Hi, I have a quick question. How do you know what the focal distance is? Just by looking at the laser spot on the surface while you vary the height of the sample? Thank you in advanced.

      Hi Vinicio,
Thanks for your question. The focal distance is 7.5 mm and is defined by the probe, made by InPhotonics. While we don’t recommend looking at the laser spot to adjust the focus, one can look at the signal in OceanView to determine when the focus is optimized by adjusting the height of the stage or probe to achieve the highest signal intensities. Also setting the stage 7.5 mm away from the probe will get you close to being focused on the substrate.

very nice video mam, Can you suggest me that SERS is a different instrument than other raman , or SERS can be perform in any raman spectroscopy. SERS can done by Laser raman spectroscopy or not..?

Hi, thanks for watching. We will add that to our to-do videos. In meantime here are resources for Raman Spectroscopy: oceanoptics.com/measurementtechnique/raman-spectroscopy/

Hey Rami, you caught us! We thought we got away with it. Yes. Laser safety is no joking matter. It is always best to wear the proper safety glasses. Do as we say. Not as we do!
