this team is one hundred septillion miles away from "special" especially in the sense you're implying. This team can't even put together 3, let alone 4, solid quarters of football together. The offense, outside of the game against Purdue, falls asleep in the 2nd half, the OL can't run block for sh**, we can't kick a field goal to save our lives, the blocking on our punt protection team is a joke, and we have almost no punt return game. So yes, this team is gritty and they fight, especially on defense, but special? 😅😅😅😅😅
Too early to know if they have turned the corner. They are headed in to the meat of their schedule. The majority of the games in the second half are on the road.
Enjoy the ride. Offense was down, Defense was up. Kicking game could improve if IGC would catch punts and run with a plan to set things up for him. with place kicking, I just dunno, but offense improvement will make it less important. Satterfield needs to call more misdirection runs, too.---Heck, we have the speed!
People complaining about points and all that are the ones that are simply too caught up in stats. The only numbers that matter are in the Win/Loss column. Complimentary football doesn't always mean all three phases are firing on all cylinders at all times. It means that when the offense struggles, the defense steps up as we saw this past weekend, and when the defense struggles, the offense will go get it done. 5-1 is 5-1 no matter how "ugly" people claim it is. We are winning those games that we have lost so many times over recent seasons. This team is still learning how to win and is absolutely trending in the right direction.
Most comments are typical of the Husker fan bias and the sort of ‘all or nothing’ mindset they express. It’s they’re either terrible or great and there’s no room for anything in between. Fans cant seem to accept that we have improved in some basic ways from a perennial loser program that has often been scheduled by our big ten opponents as their homecoming game into a more competitive team. One or two recruiting cycles doesn’t transform a bottom tier program (Neb football has been bottom tier - bottom 25 of FBs for at least 5-7 years) into a honestly ranked top 25 program. 5-1 right now shows we have a real fighting chance vs bottom half of FBS to find a way to win. We didn’t have that 2 years ago. The next step could be to find some better, more steady play from 2nd and 3rd team guys, in special teams roles and backups on offense and defense. Rhule knows playing young guys is critical to development for the out years (years 3-6) if the Rhule era. They may make errors now but fewer in 2025 and 2026. You go from 3-4 wins a season to 5-6 wins to 7-8 to 9-10, to 11 or more over years. You build the program gradually, not in one or two seasons.
@@CliffVogler-tb9rb I think some fans are still slightly jaded we threw away 9 10 and 11 wins to build back a program, almost like we tore down our LEGO village to rebuild it. The argument on whether this 10 year debacle was needed will forever be viable, regardless of personal feelings on coach Bo or what he’s done afterwards. On a separate note, I think we are in between terrible and great, and with a really good D every game is winnable. There’s only one that will have a line greater than a 3-6 points in my opinion. Realistically we could see a 10-2 season (even with losing big to OSU Id think Neb fans would take that).
I think we are getting better, but the teams we are playing are getting better as well. I was hoping to go 1-1 vs Rutgers & Indiana. Indiana is good, no doubt about it. We shall see what happens, both teams have bye weeks. We will have to apply pressure to their QB, Kurtis Rourke, the Canadian Cannon. The dude is a legit baller. This will be a big challenge. It is winnable, but it will be very difficult.
The teams have video on DR now and are adjusting. DR needs to adjust to the adjustments. The same happened to H2 last year after the third game. It's now up to the coaches to get him over the hump.
Nebraska is on the right track. They are better this year than last year. Nebraska is going to improve in 2025 as Raiola matures and Ruhle gets better players.
hopefully their offense will start to show up... Dylan "I don't throw interceptions" Raiola seems to be pretty average all of a sudden. the rest of the season is going to be a tough one...season finish anywhere from 7-5 to 5-7.
The offense was defeated in the second half and that’s a good thing. Failure will show our guys their flaws and we will be able to change things around now with the bye week. Our defense will be thoroughly prepared for Indiana and a bunch of guys will have time to get healthy and back in the fold. This is like a soft reset and reload for the season. I’m hoping the worst case scenario is that we beat UCLA and lose all remaining games. Still make a bowl with that worst case scenario. If we snag a few more along the way it will be a massive step towards being where we want to be.
The offence needs to meet the intensity of the Defense. They look like they're just going through the motions and seeing WHAT STICKS. I would like to see a hurry up sense when they do move the ball... Not let the other team get set. FORCE THEM TO MOVE AND REACT.
A win is a win it doesn’t need to be pretty every weekend football is the “ultimate team” sport for a reason. Look at all the top 25 teams that struggled this weekend bama lost to an unranked team. Ohio state struggled to score until the end of the 3rd quarter against Iowa Michigan lost, USC lost. It’s not just Nebraska that has been struggling. Raiola is a freshman running the offense and tbh I think he’s done a hell of a job doing so. My big concern is how Nebraska will do next year with all the upperclassmen leaving on both sides of the ball. It would be nice to see them score more but at the end of the day a win is a win whether they win by one point, or 35 points.
My only issue is Satterfield. I don't think he can adjust. Now maybe that's all he can do with what he has, so I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt. I'm just concerned he cant adjust the offense once the op adjusts there defense. Still happy a W is a W. GBR
When they Rutgers is not a good offensive football team. They are one dimensional. NU’s defense is good but not as spectacular as most think. If they can contain a top 20 offense we can talk.
As a Neberaska fan. I think Raiola could / should be a better teammate , you dont see him block like our QB's from the past. I see hium reacting very slowly to the rush, he does not seem to be able to scramble to get out of trouble and give our receivers time to get open. Everyone prasies this kid , buty i see very big holes in his game as a QB looking to go to the next level.
@@mrwilstone then the fan base needs to stop praising him like he is football Jesus. From what I have seen he looks lazy , half asses at the end of plays. Why in the second half all we did was run , run, pass punt?
Offensive line was absolute garbage in the 2nd half. A lot of us would feel more confident in this team's shaky success if they would just put a complete game together on a more consistent basis.
We go the win, we would have lost that under Frost. True freshman at QB they are getting more tape on him and will scheme to take him out of the game. Year two of Matt Rhule have to believe in the process.
I really like Dylan but his lack of mobility and scrambling is way below average and if he truly wants to be great this must change. Unfortunately I think you are born with this ability but he can and must improve in this area.
You cant be serious about Raiola not as good at evading the rush or throwing on the run. Laughable! One game he definitely looked a little off. I would put $ he will never play worse. Most was not on him. No wake up needed. By the end of the season, his 1st at 19 he will be playing like the best QB in the country. I sincerely hooe he watches this for more motivation
Sorry dude but untill the play calling gets better Dylan Raiola will be handcuffed and not allowed to shine like he is capable. Therefore there is no special till Satterfield packs his bags. He wasted Spencer Rattler's talent too
I am so sick of rebuild,culture...... 27 YEARS SINCE 97 NEBRASKANS EXPECTATIONS ARE 14-0 ,NEBR IS WHAT5-1. Shutup until we're about 10,12-1. FB today nobody beat anyone they just out score them. He who make least mistakes and executes wins. I'll take Osborne style Nebr FB anyway. Character discipline technique.
Given the consistent inability to play 4quarters by the offense during the first 6 games, the more difficult opponents of the remaining 6 games combined with the fewer remaining home games, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us go 1-5 to finish the season.
Big difference is we are finding ways to win and not lose. We are finishing games not giving up leads. Sure we lost to Illinois in OT but that was a hard fought game until we had nothing left. Bielema is a coach that is hard to beat. He knows how to prepare teams.
Maybe on the verge but DR looked like a confused Freshman and our offense looked like we could be in trouble if we can't score more than 14 going forward. I am not calling for Riola to be replaced but I like coming to the best decision based on the best facts available. With that being said I am ok if the team took some real consideration at giving a series or so to Danny K. He was elite 11 and there were some great things coming out of practice scrimmages. I am not looking for a QB controversy but I am not scared of one either. I want the best guy slinging the rock and running this offense period. Riola has been the best and no one prepares better. The facts have been, Riola's accuracy issues have showed up at Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers and other times in earlier games. If Dylan doesn't rebound versus Indiana then it is fine time to see a series with Danny K, he has 4 games. We had not seen the defense or offense have 4 quarters of execution. Against Rutgers, the defense did have a full first and second half but the offense has yet to have a first and second half. This is not good, we cannot expect the defense to carry us for the rest of this schedule. The offense is on notice, Satterfield, Riola, and the receivers. We need the offense and defense to each have 4 quarters of execution for us to reach our potential with all these veterans, GBR!
@@rizipt Jayln Gramstand is likely the third and Hienrich is only the second because of the respect from Rhule and some progress in his throwing skill set but Kailen had momentum from his practice performance and was also an ellitie 11 QB and so giving Kaelin a chance is no less risky than Riola according to Riola's last couple of performances.

Satterfield needs to call more misdirection runs, too.---Heck, we have the speed!
I agree, we found a way to win against an undefeated team.
This reminds me of the hype train commercial pit out by dr pepper
People complaining about points and all that are the ones that are simply too caught up in stats. The only numbers that matter are in the Win/Loss column. Complimentary football doesn't always mean all three phases are firing on all cylinders at all times. It means that when the offense struggles, the defense steps up as we saw this past weekend, and when the defense struggles, the offense will go get it done. 5-1 is 5-1 no matter how "ugly" people claim it is. We are winning those games that we have lost so many times over recent seasons. This team is still learning how to win and is absolutely trending in the right direction.
I have a coach mindset. Delicate situation. But in heart of hearts Nebraska has to score more points.
Just win. That's all I care about. Win ugly. Win pretty. Whatever works.
We're still a one a one play at a time and one game at a time fanbase. GBR!
We won. It was ugly, but we won.
hopefully their offense will start to show up... Dylan "I don't throw interceptions" Raiola seems to be pretty average all of a sudden. the rest of the season is going to be a tough one...season finish anywhere from 7-5 to 5-7.
I would love 8 wins. I would be satisfied with that
The offense was defeated in the second half and that’s a good thing.
WRs are lazy
We are going to upset Ohio state
I’m happy with the win
Just to keep things in perspective…in case it wasn’t mentioned….
2 top 5 teams just lost to unbanked teams on the same day since forever.
In NCAA 2024 Rutgers defense was the toughest to go against, lol, for real
Gotta get the power running game back. That will make raiola even more dangerous
My only issue is Satterfield. I don't think he can adjust. Now maybe that's all he can do with what he has, so I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt. I'm just concerned he cant adjust the offense once the op adjusts there defense. Still happy a W is a W. GBR
Always happy with a win, hate to lose. Do i want them to play better? Of course.
Time for a much needed bye week
Do we need to play 2 qbs against Ohio state
We’re good special teams play away from being very solid. A strong offensive line away from being great.
Dude he's a freshman
@@mrwilstone then the fan base needs to stop praising him like he is football Jesus. From what I have seen he looks lazy , half asses at the end of plays. Why in the second half all we did was run , run, pass punt?
Coach has been preaching physicality all year , does that not include this QB . Cause our other QBs look more physical.
@@mrwilstone if he is the starter does not matter if he is a freshman.
Ha Ha Ha Hoosiers.
Offensive line was absolute garbage in the 2nd half. A lot of us would feel more confident in this team's shaky success if they would just put a complete game together on a more consistent basis.
Only remaining team i see beating us talent wise or otherwise is osu
We go the win, we would have lost that under Frost. True freshman at QB they are getting more tape on him and will scheme to take him out of the game. Year two of Matt Rhule have to believe in the process.
I could give a rats ass about covering the spread. A win is a win.
It was a push
I really like Dylan but his lack of mobility and scrambling is way below average and if he truly wants to be great this must change. Unfortunately I think you are born with this ability but he can and must improve in this area.
You cant be serious about Raiola not as good at evading the rush or throwing on the run. Laughable! One game he definitely looked a little off. I would put $ he will never play worse. Most was not on him. No wake up needed. By the end of the season, his 1st at 19 he will be playing like the best QB in the country. I sincerely hooe he watches this for more motivation
special? really 14 pts wont cut it..we were lucky to win
These commentators…. “Indiana may drop one” and not be top 25? Indiana has a bye. How do these commentators put themselves as experts?!
Sorry dude but untill the play calling gets better Dylan Raiola will be handcuffed and not allowed to shine like he is capable. Therefore there is no special till Satterfield packs his bags. He wasted Spencer Rattler's talent too
The voice over guy talks too slow.
😂😂😂
Rutgers is trash
But we keep finding ways to win. We 5-1 for the first time since the pelini era.
lmao they are just playing shitty teams
This is what they said all year long during the 3-9 season
And they're 2 wins ahead of that already just 6 games into the season. What's your point?
Big difference is we are finding ways to win and not lose. We are finishing games not giving up leads. Sure we lost to Illinois in OT but that was a hard fought game until we had nothing left. Bielema is a coach that is hard to beat. He knows how to prepare teams.
Not until Ed Foley & Satterfield are gone…special teams is a joke & the play calling is laughable
When was the last time Nebraska was 5-1? 👏👏👏
69th like😊
Maybe on the verge but DR looked like a confused Freshman and our offense looked like we could be in trouble if we can't score more than 14 going forward.
Kaelin wouldn't even be the third quarterback to go in.
@@rizipt How do you know?
@@rizipt Jayln Gramstand is likely the third and Hienrich is only the second because of the respect from Rhule and some progress in his throwing skill set but Kailen had momentum from his practice performance and was also an ellitie 11 QB and so giving Kaelin a chance is no less risky than Riola according to Riola's last couple of performances.
@@rizipt If you know football, Kailen is a better number 2 than Heinrich and Jalen Gramstand is an unknown because NAIA talent is certainly different than D1 and I know because I played NAIA and we had D1 talent and our QB played for the Chiefs and the World League but the difference is significant.
@@alexanderthegreatandterrib4589 Sims was an elite 11 quarterback.
10/5/2024. Hey why use "we" when you and you are not part of the football team. Drop the "we" and use 'they'. Right!
Wrong
