    It's not acceptable to not send the referee to the screen because he's your mate and has had a hard game. That's part of the process and a basic requirement of the job so he was clearly not suitable to be a VAR ref. Football should take a lesson from rugby where you hear the dialogue between the onfield ref and the VAR ref and you ultimately get better decisions

    I think for Mike Dean with this one interview has harmed referees in English football more than any incorrect VAR call has. We now know that referees are making personal decisions based on loyalty to their friends to not go over and use the technology that was brought in to make them make decisions easier.
    If they have this kind of bias, who's to say they don't have a bias in team they want to win a particular game. Its nothing short of a disgrace. Mic up the referees, mic up the VAR assistants and let us hear the decision making process throughout the 90 min game as and when they are making them. I refuse to trust or accept any more wrong decisions from these people unless thats the case

    • @90jimmychoo
      @90jimmychoo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marshjj3788 football is no different with VAR. VAR highlights the fact that the PGMOL as a group/organisation take it upon themselves to make decision based on personal bias to influence games.
      Without VAR we wouldn’t have a ref in the clip above admitting to deliberately influencing a game and not following the protocols and rules he is trained to. These refs manage games that can be worth 100s of millions to the clubs involved. They need to be assessed, moderated and if they are not fit for purpose sacked. Put a microphone and a camera in the VAR room and a mic on the on pitch ref so everyone has total transparency on what they are doing as they do it. There’s no reason for that not to happen other than to allow them to continue as they have been.

    Mike Dean was a terrible referee. As for his view that he always had the balls to make the right decision, whether it was in the 1st 5 minutes or the last 5 minutes.
    Well he failed at St James' Park in 2011 when he did not send off David Luiz in the 5th minute,when he brought down Denba Ba who was through on goal. Furthermore he defended his decision. He definitely bottled that.
    Every game he officiated in was about him.

    I was a referee for about 6/7 years. It is fun but I was an amateur referee so I didn’t have linesman. Offsides are completely impossible to see at times. Every time where someone is through on goal and it’s anywhere near close to offside, one team is going to hate you and not forgive you for the rest of the game. Being a referee with linesman is an easy job if you like football and have common sense. It’s not as difficult as it’s made out to be. Being a linesman is tough though.

But amateur refs have a few drunk onlookers that could easily start wanting to throw punches at you when you aren’t able to identify a team provided linesman that’s blatantly cheating. @@jplb96 that’s what I mean though. Mistakes are too common. They’re easy to avoid. Knowing that people are going to talk about a decision doesn’t make it more difficult to give. Question for you. What is the definition of “passing the ball” ? Because the final video image of the players positions is only the end of a process that begins with “the pass”. What measurement of that is there ? It’s like a 100 metre athletic race. The runnners can start when they like but the winner is the first across the line. The timing of the pass is ignored and only the final positions of the players is highlighted. Officials at the game very often see and hear the contact on the ball. What measurement is used for VAR ?

    On Mourinho: the decisions against Roma in the final were absolutely baffling. The behaviour of Romans after the final may not have been good, but considering the team were treated wrongly over and over again during the season. The final of the Europa league was the cherry on top. A handball at 1-1 around the 80th minute not given. Speaking about Mourinho’s gameplan saying he messed it up conceding a 1-1 is not what refs should speak about. They need to step up in certain moments to make the game fair. That’s what we need, because as Mister Dean says himself, Mourinho shakes everybody’s hands after any game he had with him. Just do your job and all is well

And he admitted he couldn't do the job because he essentially couldn't control his emotions, so he's agreeing with people calling him out. BUT, the gravity of the situation is undoubtedly enormous and the set up regarding how refs are trained is clearly not good enough when something like this can happen.

    The players all have a go at refs when they make mistakes (in their opinion) but tend to ignore the fact that a game is 90 minutes long and the players make zillions of mistakes during that time. Perhaps it is now time for the refs to tell the players what they think of them. "That was a crap pass", "My 90-year old granny could shoot better than that". Dean was a crap referee and now he has admitted to being a biased one. What a piece of work.

    On reflection, Mike Dean has owned up to a poor var call and told it as it was. Would people prefer to live in ignorance debating that missed decisions were just poor eyesight? Now that it's out in the open, we all know better and should add the right pressure on var officials to make a decision. Simon got Mike Dean to finally reveal what most people thought anyway so was a good interview.

    I think a ref being interviewed could be detrimental to the refs, as it’s not a bad thing hearing the answer but it is dependant on how you can manage how the question is framed, if you got a cheeky report and they are clever in how they frame the question it could lead the ref into a bad answer, therefore do you need to train the ref how to be press savvy?
    Now if you are not press savvy would that mark you down as a top reff ?

    • @GaryFreeman-o5w
      @GaryFreeman-o5w ปีที่แล้ว

      It's simple. The referee makes mistakes, but he's never wrong!! Even with all the technology, errors of judgement occur but the only opinion that ever matters is that of the referee. Players playing a bad pass, missing an easy goal, miss-controling the ball, and straying offside too often are all mistakes that players make but, often, their teammates don'ty vilify the player but often encourage them with better luck next time. Who'd be a ref? I am and I love it and without us there would not be any football.
