This watch was one of my grail watches. I managed to find a NoS example back in 21.
The bracelet was a little tight on my wrist so I swapped the original folding clasp for a generic one off ebay which was about 5mm longer.
I must say the watch also looks great on a black Geckota Handmade Premium Italian Leather strap. Because of the design of the watch there is no unsightly gap between the strap and the case.
The Geckota rally straps are fantastic straps as well.
Put me in the ‘love it, but not the price’ camp.
Seems like every watch I want is like that these days...
I wish Seiko would stop using the Prospex logo on everything, actually.

Nothing wrong with it, it’s actually a clever design, and it separates their tool watches from the others.
@@e28forever30 Many models just look better without it. Especially the Alpinist models where it really looks out of place.

I wouldn't buy any seiko over 400dls with that horrible x on the dial it just makes the watch look cheap
They can put that logo on the back case. I can live with it there but not on the dial

Looks amazing, love the size and details. But I've had terrible experiences with 6R movements, which cannot be judged out of the box. Still this would be tempting if not for the price. Great video, love the channel.
On the spot. Seiko keeps raising the prices for 6R watches without making any QC improvements.

For that price I think it should have included the 6R64 (the true GMT version of the 6R54).
I'd buy it if it did. Without that functionality it's pretty overpriced.

I agree, but it's already too expensive. As Russell points out, this would jack the price up further. It looks great but... I will keep holding out for a Miyota 9075 powered microbrand to screatch true GMT itch! Haven't quute found the right combination of price and availability with a date complication.

I have to admit, I really do like this watch.
The retro design with the brushed articulated bracelet and that grey dial, Seiko really have hit it out of the park with this one.

What a beauty! Gives me a Doxa vibe. But you are right - price is the issue (for me). If I was a Seiko fanatic I would be all over this. And the limited edition makes the price a little less dear ... Sigh ... I will have to stare at it a bit longer. 😊. Thanks for the quick show on this one. You got this out during the pre-order phase.
Great review and lovely looking watch👍. As you have already said the price maybe be an issue for many me included. It does make me wonder that if Seiko does reissue the Pogue, what price point will they place that at? This or a more reasonable price range like the SRPK17K1? I fear the former 🙄.

Another mega show MWC! This is a really well done reissue from Seiko but I think that price is a bit too high for anyone but the most die hard Seiko enthusiasts to consider. I think the Alpinist GMT still sits atop the pile of Seiko releases in 2023 but this is a very nice reissue for sure!

Afternoon Russell, I am so amazed you are reviewing this watch. I have been looking at a Black Bay Pro or something very similar, all stainless inc bezel. So I've been looking at alternives Googling away and this came up and I just loved it. It has everything that historical nod, great strap, dims are good and the case shape and dial colour are fabulous. So I am pleased you’ve handled it and positively reviewed it. That friction only bezel I wouldn't have known that, do you think it will move about with general wear? I think youve just cost me 1500 quid.

Beautiful dial! Not too sure about the 19mm bracelet, what were they thinking? And that tiny crown? Beyond that, it a beauty! I just got a Bruce Lee limited to 15000 lol hardley limited. Great vid my friend!

I was sooo close, I was guessing $1,700.00 with the exchange rate I was close. That bracelet and the face dial, just perfect.
Seiko are pricing themselves right out of their traditional market.
A good $1000 watch and under is exactly where they should be, in my opinion. Grand Seiko should not be compromised by their basic models even if it carries an X.
Agreed. Loved everything about this until he got to the price. I love Seiko but there are a lot of other watches I'd be picking up for 1500 before this.
Their watches are too good for those old price ranges… it should be considered an entry level luxury brand in my opinion

That's a nice watch. The color and sunburst effect on the watch are next level awesome. The price? Meh. I won't get it. But I fully support any Seiko fan who does. I don't think they'll regret it.

I wish they would’ve followed what they did with the SSK and put 24 markers on the inside as well. But they were probably sticking to the original design.

This one is a fantastic watch! I have a King Samurai Shu-Iro, and the only thing that I don't like about it is the Prospex "X" on the dial. This dial is just perfect. Unfortunately I think I won't get a green light from my wife. I bought a lots of watches in this year from the moonwatch to the Casio A-53W 😂😅🙈

MWC, great watch and review. I just think you missed the section house of pagani, because the caseback is completely a throe back to the quintessential ones from back in the 60's and early 70's. Shame that it's so high priced.

My 1969 Omega Seamaster 120 has a 19mm strap. I became rather adept at trimming 20mm straps to fit with a razor blade. 20mm NATO straps would often be fine without modification.

If this is £1500, how much is the Pogue reissue going to be?!
It all depends on the movement. If they go with a mecha quartz probably around that 1000 dollar mark give or take a few hundred. If the they go with an auto your looking at 2000 plus. This is assuming it's not a limited edition.
I think a Pogue will be about £800.
@@bassplayer2011ifyThe Pogue should be an automatic movement like the original. If not they can keep it. Most that want a Pogue reissue want a faithful recreation. Not a half ass one. The Pogue is such an important piece of Seiko history. So it should get the treatment it deserves

I also love it, but before you even revealed the price, as soon as you said 'limited and 6R', I said, "well its going to be at least $1,200" Which at least for me I just cannot reconcile for this. I love it, but just not $1,500 worth of love. All Seikos end up on the secondary market after a bit so I think I will wait for that.
I quite like it. It's definitely a nice watch, though for some reason it looks a little large on you. It could just be the style though (Prospex, etc). I'm not a Seiko fan and these are going for $2500 AUD (I'm in Australia) and I would never pay that much for a Seiko. I'm not sure about the 6R movement either...seems to be a lot of complaints about it. Anyway, the price is Longines territory and I'm looking for a new Hydroconquest. :)

The price is absurd when you can get a lightly used Grand Seiko SBGN003 that pays its own respect to the Navigator Timer for not much more.
