Geoff Casteolucci (Ursula) has a 5 octave range in his voice, to reach the highs and most notably, the low bass he's most known for.

Yes! So stoked that you're delving into Voiceplay! I love how they throw themselves into costuming and props for their videos. Geoff Castellucci is one of my favorite bass voices. A couple suggestions to add to your explorations: Oogie Boogie's Song, Moana Medley, (Voiceplay), Sixteen Tons, and Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (Geoff Castellucci).

Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole.
Check out their new minis. They make some crazy sounds. For theatrics my suggestions would be covers from Nightmare Before Christmas - Oogie Boogie Song, This is Halloween and Kidnapp Santa Claws, Queen in 5 Minutes, Panic at the Disco, Moana Medley, My Mother Told Me, and Warriors (one of my favs).
Then there are their covers of Carry on My Wayward Son, Tennessee Whiskey, If I Were A Rich Man/Girl, Kiss, Daddy Sang Bass. But like the other groups you can't go wrong with any pick.
Also, the bass, Geoff Castellucci, has his own YT page. From it for a good start would be High & Dry, Blackbird, 16 Tons and Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold.
    Enjoy the ride of VoicePlay.

    J. None (Sebastian) and Layne (beatboxer/chef) don't have accents, they just really get into character and they do it so well. Also Rachel Potter is not an official member, tho she's been featured in a lot of their songs. Right now they are lacking a member so they feature different people to fill that role.
You have to check out their covers of the Oogie Boogie Song, This is Halloween, Queen in 5 minutes, Bang!, Butter, We're Good, If I were a rich man/girl, the Phantom of the Opera, Boy Bands in 5 minutes, Carry On Wayward Son, the Moana medley, the Frozen 2 medley and My Mother Told Me.

I'm a huge VP fan - they are absolutely meticulous, and do pretty much everything themselves. As Layne (beatbox and baritone) said in his interview with Charismatic Voice (paraphrased), 'it's a lot of work but when you finish you have a piece of art. That's why we keep doing it.' Layne and Geoff (bass) each do roughly half of the arranging. The person who arranges usually also does the video. Eli (tenor, pronounce el-ee) gets involved in lighting, design, backdrops and editing - and occasionally arranging (check out his VP arrangement of Eleanor Rigby, it's brilliant.) They're respectful of the originals, but the arrangements just SHINE and transform the song into something fresh. Their most recent drop, a cover of the Fiddler on the Roof classic, "If I Were a Rich Man" is a perfect example. It's completely updated and yet the heart and soul remain. I've listened to it dozens of times, it's just crazy-good. (yes, I liked /subscribed, and am hoping you do more VP)

Rachel is not part of VoicePlay, though they asked her more than once to join them. She lives on the west coast and they are FL based. She is also a new mother. J. None (Sebastian) has no accent and recently joined the US Navy and has been replaced by Cesar de la Rosa. The most recent female singer VoicePlay 'auditioned' is a friend of Cesar's, Ashley Diane. She seemed to fit well with the group and has a great voice. The If I was a Rich Man was GREAT and very creatively arranged by Layne Stein, their beatboxer.
Geoff, the bass, also does solo recordings on his own channel ( not a capella) where he harmonizes with himself. Check out 16 Tons, Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, The Headless Horseman.

Huge Fan of the VoicePlay rabbit hole. Love the fact that they go all-in with a musical theatre vibe. With all the make-up and costumes and character voices. Geoff Castellucci is the bass playing Ursula with a range like Tim Foust but is smooth like butter. Geoff also has his own channel that he does covers. His newest is Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold low bass cover.

Well Rachel is a genuine Disney princess who knows VoicePlay with almost all members over the years have worked/sung for the Orlando theme parks. No one has an accent but all can create one as needed. Geoff is the bass, Layne the beatboxer, Eli they seagull/yellow shirt/Flotsom is tenor 1, aka Rock God, J None is the crustacean/Jetsom and baritone. I suspect you may be a bit behind so: Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), Valhalla Calling (Miracle of Sound), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), a post-apocalyptic trilogy over 3 yrs - Warriors (Imagine Dragons) - Dream On (Aerosmith) - Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Drunken Sailor, Wicked (Broadway), Greatest Showman (movie), In the Hall of the Mountain King (Edvard Grieg 1875), We Don't Talk About Bruno (Encanto), Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame), I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), If I Were a Rich Man/Girl (Fiddler on the Roof).

  • @christinestromberg4057

As far as voices ae concerned the three main acapella groups are PTX, Home Free, and VoicePlay. Where they differ for me, is that PTX are treaditional , Home Free more country and religious, where VoicePlay concentrate on the Play part, the dramatic interpretation of some songs. They are brilliant when just singing, and a lot of fun when playing around with the videos. I can't comment on the film never having seen it but J,None doesn't normally have that accent. The bass is Geoff Castellucci (Mr Shock and Awe) who has his own channel, covering songs in a low bass style. Vocal percussion is Layne Stein. Eli (pronounced elly) is the tenor, naster of runs and riffs. Boy Bands in 5 Minutes is fun. Sh-Boom, Mr Blue Sky, and so many more. From Geoff, Country Roads, Blackbird, Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, will give you a good idea of his range.

Moana Medley from VoicePlay please. 🤗🤗🤗
Laine is one of the underrated beatboxers out there, mainly because Adam and Kevin are the bests. Laine is also outstanding. Rachel Potter is featured in many of their covers.
The other a capella group in the top 4 (IMHO) is Voctave, an 11 member group out of Orlando, Florida. They are well known for their Disney covers, as to be expected...all of it's members were or are currently employed by Disney as Voices of Liberty. While they don't utilize a beatboxer they are fantastic. I especially like their Disney Princess Medley, Disney Love Medley (featuring Kirstin of Pentatonix), Oh, Holy Night, and O Come, All Ye Faithful.

I am first, last and always a Pentaholic but Voiceplay has been creeping up on me this last year or so to a very close second. Luckily for me my philosophy is not to have to choose and just happily take both. Or more if you include Home Free (it took me a minute to warm up to them coz I'm not a fan of country) and Voctave. And there is a warm place in my heart for old school Take Six for a little toe-tapping and finger-popping but then I've always been a jazz fan so it figures. They're all different, they're all great and they're all a cappella. It's a tasty, spicy brew. Just stir the pot (or cup) and take a taste. But for Voiceplay I'm stuck at the moment on their "If I Was a Rich Man/Girl". Very Cool.

Neither J. None (Sebastien) nor Layne (vocal percussion madness/French chef) have accents. One of the things VoicePlay is capable of doing *extremely* well is character voices, something I see very few other a cappella bands doing. Check out their Nightmare Before Christmas videos- particularly This is Halloween and Kidnap the Sandy Claws- to see examples of this (and also some truly fantastic costuming and video work). Not all of their videos are quite as theatrical as these are, but most of the guys do have backgrounds working at Disney, so they have fun and get very creative. They do all of the video stuff themselves- either Geoff (pronounced Jeff, the tenor-bass monster) or Layne do most of their arrangements, and whoever arranged the piece generally does the video. Eli (pronounced Elly, he's the bald tenor beast with glasses) does much of their lighting, and is starting to arrange as well. At this time, J. None- the butter-smooth baritone with mad riffs and endless energy- has sadly left the group to join the Navy (possibly, hopefully, coming back after his service), but they have a new addition- Cesar De La Rosa, and he is a delight as well. Rachel Potter is a frequent collaborator with VoicePlay, having done quite a number of songs with them, but she's not a permanent member. She's another incredible vocalist, and a lot of people are sad that she never accepted VoicePlay's offer to join them. (But that's okay, she's semi-retired and raising a family, so who can blame her?) I'd recommend particular videos, but honestly you're going to find something impressive about pretty much every one, so whatever you choose to look at next will be something you will likely enjoy.

      @samuelmncedisi1065 3 ปีที่แล้ว

You're being polite in saying that " ..something I see very few other a cappella bands doing... '' concerning character voice singing, when they're the only ones who do it (within the sphere of groups like Voctave, Home Free, PTX) frequently. The other groups add humor to the videos, but there's no real voice acting/character singing.
