Ruud always showed what a modern striker should be, just a lethal finisher a powerhouse. Rooney, Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy playing together was just insane.
Ruud is indeed one of my favourite ballers from Man Utd, yet alone premier league, him and ole formed an insane partnership but you need to check out Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke. Even Arsenal fans, who had Henry and Bergkamp to brag about, was jealous of the electric Utd duo!

I honestly believe if Ruud Van Nistelrooy had stayed longer he would have smashed every single scoring record at united and quite possibly either tied or surpassed Alan Shearer's all time premier league record as well...he simply was a goal scoring machine.

Two, he drove home after he was left out of the starting line-up against Charlton Athletic on the final day of the 2005-06 season. So, Sir Alex had to make a decision. Ronaldo was the future at the time so Sir Alex went with him and unfortunately sent RVN packing.
Don’t forget Ronaldinho. He was at that time a player of his own league and even in front of Ruud. Ruud was definitely the best of the rest, but Ronaldinho played like players did ten years later.
What a player he was. Best centre forward we had since Denis Law. That period between 01-04 he was absolutely clinical in front of goal. Some say he was simply a poacher, but his strike rate was second to none, great strength, always hungry for goal, great with both feet and who could forget those trademark bullet penalties? United need someone like him at the moment, in my opinion.
Lethal striker. My favorite footballer. Goal machine. Would have liked to see his flick vs Portsmouth (game after George Best s death) and the brilliant goal vs Leicester city (game after his arsenal penalty miss when he scored a hat trick) and his goal vs Southampton from a raking Scholes long ball in 2001-02 season. One touch and finish.
Very perplexing the amount of superb talent that has come out of Holland over the years and the national team only have ONE major title to their name.... ridiculous!
They also had Kluivert, Hasslebank, Van Hooijdonk, around those times. Even Huntelaar. Big array of talent but seems to have dried up a bit for the Netherlands in recent years. I always remember them having to leave great players out or on the bench. Now Depay is one of their top attackers. How times change.

No one is a better finisher than him in the penalty box. The closest to him was Hernandez. Absolutely clinical. Great childhood memories watching him. Scores in almost every match.

I always love it when you hear current players giving him his flowers. He was brilliant for PSV, Man Utd and Real Madrid. I vividly remember my childhood and having the honor to watch Van Nistelrooy at Manchester United. Great memories as a lifelong Man Utd fan. He is a club legend and it’s great to see him return as an assistant manager at the club. I can certainly see him becoming the manager of the club in the future. He proved his coaching credentials at PSV, and you can tell that the players love him. However, I know for a fact that if he played today, you’d have people who don’t understand the positional role of a poacher calling him a tap-in merchant. As if that’s an easy thing to do, and doesn’t involve positional awareness, timing, clinical finishing, composure and patience. Personally, I’d rather my number 9 score the majority of their goals inside the box than a striker who tries to score goals that have a poor expected goals value.

This was not a man of Top 10 goals and beautiful strikes - this was a man of 150 goals in 219 games. Pure as pure goalscorer and a man who you could bet your life on once he was 1 on 1 with the keeper - a surgeon and a sniper in the art of goalscoring. What a player - Ruud Van Goal indeed!
