While that might not be the case practically speaking, there will be those few believers who will still fight on for a democratic China. There were still people in the KMT who still believed in fulfilling the last of the Three Principles, so I'm sure that China would democratize, eventually. The PRC, on the other hand will not tolerate any opposition at all, considering the burn-it-all down nature of socialism, no matter it's variation.

I'm not so sure. Had you given Chiang Mao's power, the result could have been even worse. As far as I know, an indication could be the "wansui", a proclamation used for Emperors. It was used for Mao during the cultural revolution, not before or after. It started being used for Chiang right after the victory against Japan, imagine if he had been an autocrat for 20 years like Mao. Also even in Taiwan, where Chiang didn't have much power and was practically dependent on the USA, there wasn't any real movement towards democratisation during his lifetime.

It was NEVER for once performed in Taiwan, given the fact it's a piece of propaganda music of PLA and CCP. 99.9999999999% of the commentators are oblivious to such basic fact. They saw the flag and the first thought was Taiwan. That first thought ended up being the only thought that was there. The video creator imposed ROC flag in the background for the simple fact it was the ONLY Official flag of the entire China during WWII, during which CCP and KMT were allies. The Civil War broke out in 1946 and ROC only retreated to Taiwan in 1949, four years after the end of WWII. During WWII, Taiwan was the colony of Japan, as it had been since 1895. 200,000+ Taiwanese soldiers fought on the Axis side. 32000+ lost their lives under the Red Sun Flag for Imperial Japan. WWII for the Taiwanese Military was a complete defeat, not victory.

1940年1月，周恩来给斯大林的秘密报告提到，中国有百万以上的士兵阵亡或受伤（到1939年8月为止），其中，八路军伤亡仅有三万人，新四军则为一千人。
即抗战打了两年多，共产党在整个伤亡人数中只占百分之三。
那么整个抗战中，国共两党军队的伤亡人数是多少？
1 国军官兵
抗战期间，国军伤亡322万官兵，包括268位将领殉国，其中上将6人、中将57人、少将205人，其中有88位最后是和日本人直接面对面的白刃战，被刺刀捅死的。无辜百姓死亡人数超过2000万人，财产损失更是不可计数。
2 中共官兵
中共中央党校编的抗日战争史料上的数字显示：抗战8年中中共军队死160603人，伤290467人，被俘45989人，失踪87208人，共计584267人。据此推算中共方面阵亡的最高数字是20万人。而国军伤亡322万官兵。
但共军的阵亡数字有多少水分不说，其中包含对日军的战斗死亡，还包括对国军、伪军的作战死亡。共军抗日期间大部分是打国军扩大地盘，打日本连5% 都不到。按5%对日军作战率来计算阵亡，那么大概是1万人（20万X 5%=1万）左右死于对日战场。
中共抗战期间，除左权外没有任何一团级以上军官对日战斗中阵亡。左权是在指挥八路军总部“撤退”的过程中被日军炮弹击中而死的。
中共抗战期间阵亡的将领还有彭雪枫，高敬亭，刘志丹。他们是怎么死的？
中共“抗日”将军彭雪枫是战死在不打日寇却大打国民党的战场上，彭雪枫一直在打国民党，而不是在打日寇，1944年中共决定向河南敌后进军，8月彭雪枫奉命越过津浦铁路，行至小朱庄，攻击国军杂牌部队王传授部，击毙千余人，为新四军西进打开了大门。9月11日，在河南夏邑东八里庄围歼国军李光明部的战斗中，彭雪枫将军亲自指挥战斗，正当战斗取胜并快结束时，被流弹击中而死，时年37岁，他是打抗日的国军而死，不是为抗日而死，是为共产党而死。
刘志丹死于中共背后的冷枪
毛泽东到延安后，对于陕北土生土长、当地实力派人物的刘志丹等领导干部不放心，处心积虑必欲除之而后快。阴险的毛便以「抗日」为名，打发刘志丹率部「东征」。结果在黄河以西的三交镇渡口，与阎锡山的军队发生遭遇战，“中弹”而亡，刘志丹死时年仅33岁。这个弹是谁打的？
对于他的死因，报告说是敌人的机关枪在扫射进攻的红军时，打中了刘志丹的心脏，使他 「壮烈牺牲」。
其实，他是指挥，既不在冲锋队伍之中，更不在交叉火力点之内，而是在离现场200公尺外的小山头上观察战事，被中共从背后开枪打死的。
那时，他的警卫员被支走找医生，只有毛派去「保护」他的政治保卫局特派员；一看其胸前伤口，明眼人都知道子弹不是从胸口打进去的，而是从背后打进去的。在刘志丹死后，他所部的两位指挥员杨琪和杨森，也同样在战斗中离奇地「被击毙」了。
中共抗日将军高敬亭被中共所处决
1938年3月高敬亭率新四军的四支队抗日，高敬亭从1938年3月至1939年6月罹难的1年零4个月里，指挥部队先后同日伪军战斗几十次，其间，7月先后在皖中连续取得了13次战斗胜利。战绩大小，战绩大小，姑且不论，但高敬亭抗日却是真的。
他是在立下了抗日的战功之后，中共将他秘密逮捕，关押并枪杀于安徽省肥东县青龙场，时年，高敬亭仅32岁，为何要枪毙高敬亭，中共于今不敢公开内情，仅以高敬亭受“错误路线”影响为借口。但确实是中共中央批准以“反党、反中央、反革命”的罪名枪毙高敬亭的。在安徽民间有传说，认为他正是因为不听上面不准打日本的命令，才遭遇杀身之祸的。
从大战役数估算看国共对日军抗战
几百万国军挑起抗日救亡的重担。发动10万人以上的会战22次，如淞沪会战、徐州会战、武汉会战、四次长沙会战，衡阳会战等。中国战区最高统帅蒋介石动用70万国军发动的淞沪会战，国军空军炸毁日本海军陆战队司令部，炸沉日本海军第3舰队旗舰，国军陆军而五次发布动员令以补充战损，超过半数的团职以上高级将领以身殉国。淞沪会战未能阻止日军占领上海，但使日军的速决战战略遭受挫折，还为上海工业向西转移赢得三个月时间。除集团会战之外，尚有大型战役1117次，小型战斗28931次。在常德保卫战中，第74军第57师的8000名官兵阻击10万日军15天之久，最后只有200人能够战斗。师长发出的最后一封电报是：“弹尽，援绝，人无，城已破。职率副师长、师附、政治部主任、参谋部主任死守中央银行，各团长划分区域，扼守一屋，作最后抵抗，誓死为止，并祝胜利。”
国军抗战中的22次大会战，是数以十万计的正规兵力对阵，绝大部分牺牲的将军都是阵亡（个别自杀殉国）在惨烈的阵地战斗中。
中共在抗战期间也就打了的“百团大战”（1940年8月至1941年1月），1937年9月“平型关战斗”，1944年3月“车桥战斗”等战斗，其中车桥战斗”消灭465个日本兵，居然是中共军队1944年前的7年当中，消灭日军最多的一次。
被击毙的日军将领
抗战中，击毙日本将官129人。据侵华日军总司令冈村宁次回忆，中共军队仅击毙击毙日军将官仅阿部规秀一人。
但中国官方史料记载，有126名日军将领在和国民党军队作战中阵亡；另有3名日军将领是死于跟八路军的作战。
从上述的数字对比，不难看出到底谁在抗日。

While that might not be the case practically speaking, there will be those few believers who will still fight on for a democratic China. There were still people in the KMT who still believed in fulfilling the last of the Three Principles, so I'm sure that China would democratize, eventually. The PRC, on the other hand will not tolerate any opposition at all, considering the burn-it-all down nature of socialism, no matter it's variation.

I'm not so sure. Had you given Chiang Mao's power, the result could have been even worse. As far as I know, an indication could be the "wansui", a proclamation used for Emperors. It was used for Mao during the cultural revolution, not before or after. It started being used for Chiang right after the victory against Japan, imagine if he had been an autocrat for 20 years like Mao. It might seem a nitpick, but I think this minor point can say a lot about the power of a cult of personality in China.
Also even in Taiwan, where Chiang didn't have much power and was practically dependent on the USA, there wasn't any real movement towards democratisation during his lifetime.

A simple clarification:
The composition of the song was commissioned in 2015 by the government of Peoples Republic of China at the behest of CCP and PLA to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. It debuted on August 16th 2015 in the official celebratory gala organized by PLA and was livestreamed on CCTV (China Central TV) throughout China. It has since been regularly performed at official events within Mainland China. It was NEVER for once performed in Taiwan, given the fact it's a piece of propaganda music of PLA and CCP.
99.9999999999% of the commentators are oblivious to such basic fact. They saw the flag and the first thought was Taiwan. That first thought ended up being the only thought that was there. The video creator imposed ROC flag in the background for the simple fact it was the ONLY Official flag of the entire China during WWII, during which CCP and KMT were allies.
The Civil War broke out in 1946 and ROC only retreated to Taiwan in 1949, four years after the end of WWII. During WWII, Taiwan was the colony of Japan, as it had been since 1895.
200,000+ Taiwanese soldiers fought on the Axis side. 32000+ lost their lives under the Red Sun Flag for Imperial Japan. WWII for the Taiwanese Military was a complete defeat, not victory.
