    Hi Tati, i have been a long time fan of yours. I don't mean to sound creepy but your voice is very soothing! Its not annoying like some other you tubers! Also I love how invested you are in what you do and i really admire it! You seem like you really care about your subscribers and it shows! You probably won't see this with the flood of comments you get but, have a good night/day! Love you, xoxo, Sherry.

    • @Alanathebutterfly18
      @Alanathebutterfly18 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +mollysgotmakeup13 Yeah on a day like that it would be really nice. I'm curious if there are foundations that are just as good and not as expensive. My favorite foundation is Lancome because its very velvety and does a good job at blurring my pores. Its still expensive (40 dollars average) but its not as much.

    • @zararoyce319
      @zararoyce319 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Alana Sloan there are definitely foundations that are just as good for much less price A lot of this has to do with the fancy packaging you are paying a lot for that packaging etc.

You don't understand that you are paying for brands name, not makeup. And yes, they are sellouts, and not very honest. Thank God I have right to state my opinion, and I belive that I didn't offend anyone.

      +Marianita Bustos It's very possible they needed to match her so she doesn't return it if it didn't match due to its pricing. I thought like you at first then thought....hmmmm maybe they won't accept the return (their policy) if professionals matched it? I think it's a return issue over snob issue. Cause let's be real...anyone can buy a foundation of $200 especially if the credit card is on the counter.

  • @KateDenthimamai
    @KateDenthimamai 8 ปีที่แล้ว +267

    I think the women at the La Prairie counter wouldn't give you the product without matching, because you probably can't return such an expensive product after buying it. So in order to avoid angry costumers and lawsuits, they make sure you're happy with the product before spending your money in it. Of course I may be wrong and they just happened to be big b**ches lol.

      I bought this foundation from Nordstrom, they are always so kind wiht returning and exchanging...not that I'm going to return this but there customer service is the best specialy here in Hawaii ☺

  • @nannyboo1368
    @nannyboo1368 9 ปีที่แล้ว +554

    If the company thinks their product is too expensive to give a sample without the customer being put out, then maybe they should lower the price. High end products have the wrong attitude, they aren't doing us a favor by selling to us. We're doing the favor by buying their products.
    And there's nothing worse than a snooty counterperson. You work at a store. Get over yourself.

    • @pippalowthorpe9237
      @pippalowthorpe9237 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Happens to me everytime i go to high end makeup counters they are all like "girl u are like 12 go away theres important customers we need to attend" and ughhh I am 16 but my parents give me money to buy stuff while I am working on completing my studies to have a successful career and life, so stop giving me bad looks and let me see the products without you checking on me every 2 minutes if i dont steal or touch anything.

      +Illeana Langarica protecting your skin especially on your face is extremely important for staying youthful and for having healthy skin. I specifically buy foundation with high spf so my skin is extra protected. For the price this foundation should really have a much higher spf. Spf 15 literally protects you from nothing, it's basically useless.

    • @courtneystroud503
      @courtneystroud503 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Illeana Langarica why should I have to put layers upon layers on my skin when I can do two steps in one? If your spending already 200 dollars why should you have to spend even more money on another product.

    • @vanpham9229
      @vanpham9229 9 ปีที่แล้ว +72

      +Courtney Stroud
      SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB radiation; SPF 30 blocks 97%, so it's actually not much of a difference if you really think about it. A simple of spf 15 will do just fine in protection, whats more important is reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours.
      Also, I would assume they don't want too much sunscreen in it because if I were to wear a $200 foundation, I would wanna make sure it's not reflecting light in pictures. Higher spf means more physical sunscreen, meaning whiter face in pictures.

    • @xElla074

      maybe they were thinking that if you didn't like the colour afterwards and returned the used product, they would waste a $200?? or that it couldn't be returned and you would then be pissed off......but obviously they couldn't tell the customer that

    • @BluePlastik
      @BluePlastik 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +Hannahjqd It has to be one of these things. They either don't take returns and they don't want the customer coming back and arguing with them over a $200 mismatched foundation OR they don't want to take a return on a $200 foundation that the customer wouldn't let them match.

    crazy how in my brain some things are worth $215, i have 4 kate spade bags, each around that price-worth it. I bought the Victor n Rolf Flowerbomb perfume and cream set-$220-worth it. foundation? would never be worth it. there are just too many variables that would make it not work, my skin changes throughout the month, the environment, what primers and powders i use....its too much money with no real predictable results-hope i make see sense

    • @girlythingsbye
      @girlythingsbye 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I know there are other foundations that look great and hold up all day. The thing is, there's no reasoning or logic (except if I can't actually afford it -- like if I can't buy food or pay the bills) that can help me when I've fallen in love with a product. I am a slave to my infatuation. So just to be safe, I'm going to admire how this looks on Tati, and then avoid trying it for myself. Hahahaha!

      +Girly Things by *e* I wish.. I had done what you are doing haha. I went to the store with the intention of just trying it maybe, just to see if I liked it. ... I walked out with it. I felt so out of place, though, I'm young and I really shouldn't be splurging on things like this, but I just had to try it. That, and the foundation caters to mature skin soo haha. But I have extremely problematic skin, and..... this foundation just doesn't settle into my dryness. At all. Which is a complete and absolute miracle for me. I have tried so many foundations and to be honest.. none of them look so well on my face. It just looks like a second skin. I totally feel guilty. I've only had it for 2 days and I feel so bad. The woman told me that it would last about 5 months, which to me seems a little ehh for the price. The funny part is... she asked me if I knew someone who used the brand, and I said "oh no i saw it on youtube" she just mumbled "oh"

  • @PeanutVlogs

    Well, if someone can afford it why not. If it works for them, I don't find it that absurd. The mascara and the lipstick that you have featured before in this series were way harder to justify, but foundation is the most important makeup product imo.

    • @Waldorfdarling
      @Waldorfdarling 9 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Btw I totally agree with you on saleswomen being totally intimidating at makeup counters. Some of them try to push you products so hard, it's overwhelming and they bombard you with tons of information when you just want to look at lipstick swatches in peace. I'm also apprehensive to go makeup shopping at a department store because I hate the way they look at you, like you're their next chance for a commision, and I can always feel their eyes fixated on me when I try things out, it's really uncomfortable. And the worst thing is that they think they inform me and educate me, and I feel like sometimes they do it because they see that I'm young while I probably know 10x the things they do about makeup and beauty.

    Really appreciate you showing us a review on something so luxurious. My thinking is that if its supposed to be infused with skincare (like a serum) that perhaps you won't see the full benefit of it over just one day?
    And if it's broken down like foundation + serum + concealer - if you had to buy those three items separately would it total around $200? It could if you get a good serum (at least here in AU a serum is $100 on average). From that perspective the price of the one item is not necessarily outrageous.

    • @Softshelldiety
      @Softshelldiety 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dang that's expensive for a serum! I cringed paying 20 for the l'oreal youth code dark spot correcting one. I know that would be by no means considered anywhere close to high end but it felt like a big investment LOL

    • @zararoyce319
      @zararoyce319 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but realistically it's not like people movers are just going to use their foundation people are still going to purchase some type of a cream or moisturizer separately to use underneath no one is just going to wash their face and then apply a $200 foundation without having other products as well, and the concealer thing is really small so it's not gonna last that long anyway

    its funny how the comment section is full of jealous people. I'm sorry you can't afford or want to buy this foundation. its not marketed for people like you . its like hating on a pair on Louboutins because you can't afford it or you don't think its worth it. get over it. it's an item some people DO have the money for or like to spend they're hard earned money on. Its not for the average person. Jesus Christ.

      ya exactly people won't hate like those who have loubis and those are close to $1000! and they're so painful... unless you have like cute ass Cinderella feet. I don't lol. but the minute someone buys something fancy in terms of skin care which is like... so much more important than shoes. like I got these pair of warm synthetic (not real fur or leather) but polyester made booties. they're soo comfy & keep my feet warm in 30 degree windy temperatures for only $30 at target. but I'm not going to go click on a louboutin shoe collection video and say mean things about how those shoes are soo expensive. it's like do you do whatever makes you happy.

      It's only limited edition because of the packaging. I believe the bottle is embellished with Swarovski crystals hence why it's $675. The colour itself is exactly the same as the original bottle of nail polish. So technically that's just paying for packaging. Nothing else

      I love Chanel. I heard great reviews on the Chanel Aqua vitalumiere foundation and as I was depositing money at chase bank I walked by a Macy's and I went in just to check it out. I came out with a moisturizer, the foundation and a moisturizing primer and so far it feels like nothing like it doesn't feel like i have a "cake face." like that feeling where people can't wait to take off their makeup. it felt like a second skin very natural & moisturizing. I'm going back to get the serum & face wash. I have really sensitive skin too. the serum works for not breaking out combined with a fragrance free 10 ingredient moisturizer.

      that's funny I wore it all day and had no break outs of course I took off my makeup before i went to sleep. and I also walked 2.5 miles in a fleece jacket meaning I was sweating today. but I used the Aqua vitalumiere which is not full coverage foundation. and I also used a moisturizing primer by Chanel. and I also moisturized my face with Chanel 10 ingredients lotion for sensitive skin. I've used Dior, maybelline and Chanel is the only one that hasn't had an averse affect on my face.

      +BeautyJunki101 Someone making more or less money than you doesn't entitle you to treat them poorly. It also doesn't entitle them to treat you poorly, so I'm not saying that anyone has the right to be a jerk, but I don't like the idea that you should take advantage of retail employees just because they don't reach your salary tier, or whatever.

      I don't think they treat anyone badly. in from the northeast and I've been to SAKs with mom friends (friends who are moms) and they're very accommodating to everyone! if you need help they will help and assist you with questions & purchases. shopping there is really an experience if you have like $2000 to drop lol. I was bought a perfume there it costed $300 it smelled really nice. but the lady took forever and I was with a friend and I didn't want her to wait when we had other stores to go to. so I'm trying to rush this sales woman and she's there giving me three different samples of the other perfumes under the company line. they wrapped everything nicely and placed it in a black bag. other than the fact the service takes at least 40 minutes from trying things on to them checking you out its really time consuming is the only downfall

    First of all, LOVE your videos! Second, I am an Ambassador for La Prairie at a Nordstrom, and I just wanted to let you know that we are absolutely NOT trained to turn people away/ refuse to sell to them if they don't want to be matched! I can't believe they treated you like that...! So, on behalf of all of the NORMAL, nice La Prairie representatives, I apologize!

    • @gericadavis
      @gericadavis 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And just to add, at the end of the day, commission doesn't matter! We just want our clients to be as happy with their product as possible. Yes, it does stink to get returns BUT it's worse to have unhappy customers. SO, if they don't want to sit down/ be matched, that's their prerogative. We just want happy customers that come back because of great product and even better customer service.

    I hope Tati won't stop the "WTF" series because of all the complaining.
    Ok, you wouldn't buy such expensive items even if you were able to, WE GET IT! Just, please, don't go around saying that these videos are not helpful, because for some people they are.

    For me to buy a $200 dollar foundation, it better apply itself in the morning and take itself off at night... Love these series Tati! 💋👍

    Those ladies at the counter probably drive away tons of potential sales by doing that omg

    This is probably the best foundation in the world iv been using it for two years and 1 jar lasts me almost a year so economicly is not as expensive when you consider that, you can even mix it with a drop of the sisley black rose oil to make the coverage lighter and it looks insane.
