I am a Muslim, and I still remember I was soo popular during Diwali celebrations in our school, as I won every competition like rangoli making, Diya making, speech etc. Some of my Hindu friends used to say me that I know better than them about their religion, I think which is a good thing we share we learn and we respect.

Taking me back to 2010, when I was just a kid in 8th grade, life was all about fun and games. No exams, no worries-just the thrill of the physical education class, where kabbadi and kho kho ruled the day. We'd light up the stage with skits about Jesus Christ during Christmas, and on Eid, teachers would encourage us to share warm hugs, making us feel like one big family.
Holi, Diwali, Dussehra-the school was a riot of colors and celebrations. But it wasn't just limited to that; we even soaked in the joy of the Lohri festival, learning about Sikh traditions. Hate was nowhere in sight; we were too busy celebrating life.
Looking back, I realize how those school days shaped us into better human beings.

This story takes me back to my school days. In 2019, during the CAA protests, I found myself at JMI Delhi. Being originally from Kashmir, and with abrogation of Article 370 imposing a lockdown there, I was stuck. As the protests escalated, I observed many students leaving for home with their parents, a sight that left me feeling sad. The possibility of my parents coming to get me was distant. However, a junior of mine (Hindu) was getting ready to leave with his parents. Unexpectedly, he came up to me and said, 'Hey, buddy, come along with us.' His father got in touch with mine, expressing concerns about my safety here. He reassured my father that if any trouble arose in their city, he would protect me at all costs. The care and affection they showed during the next 15 days are still vivid in my memory. Even today, I ensure to visit their home every year, no matter where I am.

We had more Sikh students in school than Christian students. And we never knew what religious intolerance was ! We really had a great school time ! We never discussed religion in any matter . Our assembly prayers were always neutral ! Best time ever !

We were on our pilgrimage to Amarnath temple, during the stay in Shrinagar my son broke his forehand while playing and has to admit to hospital which was 25 km away from our stay. It was quite difficult to daily visit him and also as a mother I had to stay home with my other two daughters. My son was 11 years old, youngest anoungall the other patients, he used to cry due to pain, at that time, an angle muslim boy, who was only few years older, look after him as his little brother and helped him in taking bath and in other basic things, when I wasn't around, he brought him real juice pouches which were very costly at that time. We couldn't understand how someone can be so close without blood relation, even earlier we had not good opinion about muslims. I still remember him, he was truly pure hearted boy. I hope he is living the best life.

#MySchoolMemory : I used to study in a punjabi school in Varanasi . But, before our board exams our entire class was taken out to a Gurudwara where we had a shabad followed by prasad, then to a hanuman temple where we offered our prayers to lord hanuman and then finally to a mazaar of a sufi saint where we offered chadar and flowers. This instilled a value of inclusiveness among us and that's the idea of India we were tought in school where all religions and their practices were not only respected but also tought to us. This is the real India we should be teaching to children of our generation.

Although I was the only vegetarian in the party, her family made sure that every food item they had at the party had a vegetarian substitute just so that I feel included even though I had not mentioned about my being vegetarian. Infact, I myself had not considered that aspect until then when they assured me that they had taken utmost care about the religious aspect. So like i had changed my schools for some personal reasons and its always been to have a Hindu-majority class and as per being muslim i used to introvert coz i used to be scared of people(all thanks to godi media). I was kinda insecure until i talked with a person.
I never met a single person in my whole senior school life who judged me on my religion. Our class had benches but we used to eat together while sitting on the floor. There were brahmins, rajputs, muslims, etc and nobody had problem with each other. We used to eat together share food (non-vegan was not allowed)
I still have my friends number but like we all became apart of what we used to be.
We used to be a bit racist for fun but we all had a line, a limit. Everyone avoided sensitive racism and respected the borders created.
If any of my friend watchin this then brother, i wish we could spend one more lunch all together, one more class right of our favorite teacher, one more game of kabaddi, one more day of school.

I can recall that there is no religious boundaries in my school days. Everyone was a student who played, studied and ate together. We not only used to share our food but also our festivals( the joy of each other's festivals)
I had a muslim friend . And we always sit together . She was my best friend. I used to visit her home Eid and we went temple together in Janmastami. We just loved each other company. But in class 5, I had to leave my school due to some personal issue without informing her. We just stayed away from each other for 5 years. Unfortunately we did not have each other phone numbers as we were too young at that time. But I m very glad and thank to God that I met her last year at the same temple at the time of janmastami.
    Hare krishna💙

Back in fourth grade, my father got posted in Rajasthan's Phalodi and school was 30 kilometers away from home. We were the only Sikh students, and our appearance intrigued the locals.
Yet, their curiosity quickly turned into affection. Love flowed freely because, at that time, no one cared about our religion or background. We relished those days through shared meals and unforgettable camaraderie.
Although our Rajasthan stint lasted just two years, the memories shine brightly. Those golden days taught me that genuine connections transcend differences, uniting us in a beautiful tapestry of humanity

My school had sikh management but all the festivals were celebrated including Eid, Diwali, Christmas, Gurpurabs and even Parsi new years. The administration made sure that all classes have almost equal proportion all of the sections of society. #MySchoolMemory

I had a Muslim teacher to whom I was very close. He was the Scoutmaster, so I've a lot of memories of going to camps with him.
I remember once during Eid he called me to his house, but due to school I didn't go. So he came 15 km by bike to give Shirkurma to my house... I still can't forget that moment. He knew that I'm vegetarian so I can't eat Biryani, so he said, "Bas shirkurma khaa lena lekin aana zaroor"
Later.....I went with my parents to his house to give Sweets for Diwali.
Aaj bhi mai unko Eid ke din phone karke wish karta hoon.....it's been 4 years since this happened par abhi bhi woh mujhe yaad karte hai.....
This is what school life teaches you....

During a class discussion about festivals, I (Hindu) and my friend Sarah (Christian) found ourselves paired up. We were assigned to research each other's festivals and present to the class. As we delved into our partner's traditions, we gained a new perspective and appreciation for each other's beliefs. Our joint presentation not only impressed the teacher but also deepened our bond, proving that learning about one another's cultures can foster understanding and friendship.

#Myschoolmemory Everyone was excited whenever any festival came there were celebrations all around with everyone being part of it. We were scolded and asked to sit on floor as punishment for not completing homework etc but the slap was something which happened only in extreme cases and teachers were the responsible caretakers/ adults supposed to maintain order and moral compass of students.
Back then adults wanted children to live in their innocence as long as possible because that laughter and smile was fulfilling to see. As adults we loose something priceless and the whole video of that child crying feeling confused, alone, excluded and violence to such innocence is monstrous. when I think of school i remember friends, library, playground, annual functions, programmes, teachers, books, poems I appreciate now, nature and I hope this child forgets this trauma its too much to go through and remember.

#myschoolmemory- beautiful times leads to beautiful memories and school times are always nostalgic. There was no differentiation in the name of class, creed, religion. I take pride in having friends from muslim, Christianity, Parsi, Jain, Sikh communities and visiting each others houses during festivals, I remember even getting eidi from the elders of my friends family during Eid and relishing on sheer-korma, sewaiyan, biriyani, etc. I have even learnt classical singing in Mumbai and our Guruji used to treat all his students as his own children. His daughters cooked mouth-watering dishes and I have had scrumptious home-made meals during Iftar arrangements in their residence. I want that India back. Please God help get rid of all hatred and violence against a particular religion penetrating this society.

In my class most of the students were hindus and christians. We used to live happily with each other. I used to be day-scholars back then. My home was around 30km from the school. My bus driver (we called him Bullet bhaiya) was a muslim. He used to take us (the guys who lived near his home, I was one of those 10 boys) to his home in Eid and also the fair (mela). We used to enjoy a lot. During Dusherra Bullet bhaiya used to visit our home and we offered him various kind of dishes and some money (as gift for buying new clothes). It used to be wholesome!!! I have more such incidents. One more, Joseffer (name changed for privacy reasons) used to study in our class. Sadly her dad demised. We all had gone to visit her while coming back from school. ... I had a lovely childhood!!! It was a great time! I feel blessed and lucky to have such an amazing childhood.

I had really good friendship with many, in fact crush in one person from different religion too. I used to tell him answers in English exams becoz he was weak in the language. He too helped me, one time I remember I didn't bring A4 sheet for an assignment, he gave it to me. Though, he rejected my infatuation 🥲 that's the only beef. Point being, love is the only primal human nature, rest is just culturally embedded. So why to continue such nuisance when it does only harm and goes against the laws of nature?

I'm a Muslim, in school I had friends of all religions, Christians, Hindus, Muslims. I remember one time my hindu friend invited us for Sankranti. I was soooo happy, I told everyone at home and my grandparents home also that I have daawat on Sankranthi. I had gulab jamun, lemon rice, chicken curry and vada. 😘
    Woh bhi kya din the.

    #MySchoolStory
Well it's not my school story but I am a teacher, few days ago one of my hindu student written name of "Allah" In arabic on his bench same time a Muslim students wrote "Om" sign. Other muslim and hindu students were watching him. I thought this action can lead to a religious fight between them so I rapidly tried to rub that out, but students said "No sir wait you can't rub it by your hand" then both rubbed eachother's bench with their hands slowly, washed their hands, on the top of the flower pot. I thought it was a conflict but it was just pure respect for each other. I've also noticed Muslim students participating in morning prayer, while hindu students learning "Bismillah" (A mantra that muslims recite before eating) 💕

#myschoolmemory i used to go morning tuition at 6 then directly from there to school. I never kept lunchbox because *badi class k bache khana kaha lejate hn *😅 and never had breakfast in home those day due to *subhe 6 bje kise hi bhuk lagti h?*😂
But after reaching school at 07:30, i use to get appetite.
My friend muskan (now married and busy in her left so is not in touch) use to bring tiffin daily for my morning breakfast.

    I m a Bangladeshi Hindu.
I am still in school and I remember when I was in 3-9 many Muslim classmates and teachers tried their best to convert me. And thanks to my parents I knew my religion.
So whenever they give me fake information about my religion that my religion is bad and I give them the real information they just get angry with and told me I know nothing about my religion.
Yes he knows better from Zakir Nayak😂😂. But really my teacher used to show me videos of Zakir Nayak by skipping the class. 😂.
But that was good in my time that I didn't get slapped for that😅.
And I don't think can ever forget that part of my life. So please keep the kids out of this. Because school life is not for this.
