I saw them a few nights ago. I literally could not believe my ears. It was so amazingly good. I think Billy Martin is probably the most talented drummer I've ever seen live. He played a four piece kit, and ONE cymbal, which was so refreshing. He also broke out a tamborine, and absolutely killed on it. I've never heard anyone play a tamborine like that!
If you can ever see them play The Lover, live, you will Love it. Definitely a moving experience. One of my favorite antidepressants. I am forever grateful.
I've seen them twice in live. Once in a Vijazz (Wine-Jazz festival). Next time in Barcelona, they were having dinner in the table next to ours. We had a small chat afterwards. Billy Martin was desperate for an expresso right before the gig and coulnd't find anywhere to have one. One of my favourite bands ever. Absolutely awesome.
What's great about these videos is that you get to see up close the way these fab musicians play... exceptional ! I just wish they'd come to Paris more often...
The Lover: So called after a certain strain of da kine produced with love by CG deep in the Hawaiian jungle. CG didn't care for the term Killer Buds and renamed his The Lover...little bit of inside history for y'all
my band future dog is heavily inspired by these guys, similar grooves and instrumentation, but a bit more electronics. check out the vids on my channel!
Billy seems sloppy here, go back and listen to the record - his playing is about 10x better.. this needs a more machine precision, imo.. the beat is relentless on the album..
Really the best ambassadors for America. Really. How can people hate us when we've got music like this? Also ambassadors for New York, dammit.
Billy with the flawless machine like groove AND the squeeze birds at the end FTW!

hasta pollito tocaron estos locos!!!! que buenos musicos.
These guys just amaze me. What players ! Masters. Just cream of the crop.
of all the jam bands, these are the only ones that keep me coming back. It's fun to watch Chris try to keep pulling John and Billy down to earth.
Wish they put that whole show out on DVD! Could these guys get any better!

I would give up anything I had to play the drums like Billy Martin!
john's dirty rough aggressive hammond timbre perfectly fits with his unique style and whole band groove.

Crazy skills just a trip to see live...
4:50-4:53. i love that drum fill. it lines up with the off beat that the organ does.
I rewound it just to listen to that part. Sweetness. It's almost like they know what they're doing huh?

I'm pretty sure you're referring to Billy Martin's Pandeiro (Brazilian tamborine with a skin on). Highly recommended instrument for groove playing
Where this leaves off , "New Planet" takes off:

this would be perfect if the bass was a little louder. his lines are great
Hey, is this from a dvd and, if so, whwere can i find it? The video/audio recording is excellent and mmw is best live. thx
@Oladipo5 agree all the way! I may have to quote that :)
Friday Afteroon in the Universe
Hello. i dowloaded wth a p2p program called "Emule". I hop you can find it
@greenfruitface Check out the youtube video of them called "secret session." Billy plays a tambourine and fucking wrecks with it. He's amazing
Warning: It gets dangerously funky at 0:26
@oldsoul247
Set 1: Improv > Lonely Avenue > The Lover > Brigas Nunca Mais > New Planet > The Letter; Set 2: Improv > Worms > Bass Solo > Queen Bee
@LoshMeeBre no, that's the lover
what song are they going into when the video cuts out?
I dare someone to find something that grooves harder than this.
@Oladipo5 Yeah but the whole band has sick gear anyway...
im posting my new pics

well warning: its dangerously funky at 6:48
dropper
Billy Martin's beats defy logic, but they are so smooth!
my band future dog is heavily inspired by these guys, similar grooves and instrumentation, but a bit more electronics. check out the vids on my channel!
FALL OUT BOY
420 fuuuuuunkay
GREAT video, but isn't this "Is there anybody here that loves my Jesus"? Listen to the bassline, you could recognize it easely (or is it just me? XD)
can't feel the bass aye? you're supposed to feel it!
just playin man, i don't think there would be anything wrong with turning him up a bit.
i feel like chris wood always looks like hes tripping balls
