We need to reform the homeowners insurance Market just like we had to do with health insurance and the Affordable Care Act. Insurance companies will try to drop risk and not do coverage so that they make more money. With the Affordable Care Act we made it illegal for them to drop coverage due to pre-existing conditions another legal tricks that they use to deny coverage. We need something similar for homeowners insurance. 20 years ago most homeowners insurance covered flooding damage but now the insurance companies are denying that coverage and trying to drop that on to the federal government's flood insurance program. They are also trying to do the same thing for Wildfire coverage. If we spread that risk of flooding and wildfires and all these other things that the homeowners insurance is trying to drop off among every homeowner in the country then the rest of us would only have to pay $10 or $20 extra and all these people would not be facing these losses without insurance. Again I'm calling for the federal government to reform homeowners insurance and stop these people from dropping this type of coverage for homeowners insurance just like we did with the Affordable Care Act for health insurance.
