    Quilt review, but Hasselblad sensor format is 4x3 and not 4x5. And please don’t use that trick of negativity writing “ don’t by this camera” on the thumbnail. It is not honest and you don’t need this kind of trick if your content is good. Other than that , good work!

    I encourage everyone to process the Hassy files using Phocus as intended, if shooting Raw. The software is not perfect, but it's well worth the results for the basics.

    one tip, at 28:08 you are not doing things too much on the hasselblad side due to one thing, with phocus the lens profiles, aboroation and distortion corrections are applied automatically upon import into phocus, so 3\4 of the work is already done for you! ( hasselblad backs{H3\4\5\6 & cfv ii 50 C} and the phocus software have an extensive database on every lens\convertor combination possible,so the data can be used to eliminate these errors) , And the fact that the hasselblad sensor (sony as in most cameras), is NOT the same as canon as when the data is read from it, Hasselblads process it differently, the so called " Hasselblad colour science" or HCS for short this explains the high saturation of colours, and the skin tones; this is designed just for this genre of photography, this is what these cameras, esp. the H system is\was made for.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 ปีที่แล้ว

    at 31:16 the building effects are likely due to getting into the diffraction area, if you backed off to f-stop 8 or 16 this would not show, as diffraction only comes into effect at these closed aperture settings{>f16}, and if you pixel peep in the very corners of the image.

    There might be a option in the menu to turn off the clutch so when it goes into manual focus it still stays in auto focus. Its just a focus by wire lens its not really manual focus like your Canon lens.
    My Olympus OMD E-M1ii I turn of the clutch so if it slides into manual its still in auto focus. I can still get manual focus but I have to pic manual focus in the menu.
    My Olympus OMD E-M5 the older model it use to drive me crazy at first I thought there was something wrong with my camera. Just putting the camera in my camera bag and move the clutch. But I got use to reminding myself to check it if it was not focusing.

    at 29:15 one difference between the apatures, and shutter speeds is that the format is bigger, so the depth of field is smaller, esp. the longer focal length you go, so 5.6 is WIDE open, as to focus a large lens like these is HARD with this dof, and also the shutter speed is lower, as the H system (also cross-compatable with this X1D and 907x systems) needs this backwards compatabillity for the leaf shutters, they can only go to 1/800 or 1/2000th design depending, as all shutter leaves need to open completely, then close, EVEN at this highest speed!, so this is a physical limitation to the design; however, this tech does allow for pixcel shifting (multi-shot) and at 100 MP you get 4x the resolution of a single shot!, this is the magic of this system, plus all this resolution to play with in photoshop, if your editing 'dumps pixcels' you have PLENTY to spare!, esp. for panoramic stitching.

  • @MrRyming
    @MrRyming ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Daria
    Nice review of the X2D
    I think it's important to mention that you got full flash sync on all shutter speed with the X2D. You don't with Canon. So if you do a fashion shoot outside, you can go to 1/200 sec shutter speed with flash on.
    I got the "older" X1D II camera with 3 lenses. The 21mm f:4, the 45P and the 80 f:1,9. I love that setup and have considered the X2D. For me the 100mp is not a dealbreaker. I think that 50 is enough for most jobs. Actually I sold my Sony after buying the X1D ii.. so the only digital camera I got right now, is actually the X1D ii.
    I have been shooting stills for 20 years now and shoot both analog and digital. It's really 2 different worlds and I don´t want to start a war between that. I love black and white, grain, colors and different formats. It all depend of what wipe you want in your image. But when it comes to digital and colors I personally think that Hasselblad is the best. It's a workhorse, the quality in both image and the way its build are in the highest range. Actually I got 4 Hasselblad cameras. I got the original 500c witch is the iconic camera there shot Marilyn Monroe and all the other stars from the 50´s and until now. I got the SWC (superwide) there is an iconic interiors and landscape/architectonic camera. I got the 500ELX there wend to the moon and became a fashion camera for studios for many year thanks to the build-in motordrive. And last but not least I got the X1D ii.
    If you dont know so much of the Hasselblad history, then check out Anton Corbijn, Douglas Kirkland and Platon...
    And hey im still considering the X2D.. BUT... its always easy to spend money on new stuff and I still can't think of situations I didn't solve with my X1D ii... But then again.. maybe one day.. I dont Know. I'll let you know if something unexpected happen. Until then take care and aim after the moon.

      @lindstrem ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean 2000 shutter speed, not 200. And the upcoming 90mm should take it to 4000 shutter sync. However, i hate all these reviews, none of them mention the important stuff so idiots like me go to buy the x2d only to realize while testing, thankfully before the purchase that the x2d is completely retarded. They bring out manual clutch lenses yet the x2d has no focus peaking, the zoom in feature for focus is pointless too, as you can not release the shutter while in zoom, you must zoom out first and you obviously loose the focus when you push 2 buttons in between, no zebras, not even highlight alert, no black and white profile preview in viewfinder, i was just shocked...

    a tip, check the file type, most Hasselblad OEM backs (h cameras CF backs) use a 3F raw proprietry format, THIS is the only thing you NEED phocus or Flexcolour for!, just like Raw convertor in photoshop, to transpose this type to DNG\TIFF then the Adobe Raw convertor and photoshop itself can take over, the Main thing with the Hasselblad software is to APPLY the lens corrections, aka lens profile, that is maker specific, the rest can be done in whatever app you fancy, they all do the same, just use diferent icons, and names for the processes.
    the Phase ONE P+ backs use a "IIQ" format, or tiff directly (selectable in settings tab of the backs), either of these photoshop can use directly, no need for C1 to transfer formats, as I mentioned previously, LOVELY files, regardless of the maker of these backs; just watch out for older Phase one and ixpress (CF, CFh ) backs, these are CCD, NOT cmos sensors, so keep the iso LOW, they are limited to 800 but are grainy as, if you use it (800), sensor design, nothing to fix it, so watch out for lens flare and subject Glare! they are killers of your shots, so LENS hoods ON, always, and have a great time shooting.

    This is a nice review. I missed some more details about the autofocusing. In my optinion the X2D is the perfect camera for off camera flash due to fast sync speeds. The aspect ration of the hasselblad ist 3:4, not 4:5 as stated 31:50min. About the guess which picutre was taken with Hasselbald or Canon: It was very easy to tell since the pitures have differnt aspect ratios. Most people avoid heavily stopping down due to increasing diffraction. I agree that the X2D is a niche camera with comes along a workhorse camera.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 ปีที่แล้ว

    one other tip, as these cameras have a larger sensor, noise, esp. glare and flare can be real problems, so if you can use the lens hoods provided, or a pro lens bellows shade, with my film 500 c\m I got caught out with this, so be wary of high iso in these conditions too, so go LOW iso, that will be your saviour, as shadow details are somewhat recoverable in post.

    Authentic presentation of the product, well done! 👍
    I can highly recommend using Phocus even though it is not running all that smooth on a weaker Mac. The colors you get are deeper to my eyes and I did quite some comparisons between the same shot in Lightroom and Phocus.
    Using Fuji before I also like the CaptureOne workflow more but well… it has all its benefits.
    Oh and regarding sharpness: You May like to stop down by a factor of 1.2 or so (according to 0.79 crop factor) to get the same DoF. So more like f8 on Hasselblad and 6.3 on Canon 😅

    La hasselblad está en otra liga en cuanto imagen, el color y rango son magnificos... Lo malo: el costo del equipo (cuerpo) y de sus objetivos. Si tienes hasselblad, el costo de una sesión debe de cobrarse más caro que canon o nikon. Mi papá era fotógrafo publicitario y tenia una Hasselblad 502 cm con lentes alemanes... Don't trust internal memory. The problem with internal memory is its flash. And flash memory always needs a little bit of electricity so it does not die. Another Florida photographer he had a external hard drive die on him because he did not plug it in for over a year.
    Don't mean to sound silly but if you look up Nintendo Wii U bricking its because of the console was not plugged in for over a year. However one person said he left his Nintendo Wii U on for a day and the memory came back.
    Also Nintendo gave a warning to make sure you plug in your Nintendo Switch every six months so the memory does not go bad.
    The circuits are flipping from 0 to 1 its binary and over time just like anything it can wear out.
    Fuji is better with two SD card slots.

    You are obviously not a photographer, otherwise you would NOT compare a zoom with prime lenses. Furthermore, no one in their right mind would think that a small sensor is better than a larger one.

    Dear Daria, at first congratulation to this achievement. Secondly, having such a small beast with that megapixel count, will offer you huge possibilities in cropping, without visible loss of detail. Peter Coulson for example, allways shoots horizontal, giving him that freedom for composing images, suitable or any publishing need, due to large reserves on the sides.

    I think Fuji is a better camera from what I've seen. But out of all the medium format cameras I think Phase One is the best when it comes to color science this is just me watching reviews and looking at stills.
