- Hidden cave of Phizo, Rani Cave in New puilwa village under peren district of Nagaland. The famous revolutionary Rani Gaidinliu went into hiding during her revolt against the British rule. Since then, this place has become a sort of legend for the Naga people. After independence, A Z Phizo carried out his struggle for the Naga identity from these caves hide out.

Next visit to Peren - Trek to 'Hera Pai Tu' [hope I spelt it correctly] the view point is amazing, a few minutes ride from Peren Town. The wind/breeze/view will mke u forget ur tiredness 😜. You can see the whole Peren town & it's surrounding villages/valley.

I like the fact that Nagaland towns have still managed to preserve a controlled housing growth so that over housing and over construction does not ruin the natural habitat. This mistake has happened in Darjeeling for example. Over construction for cheap profits (the typical mindset of people from Northern India) has destroyed many hill stations of mainland India like Shimla. Eastern and Northeast India is still preserved. Let’s hope we ca work more the keep it like this. Otherwise unbridled capitalism will destroy our future.

Who is Rani
Gaidinliu (26 January 1915 - 17 February 1993) was a Naga spiritual and political leader who led a revolt against British rule in India.[1] At the age of 13, she joined the Heraka religious movement of her cousin Haipou Jadonang. The movement later turned into a political movement seeking to drive out the British from Manipur and the surrounding Naga areas. Within the Heraka faith, she came to be considered an incarnation of the Goddess Cherachamdinliu.Gaidinliu was arrested in 1932 at the age of 16, and was sentenced to life imprisonment by the British rulers. Jawaharlal Nehru met her at Shillong Jail in 1937, and promised to pursue her release. Nehru gave her the title of "Rani" ("Queen"), and she gained local popularity as Rani Gaidinliu.
