    In this episode of BurnDown I put the short block portion of my new motor together. We have some nice stuff this time around thanks to some help from friends. I really dont know what im doing so if you see something that can be improved let me know in the comments section. Hopefully we get a season of abuse out of this guy so we will see I guess. Wish me luck guys.

    It was brought to my attention that I may have installed some of the rods incorrectly in this video and sure enough I did. So if you build a bottom end make sure the large chamfer is towards the crank fillet and the flat edge or small chamfer is towards the other rod. I fixed it before I damaged anything by trying to run it this way!! Big shout out to Drifter Engines for the catch!!

    You actually helped me identify my 6.2 block that is still in a Yukon. I was able to see where the ID tags were on yours. the 6.2 does not have the normal 6.2 stamped behind the alternator bracket or in the front at all. ..Thx

    Before you start tapping youre piston in tap lightly around the top of the compressor and every few knocks on the piston tap around the compressor some more and if a ring is trying to ooze out it will suck the ring right back in. You did great bro

    • @Burndown
      @Burndown  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that I have had to do it a few times I see how that would help. Thank you for the tip! I need to get a ring compressor that is the size of the pistons to make life easy.

Now that I have done one its not so bad but if I was to do it right I would have checked all the clearances and end play. Im sure they have other steps I skipped as well but we will see if it works out for me. Thanks for watching man!

    What are the hp ratings on these pistons and pins?
    I only ask because I had a buddy do an LS and he ran the stock crank but went with gold star rods and weisco pistons and pins he ended up ripping the pins out of the pistons called weisco and they said they we only good for 750 which is odd because stock ls can hold that and more ..
    He made 1000 rear wheel on the dyno
    Took it to the track made it 2 runs 💥 💥
    I know you and your buddy’s are making some good power figured I’d share that one with ya maybe ask the dealer what the limit is on the pistons and pins

      It says designed to handle up to 1200hp and 8500rpm in drag race applications. My valves and lifters are not up to that RPM and my turbo will probably run out before I see that kind of power level. If we make it through RMRW ill throw it on the dyno and swing for the fences to see what we can do but till then I dont need to make all the power. I need to put whatever the car makes on a conservative tune down to the track and then work on all the boost.
