When Jon and Vangelis got together to make music, The sun shone, clouds parted, celestial gates magically opened and A little bit of heavens magic dust was sprinkled upon all of us .
I’m one of only a handful of people to see and hear Jon sing the “sound like a signal from You” at Tait Towers in Lititz Pa. in 1989 July during the ABWH rehearsals. Rick Wakeman provided simple C major root chording with a choral/string patch; my wife and I almost passed out!! lol… just amazing and SUPER RARE. I am blessed not only to have witnessed this along with the several talks Jon and I had over a 5 day period, but also to have had my wife and one year old daughter with me. So many memories; gives me tears as I type. God bless Jon Anderson; “just another” one of Gods messengers 🙏
Jon Anderson is YES. Wherever he is, wherever he sings, he is YES. Others may bear the name Yes, but we all know it is Jon Anderson that is the embodiment of YES.
Jon Anderson has blessed us so many years ,no one can sing like this man . some have tried but never will there ever be a voice like Jon Anderson .I am thankful for 40 plus years of his music..
I visited Accrington a few years ago, with my fellow groundhopping mates to watch Stanley play Luton. The only two things I knew about the town was the football team + Jon A. :) We spent a nice afternoon there, a lot of it in The Crown.
Very sad to hear the death of Evangelos (Vangelis). Bought ‘Friends of Mr Cairo’ LP vinyl when I was 14 in 1981 when it came out and it’s been with me like a good friend ever since. One of my desert island records.
While this version is wonder, There was no other uplifting and positive experience in the world than hearing this the first time under the stars of the universe in the high desert. Jon and Vangelis original version is and shall always remain the finest and emotionally fulfilling the body, mind and spirit. RIP Vangelis, it was wonderful meeting you🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'm a very long time Yes fan, and I've all heard all of the whining about different band members over time, but I think Jon should re-record all of the Yes songs with this ensemble. They are tremendous; I thought only a few songs brought me to tears ( And you and I, Turn of the century, et al, but this is truly magnificent. He is, and always will be, Yes, though I miss Squire's voice and bass
this is played at the end of "single white female " (1991), sang by donna summers.....lt's amazing. it's a mix of jazz, gospel, r&b and little bit more, it's my power walking music!
I just saw Jon perform this song ( amongst many others ), with the kids from the Paul Green Academy. ( 8/7/21 ). First - Jon was awesome as usual. Second - It is so nice to see these teens playing these very difficult YES Songs So Well !! I’m still thinking about it 4 days later . It was a rare treat and I feel blessed to of been there .
I live in the United States. When I can't stand anymore the hatred and hypocrisy of the American culture, I take refuge in the good English performers, such as Jon Anderson. It gives me peace of mind.
@@johnscoone9310 I just did. Nice! I kind of wish Neil Diamond had done it, too. And I can only imagine what Dimash (world's best singer, in the opinion of many) could do with it after listening to him do, "Stranger." The highs and lows he could create in this song would be mind boggling.
