My brother asked me "how did you learn to play the harp?" I told him I play by ear. I listen to a tune I like, then search for the notes on my Hohner Bluesband C. Of course, it's all done outside because my three house cats hate it when I play. I play a medley of tunes on my harp on my channel. Not professional like you, yet, I've enjoyed playing since I was a kid. You play good Will. It's good that you're teaching others how to play the harp. Kind regards.
Thank you for a great lesson! I play for a little bit but I have to learn a lot to play Juke! Cheers Will and thank you again! All the best from Serbia!
There is lots of super material here Will. You and Rythym Slim have turned me on to Little Walter and blues harp in particular thanks and best regards.
Thanks Will, I've been playing a good many years but mainly in a rack as I play guitar in my band. As I'm looking at doing a harp project and getting back to playing cupped again, your videos are a great help, much appreciated.
Very useful instruction, Thanks. I knew I was missing a note, but I couldn't find it. I was starting on draw 2 then sliding up to draw 3, missing that draw 3 whole-note bend. It worked, but never sounded quite right. Plus that octave on the last note makes a big difference. And I definitely need to conquer vamping. This is the first of your videos I've discovered. I'm looking forward to more. Cheers from southern California.
You explain this well Will. I think you were actually right the first time with the 5 blow in your first run through from 4:54. not sure which one you want to leave out otherwise.
Great video man. I don’t know what’s better, your teaching or the voice crack at 5:09. I’m not trying to be an ass, it’s a seriously great lesson, as are your others.
Awesome thanks. Awaiting your next UK tour. Requests i heard you say?... Any help with The Black Crowes Thorn in my Pride from the Croweology album would be amazing. Great tutorials - thank you
Quite a few of the old harmonica recordings were recorded at slightly different speeds which will change the key of the track when you try to play along. To get your harmonica in tune with any harmonica recording. First you need the record then get a turntable that has variable speed. Tweek the variable control knob to tune your harmonica to the track being played. When it rings like a bell you know you have it perfectly in tune.
TH-cam videos often have their speeds altered a little, changing the key slightly, if you listen on at least one of the top youtube versions you'll have it even lower than it already is. I just tried an experiment. I started it on spotify and youtube from the same spot and it started out sounding like one of those tremolo harmonicas with the double set of reeds, but as it progressed, the youtube version lagged further and further behind.
On eBay, your dealer stipulates as this : WILL WILDE ROCK TUNING Seydel Session Steel IN STOCK READY TO SHIP IMMEDIATELY! However, some keys are still out of stock so that it makes me much harder to buy one, especially key of A.. Enough supply required!
Will Wilde Your store automatic checkout system does not deduct VAT tax about 19% rate for those shipment outside EU territories, that is, a harmonica being shipped to non-EU countries... That makes eBay's dealer harmonica less expensive... Wish you pay attention on the matters. Thanks!
I'm baffled by this. Starting at hole 10, I slide my mouth up the harp, sucking all the time, then blow twice on the 5th hole. It sounds just like the original. What am I doing wrong? My technique is far simpler than yours.

Great lesson - so frustrating trying to play along to old recordings and the keys being between keys!

These tongue-blocked harmonics are so much fun, when you get familiar with them. It's like I've been digging for copper but found gold.

Great lesson. Thanks a lot. I can't seem to get past about the 3rd split without my harp choking on excess saliva but I'll keep practicing 😤
Awesome thanks. Awaiting your next UK tour.

You'd make the GOAT proud bruh
Thank you so much Will
When you say draw 3 bend full step does it mean the F note on a A harp ?
Excellent, many forget the flatted IIIrd interval. Well done Willie Wilde!
Top stuff, thanks. Clear instruction and great feel!

Greaat video ..... I'm learnin a lot from you.. i have a request if you dont mind... can do a tuto of little walter's song : MEAN OLD WORLD
Excellent, thank you. I was wondering if you could do Walter's Boogie instructions? Or if that too complicated?
Already done! th-cam.com/video/hQb41HHOBPY/w-d-xo.html
Thank you, you used an A harp, was that a MB Crossover?
Man Little Walter was way ahead of his time.
If there's an old song you like but is off key you can download a mp3, download it into bandlab and then transform it into whatever key you want

I have a request: Grow Fins by Captain Beefheart. I've been trying to get it for years and it still eludes me.
You make it look so easy
brilliant Will!!!......any chance of a CANNED HEAT/ALAN WILSON tutorial?
Thanks Ian. See my tutorial on how to play On the Road Again and also my video How To Do Vibrato, where I touch on Alan Wilson's playing.
Great lesson. Thank you. But I was wondering, could you play "How much is that doggie in the window"? Just kidding
Hahaha Cheers
Is key of C 👌 to do this with
You can play on any key harmonica, you just won't be able to play along with the original recording
What key is good to be able to blend in

Can you post the tabs for the turnaround? You lose me explaining what notes to play after the first 8 bars.

How can you slide UP from hole 10?
George Harrison?
