I cannot express to you how much your honesty means to me. It is beyond refreshing, especially when it’s unfortunately not the normal. I also love the way you carefully build the product instead of haphazardly whacking it on
I always click on your reviews first as I know you are more concerned with honesty and giving valuable information to your subscribers. So many other creators seem to be all about promotion of their affiliate codes - more about selling us things than honest reviews.
Also, I don’t think it’s just you! I think other creators are afraid of saying negative things because it can affect their popularity, income, collaborations etc… thanks for the honesty! I don’t love the color story so I probably wouldn’t have picked these up, but it’s so refreshing to hear something other than ‘it’s amazing’ over and over about everything
thanks for the honesty, I feel like many people are suspiciously bit overexcited about these where I would expect them to react more like meh. I do like Odens Eye for a long time but to be honest each one of of my palettes from them have some shades that hardpanned immediately when I swatched them or used them like once and I think the last few releases colourstorires were quite undewhelming
Australia is going into summer so rosy jingle is perfect for the southern hemisphere Christmas. I think the north often forgets the international market ❤
Thank you for being honest! I have Oden's Eye palettes and since the two Christmas palettes last year I don't really enjoy their formula so much. The color stories in last year's palettes were not very Christmasy for me personally, and this year's are just as meh and don't scream Christmas either. If they want to do a pastel theme they could have used pastel pink and pastel green in the same palette but I feel like whoever designed these palettes don't consider what's cohesive in a palette and still give the holiday vibes. With shipping it's not cheap either, and I completely lost interest in this brand. I watched a few influencers who seem to say what the brand wants them to say, so far you and Allie Dawson are the two I saw that are honest how they feel about these palettes.
Thank you for providing an honest review. I am sick of influencers saying a product is good when it’s not bc they don’t want to loose the free makeup they get in PR. When I started watching makeup TH-cam videos, one of the influencers raved about odens eye so dumb me wanted it all and bought what I could and would buy every release, but then I noticed over time the quality wasn’t all that great or long lasting, but influencers were still raving how great it was. I truly appreciate the honesty and wished more influencers were like you, because it helps my wallet, especially in today’s with everything costing so much and you want the thing you might splurge on for yourself to be worth it. Tfs
You are not the only one saying that OE’s formula is slipping. I’ve seen a few other content creators say the same, and I’ve noticed it myself with some releases since the 2022 holiday gems. I have loved OE for a long time but patchy mattes and hardpan or dry shimmers are making them fall away from other companies now. I appreciate your honesty, particularly since you have worked closely with the brand!
For me I noticed the decline of odens eye with the halloween palettes last year. They don't stay on the eye anymore. Within an hour I was missing mattes right in the middle of my eye I had to blink as little as possible because it looked horrible. It isn't just you!
Thank you for your transparent review - we all really appreciate your honesty. I'm sure it's not easy to give anything less than a glowing review to a company you've worked with closely in the past. Hopefully they're tuning in and will take your feedback to heart with future launches. These palettes are pretty but I don't think I'd get enough use from them. I'd be into Oden's Eye releasing a limited edition holiday empty magnetic palette with a fill-your-own option or a suggested color story bundle. How about mittens/Nordic knitting as a theme for Christmas?
Annette I appreciate a lot how honest you are in this review -especially with you being a collaborator of the brand- so thank you for that. ♥ I don't think the blending is a you problem at all. I have 8 Oden's Eye palettes starting from Alva I till Jewels and Gem + Stone and Rock. I honestly find their formula has always been hit or miss even within one palette. I keep buying them because they are good for the price and easily accessible to me in the EU. I might still pick up Silvery Bliss despite the formula, because the colour story is very much my taste and 15/16 shades would be very useful to me (this doesn't happen often). But I'll wait until black friday and place only one order to avoid high shipping costs. If it sells out, it sells out.
Exactly. Odens Eye has had bad quality batches from day 1. I also own the old Alva and Norns and I had Giant Wolves which was so bad I threw it away years quickly years ago. It was so dry and not pigmented and all the shimmers were clearly not properly formulated... One was dried out and fell apart in the pan, the other was hard panned on arrival and the other was sticky like glue w separated glitters 🙄
@@EXOmakemeHorololo Wow I used to be so sad that I didn't get Giant Wolves and felt extreme fomo when it sold out. I thought it was one of their top palettes in terms of quality and I loved the colour story. My favourites are Urd, Norn's, Christmas Eve and Jewels and Gem. I use them very often but still I find some of the shades very hard to work with and the original Norn's even had a dud with the red shade. I only buy on black friday (with the exception of Christmas Eve) cause that's the only time I feel it's really worth it.
Oh, man,i do love odens eye, i was collecting all of their pallettes until after last Christmas. Lately, nothing seems to catch my eye. Bright pink and red are not my thing, but i do wish them luck on this launch. I bought the whole collection of shimmers and was dissatisfied because they were so chunky, i thought they would be smoother, i never wear them, and they basically sit in my vanity, which seriously breaks my heart to even write in these comments.
Love your reviews! I stopped buying Odens Eye because every palette hard panned on me, and the mattes were often too sheer. The shimmers hard panned almost right away, and I treat my palettes well and use brushes... not impressed. It is a shame because I do love their packaging and their color stories are creative. But you are better off with other indie brands like Ensley Reign, Blend Bunny, Bella Beaute, Unearthly, Fantasy Cosmetica...
Thank you again for your honest review 👏🏽 these color stories aren't my cup of tea so it's an easy pass and hearing that the formula isn't the best just closes the deal. So good to see your beautiful face 🥰😘
I'm not into the color stories that much as the last holiday releases and I've noticed their shimmer formula is almost always a let down. They're just squishy or hard pan not long after using them but I loved their matte formula so this is sad to see that they are now patchy and hard to blend. Thank you you for being so honest especially being so close to the brand ❤️
I honestly believe that the quality did not just this year decrease, but prior to that. Floating in dreams talked a lot about her theory that OE has two different batches and that is the reason why people are so divided about them.
And she's right. If you ever take the time to watch reviews of their palettes from people who actually paid for them you will see the exact same issues reported years and years back!I had an issue with very dry, chalky mattes and squishy hard panned or crumbly shimmers when I bought the Giant Wolves palette.. I decluttered it very quickly cause it was plain bad. First palette I ever just threw out. I also bought their Alva II and Nornes mini palettes at that time and I had the same issues w multiple shades. The Dragon palette from Judy which was made at the same time had none of these issues despite having the "same" formula. And I have had the same issues happening over and over again and stopped buying Odens Eye. My Jewel palette had multiple messed up crap shimmers and my Halloween dry chalky mattes and hard panned shimmers...
My biggest issue with the brand is their shimmers always get hardpan QUICK. I like their palettes but I found them to be pricy for the packaging and payoff. I hardly ever touch their last Christmas launch. I still haven’t decided if I want to buy these so maybe I’ll let the consumer decide if they sell out or not.
Haha love you. You are not the only one with with the feeling that something is not the same with the shadows. Great review. I have both palettes from 2022 so I am all good. The silver palette caught my eye but have been purchasing too much shadow already.
I’m with you on the color story. At first I was confused but then I liked how nonChristmasy the palettes are since so many other holidays exist and not everything needs to be green and red. I won’t be purchasing since I have had some trouble with the shimmers going hard panned and the mattes not being as blend-able in the past few palettes I’ve purchased from them. The formula definitely did change and I don’t really want any makeup that doesn’t perform the way I want it to and with a color story this is nice but not for me, if that makes sense.
Thanks for your honest review Annette! If I didn't see the palette covers, I would not be able to connect these to the holidays. First impressions were vampire/Halloween and Strawberry Shortcake. Themes aside, it's unfortunate to hear that the quality is lacking. I've had some issues with the Oden's eye palettes in the past as well where the mattes are patchy and the shimmers get hard panned. I don't have this problem with other brands like Blend Bunny, Cosmic Brushes or Ensley Reign. I still really liked the looks you created. You're always so inspiring!
Yeah. Odens Eye palettes have ALWAYS had the same quality issues. From years back. They have quality control issues with terrible batches. Usually creators get the good batches so no one ever talks about it. But it's time people realise that there is a 50% chance you get a bad palette at all times 😅 I have bad dry chalky Odens Eye palettes w hard panned or dried out shimmers I never even used sitting in my drawers 😢
Am I the only one who has Oden’s Eye shadows hard pan ASAP after swatching once or using a couple times?! No one ever talks about that so I think it might just be me.
Did my response to your comment seriously get shadow banned? So much for appreciating honesty lol...FYI I've had the same experience, you're not alone.
Definitely it's not just you noticing this issue! I got Angie's original hela palette and it was/is awesome! Everything I've tried since then has left me pretty unenthusiastic about the brand. I get a ton of patchiness, and it's been worse with the most recent palletes I tried. I've actually decided not to buy anything again from OE because I can't trust the reviews. There's a conspiracy theory out there that they send better formula palletes to influencers and sell a less quality product to customers, but even if the issue is not that and it's just influencers feeling like they can't give an honest review, either way I'm over it. I've been burned by the expectation being really high and the reality being far from it, and I'm not made of money. I'm just gonna buy Blend Bunny and Cosmic Brushes lol. Regardless, I always watch your reviews because of your honesty and directness. Thanks for staying true to yourself and giving us the real info. I'll keep watching even if I can't bring myself to buy from brands that have delivered subpar products to me in the past.
I trust your judgement on the formula and I appreciate your honesty. I have one palette from this brand (red dragon) and I had to re-press the shimmers but the mattes are amazing. According to others, there seems to be inconsistencies in Oden's Eye eyeshadow quality. I think the looks turned out great. Thank you for your thoughts!
You re right with the formular. I feel the same about it, and it makes me sooo sad. Odens eye was always my favorite brand. Beautiful packaging, beat Formular nice price...i am confused too...some talked about that the last palette hasnt a good formular, but i think they test the palettes not enough...one video with swatches 2 looks and you will never heard anything about it...its annoying...im happy about you re honestly reviews❤
I have never really understood the hype around Oden's eye. I have tried four of their palettes, all since decluttered. It just took me four times to figure out that I don't like the formula. All four of the palettes were disappointing to me. I'm done now, no more Oden's eye. I don't understand why this brand is everybody's darling.
Same.. I bought into the hype in the beginning because of easy access in Europe and I liked some of the color stories.. But had a horrible experience with them when they first launched their singles and at that point they lost me completely and forever.. Doesn't matter how easy they are to get or not.. But I feel like a lot of influencers have fed the hype so much, even though you hardly saw them use any of it anymore afterwards (with a few exceptions of people and palettes, tbc).. So definitely appreciate Annette's honest opinion as always 🎉
1:28 or it’s for someone in the southern hemisphere ◡̈ living in NZ and almost everything christmas available being for cold weather in summer is a little frustrating.
i love oden's eye, BUT with my olive tone skin and tanned as i always am, red has NEVER been a colour for me, i really dont like red eye shadow nor orange or even yellow, lipsticks or blushes red is great but not for my eyes though. however, my fair sisters look so amazing with it though🥰 so, im not buying this thank you for the review♥
Thank you Annette, really appreciate your review. Nothing from OE has really caught my attention lately and hearing you and Theresa is Dead talk about the quality deteriorating/being hit and miss has made me even more reluctant to pick anything up. I may see what Black Friday prices are saying or maybe pick up a mystery box next year but not sure I can see myself picking anything up from them full price (if at all to be honest) until it gets the gold standard from you or Theresa.
The last OE palettes I bought are from the collabs in February and they are amazing. I will buy the Rosy Jingle and see for myself of something changed with the formula :) I see a lot of peope complain about hard panning but even my palettes from 2022 are still working great. There was only one OE palette so far that did not work for me so I believe they might have problems with quality control so that even in the same collection some pallets work better than others.
i’m no longer interested in oden’s eye most recent releases which is interesting because i used to feel so much FOMO over the brand. the last palletes i’ve picked up was the legendary diversa collection. the main gripe i have with them is how similar their color stories have been.
I appreciate your reviews! I have many odens palettes and honestly, same thoughts. Their palette quality is no longer what it used to be. Their launches from last year and this year are not at par anymore with previous years. Something has definitely changed in their formulation. I truly hope it goes back to their amazing quality, because at the moment I’m not as enthused to pick up their launches. :( you still pulled off lovely looks! 🥰
I have been so bummed about the Natasha Denona primer being discontinued. I'm guessing she's working on a talc-free formulation but it's taking a long time.
Hi Annette! I’ve used the plouise primer for 5+ years and i feel like going darkest to lightest helps. Im also on odenseye pr and i do think that brown bottom shades more of a satin maybe and i hope they dont do more shades like that. I also hate the natasha cream to powder 😂
I have heard that the P Louise Primers are more greasy. I think Caitlin Costello said she was convinced she had oily eyelids when she used P Louise bases, and since changing primers she doesn’t have that issue anymore.
I don't think it's your eyes. I've also noticed. And there's been a few other creators that have mentioned it. Unfortunately not all creators will risk losing PR so we don't get the full honest review. I've watched a certain creator struggle to blend and layer while still saying how great it is. 😂 It's just the way it is. 😂
It's really disappointing to hear and see about the new formular. Because I happen to love light colors on my eyes. (I love dark colors on others just not on me.) And that Rosy Jingles palette is pulling on my heart strings 😢
Hey sweetie catching up! I have to say I like the color story of the darker palette I forgot the name at the moment however I don't think I'm going to find anything that stacks up to their Christmas Day release that they did two years ago I mean that pallet has definitely blew me away so I'm not sure if I'm going to grab this if I do it will be the darker palette for sure not the one with the pastels although I do like the shimmers in the pastel maybe they'll come a time where we can purchase individual shadows from actual pallets that Oden's Eye creates because I wouldn't mind having the darker toned palette paired with a few shimmers from the other pallet as well! We can hope? You made them both work wonderfully though as always! Thanks for reviewing the pallets Annette! I really do come to rely on your thoughts and opinions when I'm on the fence with something! You are definitely my number one go to Creator when it comes to questions and also when I need inspiration as well! 🙏❤️🥰
That rosy palette reminds of all kinds of colours in the cold winter sky, when it’s not 100% cloudy. Those who have seen that, will know how some bright sunset/sunrise colours look like. Or how pastely part of the sky looks when the sun is close to the horizon reflecting onto white snow everywhere, doesn’t matter, whether that’s very Northern or very Southern parts of the globe, when winter hits them. 💁🏼♀️
One palette is Vamp Christmas that was supposed to be Vamp Halloween. The other one is Easter Christmas that is supposed to come out in spring. Last year's Reindeer was also a spring palette imo 😊
Yeah the formula has definitely changed. I started noticing it with the last Halloween palettes. Yours was good so I was hopeful there was a rebound but it doesn’t appear so.
It is weird. I have palettes from them that are super old, the more "middle" ones like your first collab, and last year's Hey Reindeer. I feel like the Hey Reindeer has an improved shimmer formula, but I definitely agree that the older matte formula (from around the Giant Wolves and 1st Hela release era) were much better. It's not just you.
I don't like these color stories enough to try the brand again yet. Made the mistake of getting all 4 xmas palettes last year and the shimmers were as much fallout as normal, but the mattes were not good even though in other previous palettes the mattes were pretty good. Giant wolves was a good formula and mighty monster, you had warned about one of the matte shades abd both color stories were really good.
Not a fan of "red" shadow palettes. I really wish they had put out a silver, blue, green, gold palette. I would be ok with one or two red shades but this too much. Thanks for the review
Ok I only own one odens eye palette it’s actually the Christmas one from last year I believe and it’s the best I’ve ever tried I’m not a fan of pastels so would definitely skip that one but the first one wow I want that so so bad love the color story gorgeous
Their formula is definitely not great, especially the mattes. I was so disappointed in last years holiday releases. I won’t be buying any more odens eye. Steph from Stephlovesmakeup has been open about her issues with the formula too.
Its 1000000000% not just U! Ur just one of the few thats being openly honest! Ive heard a few smaller creators say the same things..its the mid to larger creators that continue to lie and pretend everything's perfect so they can keep making $ and getting free shit!
Dare i say it?..... Their first Christmas lunch is the best out of 3 holidays they done until now😂, i thought down to colour selection, formula and schemes of that red-blue palette duos is better. I'm scared that oden's eye when Christmas 2025 happened next year they stuck to do it just because to "i do it everytime" and we started able to spot more and more saturated different that make us upset to said "wow i experience the best from them before why now leaning to be less spectacular every holiday"
can you please go back to posting vegas videos on your vegas channel? we miss your “staying at the cheapest room in ___ hotel” series !! LOVE YOUUU GIRLL
💩 I just looove how I'm seeing great color stories FINALLY, but it's my broke year 😭😭 The darker palette here is one of the few or the only one that I've ever liked from Oden's. Nomad's Speakeasy is the only appealing one. So on and so forth.
I have some of their pallets and single eye shadows. I stopped buying it when I realized that they are simply lying and deleting bad reviews from their social media. It’s a 100% Chinese brand which pretends to be a “Swedish indie brand” which misleads customers. Their products are overpriced and I really hate this aggressive “positive marketing” they are spreading through the bloggers…
I cannot express to you how much your honesty means to me. It is beyond refreshing, especially when it’s unfortunately not the normal. I also love the way you carefully build the product instead of haphazardly whacking it on

💯!!
last years Reindeer and this years Rosy Jingle both remind me of 50’s vintage Christmas color schemes.
Agreed! 😊

Some formulas layer over lighter, others don’t and as I have zero idea which ones do which I always do my darkest first now no matter the brand.

Loved the video, thank you for the homesty! I missed you review of the divination pallete from blend bunny, I hope you are still doing it
1:28 or it’s for someone in the southern hemisphere ◡̈ living in NZ and almost everything christmas available being for cold weather in summer is a little frustrating.
Hi Annette, I honestly noticed a formula change since the Halloween palette collab with Angie and not for the best 😕💔
How similar would you say Silvery Bells and Skullz and Roses from Kaima Cosmetics are? I get S&Rs vibes from it.
i love oden's eye, BUT with my olive tone skin and tanned as i always am, red has NEVER been a colour for me, i really dont like red eye shadow nor orange or even yellow, lipsticks or blushes red is great but not for my eyes though.
however, my fair sisters look so amazing with it though🥰
so, im not buying this
thank you for the review♥
Thank you Annette, really appreciate your review. Nothing from OE has really caught my attention lately and hearing you and Theresa is Dead talk about the quality deteriorating/being hit and miss has made me even more reluctant to pick anything up. I may see what Black Friday prices are saying or maybe pick up a mystery box next year but not sure I can see myself picking anything up from them full price (if at all to be honest) until it gets the gold standard from you or Theresa.
Every single look was gorgeous!
💖 I always appreciate your honesty.
🫶❤️🫶 great info. I do love rare beauty and nars primer
I think these are adorable! I definitely like the color stories more than the holiday palettes from last year.
i’m no longer interested in oden’s eye most recent releases which is interesting because i used to feel so much FOMO over the brand. the last palletes i’ve picked up was the legendary diversa collection. the main gripe i have with them is how similar their color stories have been.
I have multiple OE palettes and the only shade I cannot use is from your giant wolves collab 😅 I am glad I have their good palettes
The silvery bliss palette is a dupe for Unearthly Warm my Blood. The second is a pastel palette in winter🧐
Great review, Annette! 😊🩷
They should re-release the Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas palettes. They did it best with those releases.
It's really disappointing to hear and see about the new formular. Because I happen to love light colors on my eyes. (I love dark colors on others just not on me.) And that Rosy Jingles palette is pulling on my heart strings 😢
I love your honesty. It's made me more aware of purchasing things. I won't be picking them up now. I didn't love the color stories anyway.
Thanks for honest review❤
I had these issues with the snowman Christmas palette last year - it was my first Oden’s Eye palette and I don’t think I’ll buy again.
I have definitely noticed a difference and I’m not purchasing from OE until things get better with the formula.
One palette is Vamp Christmas that was supposed to be Vamp Halloween. The other one is Easter Christmas that is supposed to come out in spring.
Last year's Reindeer was also a spring palette imo 😊
Thank you for being honest so I don't waste my money 😂 times are hard, I Will probably still get to just collect 😅😅
Thank you for being honest. Oe used to be one of my fav brands but i feel they've really fallen off over the last year or so ☹️
Yeah the formula has definitely changed. I started noticing it with the last Halloween palettes. Yours was good so I was hopeful there was a rebound but it doesn’t appear so.
I don't like them, just like I didn't like the ones from last year. I wish they were releasing one bold and one light palette instead of 2 light ones.
I usually collect the Christmas pallets but I might skip these.
Its 1000000000% not just U! Ur just one of the few thats being openly honest! Ive heard a few smaller creators say the same things..its the mid to larger creators that continue to lie and pretend everything's perfect so they can keep making $ and getting free shit!
I was hoping for something good. Yes, i know, everybody has a different taste and love other thing, but for me they are disapponinting.
I love chocolate! 😊
can you please go back to posting vegas videos on your vegas channel? we miss your “staying at the cheapest room in ___ hotel” series !! LOVE YOUUU GIRLL
Those new palettes are giving Valentines vibes to me. I don't see Christmas at all.
Your looks turned out beautiful 😊even if you weren’t completely impressed with them.
A pass for me😮
💩 I just looove how I'm seeing great color stories FINALLY, but it's my broke year 😭😭 The darker palette here is one of the few or the only one that I've ever liked from Oden's. Nomad's Speakeasy is the only appealing one. So on and so forth.
How can you have 2 Christmas palettes without any green?!
❤❤❤❤❤
I think the two color stories are too similar, and do not come across as Christmasy. I have their first two Christmas pallettes, and Love those
❤
🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶💜
I have some of their pallets and single eye shadows. I stopped buying it when I realized that they are simply lying and deleting bad reviews from their social media.
It’s a 100% Chinese brand which pretends to be a “Swedish indie brand” which misleads customers.
Their products are overpriced and I really hate this aggressive “positive marketing” they are spreading through the bloggers…
sorry- that palette is nuts
❤❤❤
