I nearly lost a finger chopping wood like this guy. I was fifteen and living in Glasgow and my mum asked me to find wood for the fire so I went into the woods nearby and started chopping logs down. Well, I held onto the top of the stick at the short end and the axe hit my finger. . . . .should have gotten stitches but , it healed well and I have the scar that tells me that you use another piece of wood to hold that end!
Yeah, I just posted this link to some friends who have children and told them to teach their kids how to use an axe safely so they don't do this. This hurts to see
If you're like me and you sre being fed all of these off grid, bunker type camping videos, have an appreciation for all of these guys have really sharp knives for the food bit.
Nordic countries traditionally always built the fire place in the center of the house. It could take up to 20% of the total space under the roof. Basically it was and is a big pile of stones or brick that would be kept warm throughout the winter, - 30 C out +20 inside. Also the chimneys have a damper in the Nordic countries, if not the structure of the fireplace will not stay warm for a long time after the fire dies out. Of course the use of a damper is an art you have to learn, because of the carbon monoxide, but when your chimney has a damper, it saves you a lot of wood and keeps your cabin warm long periods of time between the fire is lit.
That is one cool build.... With running water and waste handling this dude has the life.... The build is gorgeous... Nice woods & really nice concept all around. I hope he gets running water & shower too... I mean the place is awesome...
perfect retiree move to thailand live, lot better weather, healty, food, peoples, and lot lot cheapen life, my cabin in thailand cost me 6000$ 2 bedroom, work room, big bathroom, big kitchen, not need be could and no snow, only idiot stay live country were have ice and snow winter.
Spectacular! I salute for your perseverance, patience, skill and the hard work! I am not sure how do you get such motivation working at such freezing temperature! Keep up your good work. 👏👏👏
I'm from Indonesia. Nice cabin, simple but complete facilities. There is a generator and solar panels, maybe if it's near a river a water generator could be built. The sauna is an inspiration for me, thank you.
Finally I actually see real cabin life, I always see all these damn survival shelter video’s when all they are is a bunch of sticks, tell us in the future that you have a shower and bathroom? Or at least something to bathe in and take a dump and wizz in?
A nice sized solar farm with a battery bank for power with the generator as a back up and a well with a mauel pump and a large insulated tank could really make a difference on the cabin.
Oh, pan fry your potato skins & salt them for a snack. I flavor mine with cumin & garlic too. Your meal looks yummy. All you need is fresh bread. Love your bath house & sauna.
The square headed screws as they are Canadian in design, work much better then the Philips head as they are star in shape. The Robertson work much better as they don't typically jump out of the screw head and thus damage the head then to drive.
I live in a cabin and years ago watching all these videos I thought I'd be compelled to cook a roast every day... 100$ for the first person who knows how to make something different and doesn't it obnoxiously like a caveman
This is one of many builds from this host for media patronage. -1 Deg C outside +25 Deg C inside but at what cost? is it sustainable for many to repeat this in the area or will you soon run out of trees?
best stove in cabin what i has seen, many cbin have worst metal stove or worst build small stove in cabin, good stove store lot heat in wall bricks and keep room warm all night morning have warm good cabin. but some place has worst build not good has some brick.
This guy's it's a genuis, he's bldg, a modern log.cabin.the what's happened.here's some thing's it's missing.where's it's the bath room's, and bath tub, also sink.
These comments are dumb I love the way he built it . I luv the tv everything y’all in the comments are so freaking negative it’s sad 😞 like dang give him a break . I wish I could go visit

Yeah it was making me nervous.
Bagus banget. Aku pengen banget tinggal di kabin seperti itu. when I was child, aku selalu membayangkan tempat seperti itu. Indah dan nyaman
Dude, START using a piece of log to hold wood upright you are chopping! You are going to lose a finger!
😁👌👌👌
Or baton the stuff

I’ve never met anyone who’s chopped their finger off cutting firewood. 🤔Is that a thing now. OHSA 😂😂😂
Or a hand

We in the states we figure it's off grid. These folks likely figure its the norm. Be well.

What a cabin!!
The color of the logs are perfect. Has a cozy feel.
Your family must be very proud of you.
🙏🙏🙏
Do you see any family?
I love the fireplace in the middle. Very smart, useful and pleasant to look at. Not to mention that you cook as well! Amazing man 😊.
Me2. The fireplace is perfect in the middle. Could almost make it a open 2 bedroom with a tv even.

Old Russian art to keep house warm in very cold winters
Very nice inside your cabin. Love the decent sized bed too. Great brick barrier wall.

The cold wakes you up and working makes you warm. Are you a office worker by chance??
Survival is the motivation.
I love that big brick stove, as you get the fire ripping all that brick heats up and turns into a big thermal battery.

Wonderfull
very nice
So you just randomly find a cabin in the woods in a Storm with electricity and wood and a roast no less
I have a question. How did you solve toilet defecation?
Ever think about making a small generator shed? It would cut down the noise and keep it out of the weather.
we have it, I want to move it to another place, it will be even quieter
