- All seems well after rescuing Cecily, but then Domon comes to us and lets us know that the Dark Gundam is a thing and is about to kill...everything. So we suddenly have to go deal with that. I feel like this is supposed to be some sort of expy for the Rafflesia that Iron Mask piloted in the F91 movie.
This stage is actually kind of fun and pretty unique. We actually get to fight in the full map for once! Oh, have I mentioned that yet? I don't think I have. Most missions don't even let use use the full map of any given area so we have a very small place to run around in, and newer maps added into the game are especially small as well. Anyways, back to the stage.
We have the ZZ crew, Cecily, and Domon all spread about around the area. The only enemy at the start is Kyoji, sitting in the center of the map with the Dark Gundam. We start by taking a few fields, and then Kyoji will create DG Cell copies of our allies and have them fight...themselves. If your allies are defeated, the Dark Gundam will receive a buff when we go to fight it, which isn't ideal. I managed to save everyone except Beecha, because in every single game I play with Beecha in it he's always completely worthless.
Once all the copies are defeated, we head to the center with all our allies to face the Dark Gundam itself. The Dark Gundam is the hardest MS to fight, hands down. It has a unique mechanic that I didn't even realize my first time fighting it because the game doesn't mention it whatsoever. There are Gundam Heads that arise as you fight the Dark Gundam. You're supposed to destroy these Gundam Heads to stun the Dark Gundam, because somehow that's how that works. Normal attacks will never fully stun the Dark Gundam even with Smash attacks and musous.
I didn't realize this and tried to fight Dark Gundam without destroying the Gundam Heads, which made this fight hell. It doesn't help that the Dark Gundam has some powerful attacks as it enters phase 2. It's sprout claws above its shoulders and use those to fire lasers, which will hit you multiple times and can easily be an instant death. It can also spread a cloud of DG Cells that stuns you, which can set you up for an instant death. It also has some beam blasts and claw swipes to watch out for. The Gundam Heads themselves can also attack by hitting you or firing beams at you, which can make it really annoying when trying to charge a Smash Hit.
It also doesn't help that for this fight, Master Asia is on the field and cannot be killed until the Dark Gundam is defeated first. So he's constantly attacking you. I had to reload saves quite a few times for this fight. Once the Dark Gundam is defeated, all your allies will leave except for Domon, so it'll be you two versus a red aura Master Asia. Remember that's the strongest aura in the game, so he'll hit like a truck and can bust out a powerful boss move if he feels like it. Once we beat him we'll have finished Seabook's story. - เกม
That one zaku soldier who stay with you and wittness the whole fight between you with domon against master asia. He truly is the most loyal soldier.

I learned pretty quickly the first time I faced Dark Gundam that destroying the Gundam Heads was the way to go, but I HATE fighting him as Seabook. F-91's Charged Melee attack makes it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to HIT those damn Gundam Heads!!!!
good memories to this game good 300 hours on it on my ps2 was also my second gundam game i played i played rengou vs zaft before and then this unlocking charchters was a nightmare i even got nightmares of unlocking 4 parts and all hardest time was the buring gundam king of hearts challenge oh m good so hard :D but rengou vs zaft was harder the story mode kept my blood boiling and i had feeled very stressful most of time you know when you take gundam serious like me what it feels xd
I would love to see mobile suits outside G Gundam be infected by DG cell cause I wanna see how the cockpit would look like if it wasn’t a mobile trace system thing
Back then when I didn't know a thing about Gundam and play this game I just mashing button then I found Devil Gundam which make me go "WTF is that" not helping that the game was the Japanese one *sigh* I want to play it again
I knew a shit ton about gundam when I played this but I totally agree with your opinion that people should start playing this game more

I wish there was an option to make your AI teammates as good as the players, or at least play the same way the players do lol
Exactly its like they barely do any damage to the enemy.
Fortunately they make your AI teammates stronger in dwg 3. There even some low stared missions where the minions literally capture a standard field. But in return, your opponents will be stronger as well
If u had the wing gundam liscense u could use the flying musou it has and u could have taken down the heads faster

Yes, you can emulate it, no it hasn't been ported, I don't even know if any of the installments have.

I never liked this spinoff game series. Even watching the gamplay annoys and bores me. For some reason, out of all the Koei Musou series, only this one though. When it comes to actual Dynasty/Samurai Warriors, its okay. Even Fist of the North Star Ken's Rage (which I liked), or the One Piece Pirate Warriors (which I was indifferent on but didnt hate), or even Berserk Musou (which I found the PS2 game to be better but eh). But this Gundam Musou series? Ugh.
Maybe its because I know in the anime, mobile suits wouldnt be in that much abundance and they wouldnt be standing around like idiots. It insults the source material. And the sense of scale sucks. They dont feel like giant mecha. They feel like people cosplaying in mecha suits lol
