I made a gunner farm at Starlight Drive which was great. After leveling and developing other settlements, I scrapped the farm and made a pretty nice settlement out of Starlight. Now it is constantly attacked by gunners, lol.
I built a 4 floor structure on spectacle island. 20 cages each floor. It's fully closed. So no gunner can't escape. There's a bed, chemistry stuff near it for well rested buff and savant trigger. I'm using unyielding set, so 15 int on gears, 10 from skill tree, bobblehead, chems... 30+ int. I'm 300 level but still getting a level with one run. I also build one structure on nuka cola settlement(60 cages), one on abernathy farm(30 cages) and the others. One map run gives me 4-5 level and shitload of armor, ammo, gun, caps and chems.
After seeing this I decided to set up a similar scene. The first run was quite fun with 12 cages and a wood observation tower. When the cages were opened the gunners, raiders, ghouls, and one super mutant all attacked each other in an amazing melee so I just watched and didn't take any action until only one faction was left standing, the gunners. In my second version I reduced the number of gunners but my location was being attacked before I returned which damaged the electrical and opened the big door. So for my third attempt I made things bigger, added a better mix of cages including a radscorpion. Also built a secure concrete tower for the generator and switches to control everything. Plus across way across from the warehouse door I added a surprise for the uninvited attackers. An array of electric powered lasers, heavy lasers, and some missile launchers which are powered down. My concrete tower is raised on pylons with windows on each side. There are no stairs or entrance from ground level so each time I had to create some stairs, put them in place, exit build mode to open the door to the secure room. Too many steps in the middle of action so instead I'll see if I can put my fast travel target inside the tower. So when the arena was full and the location came under attack buy a dozen or more that is when I powered up the automatic defenses and it was wonderful. After the attackers were eliminated with no damage to my secure tower, I opened the cages and watched the fun. Once I expand the arena and get it all setup I'll capture the events on video and post them. The gunners work well together so I need enough other factions to balance the results. I had set up another cage arena at a settlement but that caused that settlement to be attacked too much and I didn't want to spend time running to defend them. I enjoy the game, but not playing to win since I want to collect more junk, build more stuff, shoot more bad guys and an occasional good guy too.

Best way to do this is making it more square rather than a long tunnel and setting up a pitching machine in the middle you can turn on remotely with artillery smoke grenades. So I don't have a "cages" option in my build list. Are these structures part of a dlc?
Yes. GOTY with all DLC is only like $12
Why does dropping and storing weapons reduce the settlement size?
I have no idea. But bethesda never change it, so I guess that's the way it is.
I think it would help if you place turrets or Something
The kill from turrets doesn't give us EXP unfortunately
i recommend to check my death factory i built a while ago you might like it
for some reason mine are glitched when i repair them it doesnt use caps
It's usually bugged so it only uses 5 instead of the 50, so it might be even more glitched at your farm, sounds very possible
I kinda killed the entire town of good neighbor because of reasons i forgot
are the gunner cages a mod? i cannot seem to find them in my inventory of buildable structures
You need the wasteland contraption dlc
@@thegivingtree6551 ya i got it, didnt know i had to
have that
How long is waiting a week in game is my question
It change something on the XP farm if instead of gunners, the cage are of other creatures?
It will change your loot and exp.
Yes it works. But take everything weapons / armor / item's.... the only problem is if you want gun that fire's mine nukes buy a PC only mod... but xp / exp works Xbox /.ps
Try death claws if you are brave enough...
You wonderful mad man.
if u dont give a fuq bout achivements,.. do ya sefle a favour and just install a standard "no cap limit" mod ...
that glitch with the weapons is a pain in the ass
but yo .. great video ! thx for the farm build
How do you get the gunner cage i cant find it
You need the waste land workshop pass
It's 5 $
And it's worth it trust me
Maybe you could pile up some bloatfly lava syringe ammo, it may give you some slim chance of farming few legendary items
