There needs to be more preservation like this. Too much history has been paved over or torn down. An outstanding job on the Cemetery. The people involved deserve a lot of credit. Thanks for showing it to us Cliff.
whow man Cliff D Irish n D ITALIAN WHAT Goes Around comes around brian So cold here left my central heating On D Bill January Love Pennsylvania love it u know who!
Gotta give 10/10 for the archaeological team that literally transplanted an entire cemetary to a place where history is a big deal...and it was terrific to hear your views. I like the way you say what you feel. Don't be afraid of sharing your views, it's what I love about these cemetary videos. The covered bridge idea is one I'd follow you on.
Seems like every state has a crybaby bridge. I do love all the old structures and that they have preserved the history there. It's certainly a beautiful walk.
The covered bridge series sounds great Cliff, I enjoy learning about PA and other states, I must say PA is a beautiful state filled with so much history I love learning about everything, thanks for sharing
The house was built by Quakers, they had two front doors, One for men and the other for Women to use. They also had to parlors for the same reason. My Grandparents In Westfallowship Township, in Chester Co was also a Quaker House with two doors.. My Mom's Fater;s family were Quakers that came here with William Penn.
By all means, start a covered bridge series. I’ve been loving your county high points, but there’s only 67 counties in Pennsylvania and you’re past the halfway point. There’s around 220 covered bridges in the state. I did a county-by-county map for my newspaper job back in the ‘90s. Every one is in a great location and sometimes hard to track down. The most remote ones I find the most interesting.
Loved that. So pleased they took bodies as well. Pretty spot it is in. The trees were delightful. Would love to see the covered bridges, think they are gorgeous. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care and stay safe
I'm glad they took the time to move the stones and bodies in a respectful way. I'm sure there was a lot of publicity over the moving of the cemetery. I was only young at that time so I don't remember hearing or reading about it. The covered bridge series sounds like a good idea. There are a few in my general area, one in pine grove, and one near Elizabethville. Also one near camp out near shades gap. I never actually saw it, but I heard there was one crossing the susquehanna river somewhere around the Rockville/ fort hunter area. I would certainly be interested to see what you can find as far as former covered Bridge sights as well as the few preserved bridges.
Pretty easy to clean old headstones. It's a shame someone hasn't done that. Love your cemetery videos! Looking forward to the covered bridges if you decide to document them.
Hopefully the cemetery will get some needed maintenance, the sinking graves and stones would not be a hard job if it was started soon. Consider a mirror for illuminating the stones, it is easy to carry and will be as bright as the sun if you can get the right angle.
I am impressed that they moved this cemetery with such grace. It looks amazing. There is a cemetery up the road from me that was too close to the highway and they wanted to widen it. They moved all the tombstones but didn’t move the bodies. This was done back in the 60’s. Always thought that was a disgraceful way to move the cemetery.
Schenks Cemetery in Bald Eagle State Park is similar to this one. The state built a flood control dam, and moved the cemetery to higher ground, keeping location of the graves the same. Thank you for bring us to this place. And covered bridges would be interesting.
Hi Cliff, really cool that they took the time to move not only the tombstones but to place them as they were. It's also nice that they arranged the wooden fence and built that wall, a job well done. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
What a great thing for them to do and move all the buildings and especially, the cemetery! The team that did this really had a great respect for all things historic!
Loving the videos sir, I'm down in Chester county, nice to see some other neat spots in our commonwealth. Actually took the fam over to the house rock area last week after watching your hike. My little boys loved it. Thanks for what you do!
Talking about the mistreat of immigrants. Reminded me of the story of "Duffy's Cut". Story of 57 Irish got off the boat in Philly in 1832 and less the 3 months later they are in a mass grave in Chester County.
Nice!! Yea, love that idea about a covered bridge series. So many in PA and Ohio. I got pictures of all of those in Bucks Co. including the Haupt Mills bridge before it was arsened in 1985. Real stupid people doing stupid things. I got the pics though.
Thank you for this video. I have wanted to visit the cemetery as I am a Deppen. I am a direct descendant of Christian Deppen, the first Deppen to come to America from Switzerland. It is kind of morbid, but I wish I could buy a plot for myself. Aaron Deppen
Cliff, If you scan those information signs a little more slowly and completely, we can go back and really read them and also take a photograph. It only takes a few more seconds and the information, as you well know as a teacher and communicator, adds a lot to your presentations. Thank you, Rik Spector
Enjoyed the video --but my friend you failed to mention that the Deppen Cemetery is "haunted"--or at least it is ,as according to Charles. J Adams. of Reading.
I forgot to say --the red bridge here, suppossedly is haunted. BUT you have it confused with another covered bridge. "The Crybaby Bridge"is located outside of New Hope,PA --which IS haunted. And,i'm sorry you don't believe in ghosts --everyone else does --because ghosts are as real as you and I are..

Yes! Covered bridge series would be awesome, including discussion of different truss systems. Nice video! 😊

What a great place. That old gnarled tree in the beginning is a stunner!

Washington and Greene counties are said to have the most covered bridges in PA.

Yes.Please consider doing a covered bridge video or series✨
I haven’t watched much TV lately, but was glad to see your message. Happy Holidays to you and those you love. Life is short. Stay well.

I am related to the Deppen's from Berk's County P.A. Great video! Thanks for sharing. Daniel Deppen was a Doctor. 😊
Great video love it yes ❤ 😍 🙌 💕 👏 👌 cool spot
Interesting area - nice when preservation prevails!
Thank you for taking us along with you. I love these videos.
Looks like a really neat place. I am voting yes on the covered bridge series. Thx for sharing

I am also related to Christian Deppen! He is my 7th great-grandfather! Nice to meet you 😊
Gotta head up to Northampton county
Been there it is a very cool place that was over 30 years ago.
The leaves sure don’t look like that in Exeter. Gloom and doom . The sun never shines.
So all the bodies were exhumed and relocated here in the same setup as the original. That is dedication.
12:24-12:36 absolutely, I'm not sure, either...which is truly sad.

I can't keep up with these videos. Thankfully you don't attempt to break into buildings or exhume graves.
Or rub chalk in headstones
