I don't see how ragging on full face helmets should be in here even if it's a joke. When it comes to protecting your noggin there should be no joking around. I crashed so many times when I first Started I wish I jumped into a full face earlier
You guys r full of it, ride with what ever makes u happy, as long as u ride...and if u feel safer with a full face, do it....the range of age of riders is pretty wide. And as an older guy it sux to walk around in a suit and all sorts of scratches, if looking like robocop is what it takes it 2 get u on the trails then b it
I ride with a full face helmet and a neck brace anywhere because I've had a bad crash before and I value my life, and I would suggest everyone do the same if they are going big on a mountain bike
I'm considering the neck brace after a pretty nasty crash that could have killed me if I had landed any other way. You never need it until you do. Same with knee pads after I received a hairline fracture from bashing my knee into someone's frame and then hitting it again later in the ride.
I always love your videos but I can tell we would never get along riding together. I wear anything and whatever I want. I dont follow any dress code at all. I wear bandanas around my head.I have yellow one tied around my right ankle..I wear long socks and have them pulled up over my pants sometimes to keep my pants out of the chain. I wear 3$ Walmart safety glasses..Sometimes I wear shorts over top of my sweat pants..I dont follow any trends. Im an 80s kid that knows how to be RAD and stand out...PEACE!!
mikieson Good for you. I actually have more respect for riders like you when I see them than the judgy, bro'y douch bags with all the gear no idea and looks so feckin serious riding there santa cruz bikes I yell Sooooedurobro
lol..thanks man..:) i ride mostly on road so its funny when i see others all dressed in their skin suits or jerseys.. im all friendly and wave and like "HEY!!".. they probably thinking im just a horrible joke..hah..:D
This is probably one of the worst things in MTB is the all the gear no idea judging. When you see someone in a t-shirt and shorts and ordinary footwear when on flats it just means they couldn't give a crap about all the marketing BS in the bike industry. Most (not all) bike wear is ordinary outdoor kit but with slightly different cuts and inflated price tags.
"Skate shoes are a great option for flat pedals". In this video you are told to never wear training shoes and they showed a clip of vans, which are awesome for BMX, Skate, Scooter, and MTB. Especially because of the honeycomb pattern on the ball of the shoes. Fits perfectly with the platform pedals pegs.
I watch GMNB all the time and generally love the content. I have been going through older videos recently. This one is the most pretentious POS I have watched, especially with regards to what helmets to wear. Wear what makes you comfortable and don't care what others think. It is your safety and your body so do what makes you feel the safest. Besides, most people don't care what others have on. Be better than this @GMBN!
I kinda broke the rule about full faces I wear a full face while on my 130mm trail bike but I am riding DH and Freeride tracks so I don't really have a choice.
I don't own a full face helmets but I've definitely been on some cross country type trails that had brief sections where a full face lid would sure be a good thing if you crash.
Well, I'm guilty of a few. I wear a full face helmet, as it gives me more confidence by a large amount, and it just doesn't feel right riding with a non-full face helmet. Also, I do sometimes wear pads UNDER jeans when riding dirt jumps. Can I be forgiven guys?
Global Mountain Bike Network Okay, cool :) But the lycra part isn't fun, at all.. If you're following somebody on a trial who wears bare lycra, you should keep your eyes away...
Jake B There's so much footage of faceplanting xc and trail riders that in my opinion a full face makes sense in trail and xc too... and nowadays there's quite good ventilated Helmets out there... at light weight ...
Seeing as it's well past April fools I'm guessing you guys are serious about the crap you spouted in this video! People look up to you and want advice not rubbish like this! What if someone doesn't wear their knee pads because they don't want to look uncool because of what you say here and have a fall? And if someone wants to wear a full face on xc why the hell shouldn't they!? I often do, falling on your face can happen any time so why not be protected! Hope you read all the negative comments here and retract most of this!!
Global Mountain Bike Network Global Mountain Bike Network Ya let's be honest you guys aren't known for getting it right when it comes to humor now are you? Remember how well Dr Aston went down!! Read the comments and the ones that have all the likes and think you'll realise you've missed the mark. Also, you've got to admit going by all the negative comments that people are going to take this the wrong way. If you want to try something funny, have a look how GCN do it!
Yeah, well you guys should stick to mountain bikes and bail on humor. you know darn good and well you rag on people who wear full face helmets and have padded bike shorts. it looked seriously like you were laughing AT people who break YOUR unwritten rules. But at the same time I was laughing at you because your content choices were poor. The full lycra suit doing a extreme DH, ok....the knee pad gap, ok, but some of the other material: FAIL
Yea don't worry about not parking on trails/jumps, going the wrong way on directional trails, just make sure you judge every other rider (that may be just trying to get started) on what they wear...keep up the good work guys.
Some hiking or running shoes are actually perfectly fine for flat pedals with spikes. As long as the material and sole pattern provide good grip. And more often than not, the sole on those shoes will last you longer than the rest of those shoes. To be completely honest, I'll always rather buy some cheaper hiking shoes with a suitable sole than expensive MTB shoes. Reason being that whatever shoes I buy for outdoor activities, they won't see the end of their second season and won't be looking pretty before the end of their first one.
Vans are good! But it didn't fare well with my CB 5050 3s for long :( probably because my feet are fidgety. I keep reading that you should either go with skate shoes or FiveTens
I wear a full face for xc. in summer I wear a half face in winter I wear my full face its more comfortable, it keeps you warm as it gets real cold in winter here and I go to areas that I don't really want my face to be seen in, but yes mostly that rule is normal I am just abnormal
I love full face helmets. First, they look super cool. Second, they undoubtedly give you hell more protection than any open-face helmet. And I believe, the latter is the major reason, for why we wear helmets.
Yep! full face for the downs. I ride techy/super quick stuff and I am waaaay more confident knowing I'm not going to smash in my money maker 😊 'half face' for commuting etc. don't want to look a full on knob 😂
I wear my full face all the time, XC or trail bike. Never going back. (it's a "light" full face though, MET Parachute) Being slim with really long legs, the Enduro Gap (boy am I glad there's a name for that) is hard to avoid and I don't care during the summer. But a 3/4 short is just long enough to close the gap during winter :-)
i feel you got the helmet rule the wrong way around! i have no problem seeing someone riding xc with a full face, it just shows they want extra protection. However seeing kids on budget hardtails and xc helmets locking out the brakes on downhill tracks just looks silly.
I've watched enough videos to see the outcome of not wearing a full face helmet..i have more confidence wearing mine...seen plenty of people at cannock wearing one... daft rule of you ask me
I could never understand why these guys never wear full face helmets in any of their video, I thought maybe its a 'pommy' thing. In Australia everyone wears them down hilling, as if you wouldn't
And it looks a lot cooler. I personally don't use a helmit cuz it looks stupid. (I don't go on mtb trails so there is no chance of me falling on a bike lmao)
DON'T use Strava on 'illegal' trails! Just stop it. Don't record rides on private land! yeah, ok, maybe we shouldn't ride there to begin. But trails that have been in private forests for tests are getting shut down because people are GPS-ing them for the world to see. If the land owner didn't notice then that means the trail is not destructive or bad.
ive worn my full face on the fatbike! because i was riding dh trails! Big drop off and some jumps on a rigid frame! let the trail decide what helmet you wear, not the bike
I wear a DH helmet for Trail/All Mountain Riding, as well as wearing Knee/Shin Pads on my black riding jeans, and elbow pads/guards on my jersey... Does that sound like overkill? I ride in the Central California area
@@RW-nl9up i would strongly disagree. You will discover your face has no function any longer after you plant it into a rock or tumble down the side of a mountain and get wrapped up against a tree. If you are riding fire roads then it really isnt usefull but any trails going DH with roots and rocks on it i would definitely go for a full face just based on the amount of people in the comment section listing their facial injuries
Vans or converse are perfect for riding though... you can tell exactly where you are on the pedals, they are on the lighter side of most shoes youll find, and the grip is pretty damn good Also look stupid wearing a full face on a fe bike? More protection which means you can push it harder and feel fairly safe about it, you can get better mounts for a camera, and most full faces have speaker pockets for tunes while riding. Video was pretty ego driven tbh
What about the Bell Super 2R? I wear mine as full face most of the time when riding downhill trails or jumps, I take it off completely to ride back up to the top, if it's mellow XC type trails or with the kids then I take off the chin bar and stick it in my pack. One thing I have heard is not to wear shin protection as it's not cool and you should only cover the knees! I wear Endura soft shin/knee pads, they stop my shins getting gashed by foliage and any flat pedal strikes, I don't think they are too warm. Also heard the same on elbow protection, some say do, some say don't, I don't currently but I am considering getting some. TBH can't we just all wear and ride in whatever we want and let our biking speak for itself and not be judged on what we wear?
Damn. That crash is absolutely scary - especially after you've seen how the poor guy looks now. Just makes you wonder about all the places you've been to that could have ended the same or worse. To be honest though, he was on a nimble bike with 20" wheels. To my knowledge, it happened because his wheel got stuck.
There is only one rule to mtb'ing that is important. Have fun doing it don't get dragged down by what others say you should and shouldn't do, if it's fun and you don't risk yours and others safety do it
This episode should have been titled "The fashion police of mountain biking." Who cares ??? ... Live long and ride bro. This an episode for the haters. Here are real unwritten Rules. 1 - Don't ride the trail backwards. 2 - Don't leave you trash. 3 - Don't ride muddy trails. 4 - Don't be a jerk 5 - Alwaya tell someone where you are riding. 6 - Wear a helmet 7 - Don't be a bike snob 8 - Leave your gun at home 9 - Take water 10 - Take an extra tube.
Wait, wait, wait hold your horses why I can't ware full-face something like MET Parachute or Bell Super on XC, is that makes riding down a bit safer? Why is this so taboo? Also Lycra/Baggies I ware long lycra and buggies on top when its winner. I don't know what winner you have there but I'm not going to ride in baggies when its near 0 degrees...
I assume they're hinting at baggy top and lycra shorts or vice versa. Lycra such as undershorts/under armour is accepted - I'm yet to know a serious MTB who doesn't use 'second skin' lycra layers in the cold.
always ask a fellow rider if they need a hand if there bikes f##ked.. was at Degla a while ago and was passed by atleast 12 riders and only 1 stopped..
I live in aus so even on a cold day its not below 12 degrees so all these comments of people trying to stay warm boggle my mind when my biking outfit is shorts and a t shirt
So Lycra leggings and baggies together make for a solid winter combination. Also a lycra jersey with pockets under a more mountain bikey shirt allows for no backpack and decent warmth in the crisper months. But I'll agree that lycra jersey with baggies does look a bit silly! You know you're so right though, just get on your bike and have fun, who gives a crap what you're wearing or what you're doing, just getting out there is better then 99.9% of people who can't be bothered to escape the couch )
Just done wear lycra for an outer layer with a baggy other half. I wear leg warmers but under baggy shorts, perfect, warm legs and no scrubbing your legs in the shower to get mud off
1) if somebody were to try to mock me because of my clothing, i would laugh in their face. i dont get dressed to please others. 2) full face may seem dumb if you dont have the skills to be doing big jumps or bomb down hills like a pro...but its not as silly as trying to walk back to the car with teeth pushed through a lip or a busted jaw. just my opinion.
It's much easier for the downhill rider to get going again, which is why this isn't an "unwritten" rule, but an IMBA written trail rule. Downhill riders yield to uphill riders, except on one way or downhill specific trails.
What about courtesy rules? When you're climbing a steep hill but for some reason have to stop, you should make room so your mates can pass you. Or in bikeparks: when you need a brake after a section, wait for other riders until you can enter the trail again.
If full face helmets are exclusive for downhill i wonder why Enduro World Series riders wear it all the time ?? i was thinking about buy a lightweight full face helmet like Met Parachute or Bell Super 2R riding my enduro bike ... what do you think about this ? I am super fan from Spain !!
Jonathan Martinez well, they say that the full face is perfect for downhill, but you dont want to be seen in an xc bike with those. those are like two extrems. downhill in one end and xc on the other. With enduro definetely closer to dh. If i am not wrong enduro is going uphill and then downhill. which is as dangerous as dh.
King Rat I always wear baggies over my Lycra. I wear bib short Lycra to stop my bollox bouncing around and wear baggies so I can keep stuff handy in my pockets q._.p
Convertible pants over lycra rocks! Start out cold with legs on, take off as it heats up. Ride shorts, then put the legs on when you get to the overgrown section. I've gotta judge cloths on performance, not looks. If they look good also, that's fine (until you wash out in the mud@)
It drives me crazy when I go biking, and there's a group up ahead of me taking a break. And then right before I get to them they start going in front of me.
That's a great idea! I just got into that and wow it's super fun! Wish someone would've told me years ago! Not only a scheduled night ride but just having a decent light so you don't have to cancel your late afternoon ride when you stayed too late at work and it's getting too close to dark to make a lap at your favorite trails. The light gives you the confidence to go ahead and ride and not worry if you come out 20 minutes after sun down! That's how I found night riding! If you haven't tried it yet you owe it to yourself to do so!
Surprised at the comment about FF, ok so a full on DH maybe hot and heavier but what about Met Parachute, bell super 2r? At the end of the day it comes down to protection..having a dig at someone who chooses a full face for safety is a bit childish. But I I guess they will be the ones with their teeth in tact at the end of the day!! Also consider the ability of the rider ? a novice would welcome extra protection. I also know people who ride hard tails and xc bikes (120 travel ) as a secondary bike in the winter but still ride much more aggressive than I could ever do, big drops jumps etc. They still would benefit a ff. Open face on trail and ff in bike parks for me !! but if I could afford a 3 rd helmet I wouldn't hesitate to get a super 2r and wear it on xc trails
Ha, about the trainers... I always wear vans and always have, I've tried other solutions and it has just never worked for me and I've given up on looking

If there's anything else you can think of, or about changes to my list, mention them down below.
I don't see how ragging on full face helmets should be in here even if it's a joke. When it comes to protecting your noggin there should be no joking around. I crashed so many times when I first Started I wish I jumped into a full face earlier
don't EVER fiddle with someones suspension settings
That's a good one!
Yeah. Once got back to my bike and someone thought it'd be funny if they let the air completely out of my rear shock...
Didn't know who it was :/
Just went to a gas station (riding saggy af) and maxed out the compressor or how it's called in english.
same name as here :)
skitone69 are you agreeing with yourself
You guys r full of it, ride with what ever makes u happy, as long as u ride...and if u feel safer with a full face, do it....the range of age of riders is pretty wide. And as an older guy it sux to walk around in a suit and all sorts of scratches, if looking like robocop is what it takes it 2 get u on the trails then b it
I ride with a full face helmet and a neck brace anywhere because I've had a bad crash before and I value my life, and I would suggest everyone do the same if they are going big on a mountain bike
Bobboy 235 i wear my full face everytime i ride my bike even on the road, it looks good, feels good and protects my whole face
I actually have more respect for riders like you when I see them than the judgy, bro'y douch bags with all the gear no idea and looks so feckin serious riding there santa cruz bikes I yell Sooooedurobro
mikieson - I love seeing people like you on the trails. All I can think is, "That dude is having fun and looks kick ass doing it."
lol..thanks man..:) i ride mostly on road so its funny when i see others all dressed in their skin suits or jerseys.. im all friendly and wave and like "HEY!!".. they probably thinking im just a horrible joke..hah..:D
This is probably one of the worst things in MTB is the all the gear no idea judging. When you see someone in a t-shirt and shorts and ordinary footwear when on flats it just means they couldn't give a crap about all the marketing BS in the bike industry. Most (not all) bike wear is ordinary outdoor kit but with slightly different cuts and inflated price tags.
mikieson Do you ride a Klunker?
always say hello to other riders
Why? I’m not someone to say hi and I notice ppl do this
@@100akerwoods just because, we have to share the joy with our people.
Why? Because politeness, solidarity and respect for each other. 👍🏼
@@mccalljeff replying to a year old comment just to throw some nonsense? Pure class act.
@@mccalljeff but you see yourself as a stranger on the internet fit to give lectures to others about what looks dumb on them? haha
I kinda broke the rule about full faces I wear a full face while on my 130mm trail bike but I am riding DH and Freeride tracks so I don't really have a choice.
I'd second this, if you're riding uplift, wear a full face. I call mine my confidence hat, great for trying new features.
Thomas Maxted I say wear one at all times but I also grew up around motorcycles and bmx so I've seen the consequences of not wearing one
As I started mountain biking I pretty much broke every one of them...
You're not alone bro..
I still do. But I don`t wear licra ever.
J&M Productions same here dude lol
Didn't we all? This was just a bit of fun, learning from our own personal mistakes and as much laughing at each other...
J&M Productions make a new video
I don't own a full face helmets but I've definitely been on some cross country type trails that had brief sections where a full face lid would sure be a good thing if you crash.
Well, I'm guilty of a few.
I wear a full face helmet, as it gives me more confidence by a large amount, and it just doesn't feel right riding with a non-full face helmet.
Also, I do sometimes wear pads UNDER jeans when riding dirt jumps.
Can I be forgiven guys?
Under the jeans if acceptable for Dirt Jumps! But these are just suggestions and a bit of fun ;)
Global Mountain Bike Network Okay, cool :)
But the lycra part isn't fun, at all.. If you're following somebody on a trial who wears bare lycra, you should keep your eyes away...
***** Aye Goggles are great.
***** Sure, why not? If you are travelling at any pace above jogging pace and something gets in your eye it can cause damage.
Dave Hughes you see how they're laughing the whole time. That means their not taking it serious. You should give it a try sometime
Aaron has got the right idea, it is just meant in good humour.
I'm guessing you are serious about the crap you spouted. Don't like it, don't watch it.
I wear running shoes😞😂
i wear hiking boots
I used to. Now I use vans or DC Shoes
That is ridiculous. Those things weigh in at like, 5 pounds!
Reason being that whatever shoes I buy for outdoor activities, they won't see the end of their second season and won't be looking pretty before the end of their first one.
running shoes are amazing on my dmr pedals. love the feel and control
Vans shoes are fine for dirt jumpers and hope f20 pedals are so grippy with vans.
PEPSI MAX trampoline uk vans are very good with some very cheap alluminium pedals
i have the f20 to and with vans it's perfect
PEPSI MAX trampoline uk vans are good if you get some skate/bmx shoes
\m/ Jack The Ripper \m/ they're also good for mtb... the soft sole with a lot of holes lets the pins enter and attack to the sole
I always put on my full face when it’s raining. Best thing ever!
Kidding. But I do wear a full face helmet on decends pretty much always.
I love full face helmets. First, they look super cool. Second, they undoubtedly give you hell more protection than any open-face helmet. And I believe, the latter is the major reason, for why we wear helmets.
Same, i wear a FF helmet when doing XC ( it's more nervous than XC but it's no DH either), i'm more confident with the better protection for my face
Yep! full face for the downs. I ride techy/super quick stuff and I am waaaay more confident knowing I'm not going to smash in my money maker 😊
'half face' for commuting etc. don't want to look a full on knob 😂
Anonymous_legion is a hardtail considered a xc I have a boardman comp 27.5 mtb
I wear my full face all the time, XC or trail bike.
Never going back.
(it's a "light" full face though, MET Parachute)
Being slim with really long legs, the Enduro Gap (boy am I glad there's a name for that) is hard to avoid and I don't care during the summer.
But a 3/4 short is just long enough to close the gap during winter :-)
Why would you not use a fullface helmet XC, you can crash hard riding XC too.
Lars Boon I notice in the UK they are really against it for some reason and here in the states it's a standard across all mtb riding
Cody ahh okay, thank you
Lars Boon I've never understood their reasoning
Cody nah me neither, I always ride fullface, even when I'm just riding crosscountry
I'm in the state's and full face is pretty standard here.
i feel you got the helmet rule the wrong way around! i have no problem seeing someone riding xc with a full face, it just shows they want extra protection. However seeing kids on budget hardtails and xc helmets locking out the brakes on downhill tracks just looks silly.
BeatJumper 👽
Yes .sometimes I wear my full face for extra protection if I know I will be on sketchy trails. I'M 60yrs old and I break easier nowadays😁
(I don't go on mtb trails so there is no chance of me falling on a bike lmao)
dude
don't call a full suspension bike a soft tail .YOU WILL GET LAUGHED AT!!!!!!!
rich porter Unless it's a Cannondale Chase obvz
Know from experience eh porter?
wuuuuut? soft tail?
maybe there's also "hard front" for rigid fork
or this new BMC XC hardtail...
I disagree
DON'T use Strava on 'illegal' trails!
Just stop it. Don't record rides on private land!
yeah, ok, maybe we shouldn't ride there to begin. But trails that have been in private forests for tests are getting shut down because people are GPS-ing them for the world to see. If the land owner didn't notice then that means the trail is not destructive or bad.
Guilty of everything except the skinsuit and just because I couldn't find one.
0:26 turn on English captions 😳😳
A Sainsbury's plastic bag dangling from the handlebars with your water and food in is very cool.
ive worn my full face on the fatbike! because i was riding dh trails!
I ride in the Central California area
makes sense to me. I like my teeth
Strongly disagree with Tights and baggy top. Especially with a jacket.
I wear full face for trails... Why the hell not?
Guy it’s just like wearing a swimming bodysuit in the hot tub. No function.
Vans or converse are perfect for riding though... you can tell exactly where you are on the pedals, they are on the lighter side of most shoes youll find, and the grip is pretty damn good
Also look stupid wearing a full face on a fe bike?
More protection which means you can push it harder and feel fairly safe about it, you can get better mounts for a camera, and most full faces have speaker pockets for tunes while riding.
Video was pretty ego driven tbh
Came here to look for someone who was also riding with his Vans... Thanks bro! Hope you still doing this 3 years later...
I got one. Don't be that guy that stops in the middle of the trail.
When you pull off to the side, make sure you catch your footing. Otherwise, you'll crash into another rider. Ask me how I know (it was my fault).
I use full face on my hardtail and i am always scared to use it out in public trails because everyone judges me.
Me too but I wear it anyway
Dont put double crown fork on hardtail !!!
Šimon Rigas exactly, put it on a bmx where it belongs.
bob dole trials bike is its true home you scrubs lol jk
tf
Unless it's a free ride or jump bike then be my guest
*Dartmoor Hornet has left the chat*
safety > style ! I always wear a full face on any trail, and it has saved me a bunch of times
Another unwritten rule:
Always give the rider ahead a shout before passing.......'On your left!' you get the idea.
If Scotty Cranmer can have a fluke crash that nearly ends his life I think we are all knocking on that door...I keep my full face helmet on.
Damn. That crash is absolutely scary - especially after you've seen how the poor guy looks now. Just makes you wonder about all the places you've been to that could have ended the same or worse. To be honest though, he was on a nimble bike with 20" wheels. To my knowledge, it happened because his wheel got stuck.
On occasion ill do the full face and XC bike. however im not on "XC trails" when doing so
I dont really care if im wearing my kappas, wellies or mtbing shoes. Or do anything other on this list, i just shred.
for any super pro, a full face helmet looks so bad ass with any bike..I'm sure many of you guys saw Fabio Wibmer's Out Of Mind :D
Mixing lycra and baggy is alright if you do it the other way round; baggy shorts and tight shirt!
i do this sometimes
I was considering some those tight pants with baggy shorts and shirt. Anything to keep my legs warm in the winter.
yeah, Cannondale XC team actually uses that combo.. nothing wrong with that.
Yep, works great if you want to finish your ride and head straight to the gay bar !!
JuanDinger265 Someone here is insecure.
There is only one rule to mtb'ing that is important.
Have fun doing it
don't get dragged down by what others say you should and shouldn't do, if it's fun and you don't risk yours and others safety do it
sounds like it's a fashion show more than a sport
This episode should have been titled "The fashion police of mountain biking."
Who cares ??? ... Live long and ride bro. This an episode for the haters.
Here are real unwritten Rules.
1 - Don't ride the trail backwards.
2 - Don't leave you trash.
3 - Don't ride muddy trails.
4 - Don't be a jerk
5 - Alwaya tell someone where you are riding.
6 - Wear a helmet
7 - Don't be a bike snob
8 - Leave your gun at home
9 - Take water
10 - Take an extra tube.
I sometimes bike barefoot on a trail near my house.
Don't be a unfriendly too cool for Skool gear snob
MTB shoes are so expensive!
Yes you can use vans as mtb shoes they're pretty grippy.
Whats with classes under a fullface helmet or hair in your face with a helmet or a back protector over your jersey (WE WANT PART 2)
Wear what you want..and ride what you want. Just do you. Who cares what people think
always ask a fellow rider if they need a hand if there bikes f##ked.. was at Degla a while ago and was passed by atleast 12 riders and only 1 stopped..
Bullshit. I did not used to use full facehelmet. My head has more metal than bone. Don`t make same mistakes.
Search for Mountain biker loses teeth and then tell me full face helmets are a no-no.
lycra under baggies is ok, no?
great in the winter to wear bib-trousers under shorts. warm.
I live in aus so even on a cold day its not below 12 degrees so all these comments of people trying to stay warm boggle my mind when my biking outfit is shorts and a t shirt
never skip an episode of gmbn.. the best unwritten rule yet
Damn... We should have included this one!!!
Kingsoupturbo where baggy shorts over tight under stuff thats what i do for winter
Just done wear lycra for an outer layer with a baggy other half. I wear leg warmers but under baggy shorts, perfect, warm legs and no scrubbing your legs in the shower to get mud off
+Fluffymuffins246 agreed!!!
you are not rit
Never forget beer
Rule #1: Just go ride, whatever your gear looks or has cost. Take your bike and helmet and go cycling!
Damn Scotty! Back at it again with the white vans!!
I love your vedio but I still ride with my own rules, wear what ever I want, ride safe and have fun.
And don't ride a dual crown while wearing a half shell
Khyren Hoskovec exactlyyyy
NAHHH u have to it makes u look GNARLY
matthew Gomersall use a DH bike for hill climbing to look Gnarly
anthony quiles Haha
Turtle power!
Unwritten rule: yield to uphill traffic
Aaron Isotton ew no
It's much easier for the downhill rider to get going again, which is why this isn't an "unwritten" rule, but an IMBA written trail rule. Downhill riders yield to uphill riders, except on one way or downhill specific trails.
Ah my local trails are all one way bliss, that loop around so you've always got another uphill/downhill section to move onto.
The day I'll hit my face on a rock or something I'll be glad to wear a full face helmet, even in XC
All my biking clothes come from Aldi. Cheap, hardwearing and stylish!
Idgaf, I’ll ride full face on any type of bike because it adds more protection if you fall off :C
lycra under baggies is fine o_0
not that I'd ever do it... o/c
;-)
King Rat I always wear baggies over my Lycra. I wear bib short Lycra to stop my bollox bouncing around and wear baggies so I can keep stuff handy in my pockets q._.p
King Rat What they meant was wearing lycra shorts and a baggy top or vice versa. That really looks stupid.
Convertible pants over lycra rocks! Start out cold with legs on, take off as it heats up. Ride shorts, then put the legs on when you get to the overgrown section.
I've gotta judge cloths on performance, not looks. If they look good also, that's fine (until you wash out in the mud@)
Lycra under baggies is for sure fine, we were more pointing to the lycra shorts and baggy jersey, not quite aesthetically pleasing!
Downhill baggies over Long Lycra pants works great for the coldest of bikepark days.
I feel like a squid wearing a bmx/skate style helmet but honestly its better than nothing... I'd rather walk away than not
I wear fullface even when i walk.
It drives me crazy when I go biking, and there's a group up ahead of me taking a break. And then right before I get to them they start going in front of me.
Question: What did they mean with the lycra and the baggies?
As in baggy top, lycra bottoms.
Lycra and baggies is like the boardshorts over your wetsuit in kiteboarding! In Ontario Canada I wear whatever makes sense for the weather.
When I was still wearing flats I would bike with the checkered off the wall vans
I think the most Important rule in mountainbiking is respect. Just have some respect for each other and i think it will be a great ride for you.
Can u guys do a vid with *Tips about Night riding*
R cribb987 I thought they did before
I'm pretty sure I seen it from this channel
That's a great idea! I just got into that and wow it's super fun! Wish someone would've told me years ago! Not only a scheduled night ride but just having a decent light so you don't have to cancel your late afternoon ride when you stayed too late at work and it's getting too close to dark to make a lap at your favorite trails. The light gives you the confidence to go ahead and ride and not worry if you come out 20 minutes after sun down! That's how I found night riding! If you haven't tried it yet you owe it to yourself to do so!
Never get caught without at least 1 beer for the top of the climb.
Y boy been waiting for this
Don’t judge other people’s skill off their bike
True
Ha, about the trainers... I always wear vans and always have, I've tried other solutions and it has just never worked for me and I've given up on looking
we cant put our unwritten rules in here. then they'd be written Scott!!!
I'm going to do all of those, thanks for the tips.
I had to turn down the brightness of my screen when you showed Scotty's bare thigh!
Thumbs up for the laughs. You CAN see skin above my knee guards because you're looking. Quit looking at my legs.
never ever use a roadie hat... even if you are a roadie, don't do that!
I saw Martyn on the one show, he was great. I was truly inspired. There was no advertisement for the channel though. :)
