  • The Church is located toward the south end of the city; can be reached by city bus or use your car and drive because there is a large parking area across the street from the Abby. Free to enter and opened most days from 8 am to 7 pm. The Abbey holds countless treasures but is most noted for the relics of the Apostle Matthias (the Apostle who was chosen by the remaining Apostles to replace Judas). Although the Cathedral is open to the public, please be aware that you can not just visit during regularly held services or special events. Check out their website before you visit. Lastly it is important to know St. Matthias Abby is the only grave north of the Alps of an Apostle. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and has much to offer, so make sure you allow time to visit St. Matthias Basilica while in Trier.

There is an error in the script. There were 12 apostles. Jadas betrayed Jesus and hung himself so MAtthias replaced him: surely is is the 13th

In the year of about 800 A.D. some knights had stolen the bones of a true Israelite out of his grave, who died at the age of 63 without any crime. Trier knows very well, that the seventh commandment was committed. So Trier committed against all commandments. How about repentance? How about bring back the bones of Matthias back to Jerusalem? If you don‘t repent, Jesus can not forgive you. The righteousness demands the honest repentance to bring thee bones back to Jerusalem, there to the original grave of Matthias of the cemetary .
