This, the first of Mozart's piano trios, tends to be looked down on because it is "earlier". Note that critics don't hold the same prejudice against his violin concertos, even though they all came before this work! I enjoy this work a lot because of its tunefulness. I think the following two piano trios showed a falling off in inspiration before things picked up with the final three.
@@ThreadBomb Critics who know anything about his music realize that the violin concertos are also early works that are very good, but come nowhere near the later piano concertos or clarinet concerto. Similarly, all the later piano trios are supreme masterpieces that make this one sound like the nice little piece that it is.
