Nice to see a video on UTMB from a guy not on superhuman level, gives me a much better idea what to expect... bonuspoints for being a fellow belgian ;)
Great video, it was honest and good to see someone's perspective from the back of the pack. I did the same race and was about 2 hours behind you, glad you highlighted the last 50ks as being very tough :) Congratulations on the finish, enjoy the recovery!
Goed gedaan Herman. Echt heel knap.
Dikke proficiat : keep running and sharing your runnings.
We were there in Chamonix and watched you start! Then we hiked the TMB during the race. You were spectacular! Excellent video. Thank you very much. Very inspiring. You had an excellent race! Well done!
Thank you so much for sharing your account of this years race. We were staying in Les Contamines during the build up and saw the TDS runners but left before UMTB. Loves the fact you took time to enjoy it and your honesty of the fact of you missed the time cut you would still be happy. Congrats on completing it, amazing achievement 👍
Awesome Herman, huge congratulations 🙌🏽… really love the way you describe the journey. Being new into the trail runs, you t is very helpful and insightful both physically as well as mentally. May be soon somewhere we will meet. Till then kudos to your upcoming runs from India 🇮🇳
Loved your account of your race. We was in Chamonix for the event and the atmosphere is awesome. Thank you for sharing and well done on your completion. Inspirational.
Go Belgium! So many beautiful parts of the course I have not seen before in other videos makes your video especially fun and interesting. Congratulations on a well-executed race. You looked great at the end! So excited and happy for you.
Great video dude! Awesome to see a non professional athlete's perspective, mainly loving the incredible views!! Vert well done for going on this extraordinary trip!
@@HermanDesmet thanks for putting such a video out there! I’m just starting out running over the last few months and wanting to head in the direction of ultras so to what you have achieved is very inspirational! What a place to have run!!
A wonderful video and you captured the beauty of Mont Blanc and its trails so well. I loved watching this and I was living vicariously through your experiences. Greetings from Ireland and well done. What are your thoughts of receiving a jacket instead of a medal? I know what I would prefer...
Its an ugly jacket, but still better than a medal because that medal would end up somewhere in a box here. I do made a wall with all my bib numbers of all my ultras. In my toilet :-))
The problem with this video is that it’s too short. My dream and goal is to stand on that starting line in 5 years time. Also it looked so easy for you😅 Hard to show feelings through the lens, it must’ve been extremely tough for sure. But you weren’t dieing so very strong performance and congratz!
😂😂😂 it looked easy because I ran slow, not fast. If I run fast I cannot film. And I was well trained. Never prepared myself so much as for this race. But I admit that even a week after the race I am still very tired, could sleep all day, and still emotional. No pain in the legs though :-)
Super cool video! How hard was it to get a ticket to the UTMB? How many qualifying ultras did you do? Keep on posting these videos, they are super inspirational!!! 😊
Oooh thanks so much! I did the VDA (pyrenees) and wildstrubel ultras, to get 7 running stones. (So 7 chances for the lottery). But I know people who got in with only 1 running stone, and others with 14 stones that couldn’t race, so it is definitely a big of luck too.
@@HermanDesmet thanks for the info!! I am thinking of doing the Chianti Ultra and also the Wildstrubel next year and try to get a ticket the year after. Lets see 😉👍🏻
Normally I train specific for 3 months but I have a base that I can run a marathon any day at a slow pace if I would want to. I normally run too without a crew, did some 100 mile races without and it works just fine, but there is nobody to give you a hug when you would need one of course. My movie of the Bello Gallico 100 for example here on YT was a long race without crew.
absolutely awesome video. I'm just getting into longer distance running so forgive my ignorance, what are the leki hand braces for? almost everyone is using them? Again, awesome video :)
@@DScanes those Leki handbraces are braces that you can click into the Leki poles, so you can use it like with the straps on non-Leki poles. I run with Black Diamond poles myself and they have just straps attached where you can put your hands through.
Great video. Realistic for 90% of the runners. I like that you enyoy in views, race and not looking so much at time..
Oooh thanks so much! Exactly. Running is just a hobby, why not enjoy it? 😂
