Thanks for posting Chromeboy! We were there, man! What a band - from a bouncing Morse to a pummelling Portnoy - and Casey's vocals were a nice surprise. You got to love MP - what an entertainer. Did you dig Casey's Hallelujah? At first I thought 'Oh Jesus no!' but he really did make it his own and I loved it. Also I thought 'June' was a highlight - terrific harmonies. These guys are great!! Keep posting fella! Thanks again! Jason

One of the greatest 'super groups' ever, imho.

Sounds to me like Steve Morse is doing some improvisation near the end of the Storm (from about 4.30), very beautiful love it. I was at the show in Holland the day before London (the show that was filmed for DVD), totally awersome.

Yup. A well written tune that goes several places, not just complex for the sake of complex. I've seen LaRue several times and he always brings it. Saw he and Steve Morse live and they played one of my all-time favorites, the duet "Foreign Exchange" from Morse's "Structural Damage":

Never had a chance to see Neal live but I've been into Spock's Beard since "The Light" and knew he had the chops for good prog. You're right, he's on it here on this tune. Rock on!

The solo in The Storm really sounds very similar to melodic Petrucci solos. Really shows me how much influence SM had on Pet...love it.

Arguably the Dregs' most progressive tune. First time I saw them live was when "What If" came out. Small club, maybe 200 people there tops. Everyone's digging their groove-based tunes, then somewhere in the set they play this. The sound of the applause/cheering afterwards was intense but it also had this "I'm fucking spent" quality to it... ;)

just look at Neal Morse sightreading, nodding his head, and interacting with Mike Portnoy starting at 6:53. that's what music should be all about.

I have to say Portnoy sounds good here :-) But especially the Morse's and LaRue really shine - the singer's phenomenal as well. They can pull 'some stuff' from back catalogs as well...

Well, I just thought it sounded different than on the album... In any case, Steve Morse is just fantastic!!!

Doesn't matter, as long as you agree that Steve is an awesome guitarist LOL

I don't know how Steve Morse keeps from smashing all the other strings with his picking hand when he alternate picks quick runs. Looks so painful from an observer's POV, but I suppose you could say that about a lot of really good players.

Great debut, Don't like the song "Shoulda coulda woulda" but I like the rest of the album. SCW is just too bland and boring, it would have been a perfect velvet revolver song, it was dwarfed by some amazing progressive pop/rock songs.

sounds to you? thats not improvissed at all!
