What can I say......I'm 57 years old and these guys were my heroes growing up....especially Mr. Soul. I bought my first single 'Don't Give Up On Us Baby' back in 1976 and 'Silver Lady' in 1977. Both worldwide hits! In the late 90's I got to see him at a very small concert in Northampton. It was a great night and after David was signing autographs. I remember I said I was a big fan and he said ''well introduce yourself'' which I did and then I showed him my records that I'd bought back in the day. He was taken back that I'd kept them so long and that they were the first two records that I'd ever bought. He was so kind and signed them both. May you Rest In Peace David Soul you still are one of my heroes. God bless you.
Exactly the same age as you. Used to watch S&H when I was around 9 or 10. Always wanted to be like Starsky, though. Funny, hunky, fun and a crack shot. You have a great story. Lovely you met David Solberg. What a great guy gave everything for this moment in history. Bless him. May he rest in peace
When this show was on the air in the 70s. My father went to the Ford dealership in Knoxville Tennessee where I was born. The dealership called Ted Russell Ford on Kingston Pike is still there to this very day. My father bought my mother a brand new Gran Torino like starskys car. Only her car was solid white with a black vinyl top. Everything else was almost identical. My father was a fan of the show just like my brother and I. My father passed away in 1998. I am currently watching the show again on DVD. So. Here is my Starsky and Hutch story. I am proud to say that when it came time for me to take my driver's test at the Tennessee highway patrol office in town we used my mom's car her brand new Gran Torino. My mom spent 2 weeks training me to drive in her car. Everyday when she got off work we would drive to Chilhowee Park on Linden Avenue and I would drive around the fair rides and the lake at the park. When the day finally came for me to take my driver's test I remember it like it was yesterday. My mom waited inside the Tennessee Highway Patrol office waiting room testing center while I sat outside in the parking lot waiting for that state trooper to come out and get into the car so I can take my test. The state trooper was a short woman. About 5 feet 2 inches. She walked up to the passenger side of car and got in. I was scared to death. She told me to start the car pull out onto the street and turn right and go to the stop sign. Then she said turn right at the next stop sign one block later she said turn right again. Finally. After about 5 right turns. She said after going around the block, turn right for the final time back into the parking lot of the Tennessee highway patrol office testing station. She told me she said turn off the car so I did. She got her little clipboard and wrote a little message on it and handed me the paper and said you passed good luck. In other words my driver's test in 1976-77 was a drive around the block. Back in those days you went to the Tennessee Highway Patrol police station to take your driver's test. There were no driving schools. Your parents taught you how to drive back then. But that's not the end of the story. When we got home I went back into my room and started playing video games on my old Atari. My mom called me into the kitchen and told me I need something from the grocery store 3 miles away on Magnolia Avenue. The grocery store back then was named. Cass Walkers grocery store. She had a humble smile look on her face and she handed me the keys to her brand new Gran Torino. She looked at me and said I trust you son you got to learn sometime. Here's a grocery list be careful I'll see you when you get back. This was my very first solo drive in automobile. By the way. I was only 15 years old. You young people of today have to understand something. Back in those days you could get your driver's license permit at 15 years old which lasted for one year. When you turn 16 years old. Go back to the Tennessee highway patrol office they will issue you your official Tennessee driver's license and 16 years old. Yes you heard me right. At 16 years old my friends and I were driving cars. Our parent's car around town. That was the norm. Most of the times we on our skateboards and bicycles around town too. We all had drivers license at 16 years old. Anyway. I get into mom's brand new Gran Torino like Starskys car and I'm terrified. I back down the driveway of our home and onto the street and down to the grocery store 3 miles away. I picked up the food at the grocery store. Back in my mom's brand new car pulled out onto the busy Magnolia Boulevard and drove all the way back home and up the driveway and parked in the garage. I handed the groceries and my mom's keys back to her. She had a big smile on her face. Obviously because I came back in one piece with the car still new. Its now 2020. My mom is now retired. She is 74 years old. I am 54 years old now. I called my mom the other day to see how she was doing. I asked her if she remember that day back in the seventies when I first drove her brand new Gran Torino. She said yes I do son. I told her I said Mom I want to thank you putting your trust me with your brand new car all those years ago. She basically told me you're welcome son but you don't have to thank me you're my son and I love you and trust is always a prerequisite when it comes to a mother and her children. Thanks Zebra 3.
Oh man this brought back great memories!!! My drivers test was exactly like yours!!! I was scared to death!!! Mine was in a 70 Ford Maverick!!! Around the block and back to Highway Patrol Office!!! This show was the high light of my week then!! Thanks for bringing up the great memories!!!
Nice to see these Guys again, brings back memories of the show. Kind of sad to see David Soul on Crutches. Best wishes to both you Guys, one of the best tv shows ever.
Yeah , David's not lookin' so good lately, I wonder what's wrong with him. I love those guys like my brothers or my uncles, they are so cool. The best cop duo in TV history.
Still love the look of that red Torino even after all these years. When you compare it to all the bland computer designed cars on the streets around it, you notice just have good looking these old cars were.

Coolest car ever. Damn those movie cars were sick. "Movie" Mike and his crew did a fantastic job on them. They used viper red instead of the old 2B stock ford red. Really pops. That white stripe was a stroke of genius by whoever originally designed it for the show.
Too bad that I happened to be out of Louisiana at that precise time... Left New Orleans in 2017 returned a year later, 2 months after this video was made... Just my luck :/

It is so sad seeing how badly knackered Paul and David are. The stars of Starsky and Hutch should be immortal.

Not sure I'd let Glaser drive the car, he hated it and that's why you see it crashing into everything in the show, he wanted to kill it, so they get another car, he thought it was rediculous that 2 undercover cops would drive a Red Tomato ; )
Where is this video filmed? Looks like somewhere in the south with all the oak trees & moss. Just curious.
❤
THE CAR LOOKS GREAT. They...oh my God!!!
Paul Michael Glaser looks pretty good David so let's not too good hate to see people age that's why I thought I'd just stopped aging at 33
He drank a lot.
