Wasted numerous opportunities to push the lead & win comfortably. For some reason w/e the defense actually gets a couple consecutive stops, the offense stalls. Rarely play well at the same time.
@Keith Carey Hahaha. Please. I'll give OSU credit for staying with us, but if you really think OSU had numerous chances to build a "huge" lead you are kidding yourself. The very few times our coaches decided to send pressure it caused Corndog to be extremely inaccurate. If you want to talk about missed opportunities, we should talk about the no call on the blatant facemask that the officials missed that ended up killing a drive close to the redzone. Or, the nonsense no-calls for holding (those were bad, but that happens in every game, the no call on the facemask on Sermon was ridiculous...and they missed another on Brown earlier). OSU played well on offense, but to say they had any chance of taking a huge lead is just asinine.
@Keith Carey OU was up 24-21 & wasted at least 3 chances to build that up to a 35, 38, or 42-21 lead. When they finally got to 34, they turned around & let OSU score right before half to cut it to 34-28. Maybe actually watch the game.
My take on the Sooner defense and changes that likely need to be made at the end of the season. Lincoln Riley is a smart person and will likely understand changes are needed on the defensive side of the ball, but my suggestion would be an overhaul, rather than a small repair be implemented. The current defense is just not good, they can't stop anyone, the red zone defense is last or nearly last in the [nation], not the B12, the entire country! The defense line is continually pushed around, especially in the red zone. Third down stops are non-existent, even on third and long they fail to make the needed physical plays to get off the field. We continually see missed tackles, failures to wrap up and tackle...this is a mental toughness issue, combined with poor position and technique, which clearly points at the coaches failing to instill physicality and proper training to the defense teams. Size and athleticism is also a problem, especially on the D-line and secondary players. Length and strength are needed ASAP! Clearly, the approach of fast and small has not worked, a near-blind person can see this, much like the three-man front, which was on display again in this game where we watched a QB sit back for nearly 12 seconds and finally throw a TD pass to a receiver in the end zone...No more three-man fronts unless its 3rd and 25 or more! *The D-Line:* The D-line ends are good, a bit undersized, as are the corners and safeties. The athleticism on the tackles is pathetically missing, anyone can see the glaring problem with OU's tackles lack of athletic talent, and their complete absence of technique, thus the reason they can't get to the opposing quarterback. The D-line has consistently been pushed around, and has yet to make a critical goal-line stop...this is either a recruiting issue (Poor talent, not athletic players) or its a coaching issue (Not able to teach or motivate the players). Either way, a change is needed at the D-Line coaching position, this is painfully obvious to anyone, and it has to be the highest priority for a new D-coordinator. *Linebackers:* A new D-coordinator will likely need to change this coaching position because its the heart of a defense...The middle linebacker needs to play smart, aggressive football, and be able to position the defense correctly while anticipating the opposing offensive play...it shouldn't be purely an athletic person, something Mike Stoops seemed to gravitate towards was athleticism over football intelligence, both are needed but there is no substitute for a smart middle linebacker. *D-Backs (Safeties and corners):* It's so bad that nearly no one would argue that an immediate (end of the 2018 season) change is needed at this position. The play is merely average at best and terrible on far too many games. Length and strength, combined with intelligent players and good technique is the direction a new coach must have. A coach that's aggressive, smart, with good recruiting that is what's needed for this coaching position. *Overall Defensive team plan:* Keep Ruffin, I would keep him on staff, but not as a defensive coach, more of a mentoring father figure for the players, and assistant head coach. Hiring a new defensive coordinator and allowing him to bring in an entirely new defensive staff, including a [real] defensive line coach is the only way a new mindset, culture, and vision can be implemented quickly at OU. A complete change would mean replacing several coaches (Kerry Cooks, Calvin Thibodeaux, and Tim Kish). Rather than a small trickle of change over the next few years, which is likely inevitable at this point, a complete overhaul allows a new D-coordinator to implement new ideas and attitudes with his team. It seems to be the obvious and most logical plan at this point. OU could likely avoid the usual resistance that often comes when new methods are implemented. One idea is having the entire defense work offseason with the wrestling program, which would help instill physicality, conditioning, and techniques in physically controlling opponents, as well as building up core strength and balance to help overpower their opponents. Crosstraining can be very beneficial, and wrestling crosses over to football very well, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Only time will tell what Riley decides, but it needs to happen fast and be decisive if he hopes to retain the loyalty of Sooner nation.
great game. Murray is so f'ing quick. I've never seen a QB as quick as him. When he decides to run from the pocket....those first 6 steps or so are cat-like.
Looking good so far. We are ranked 47th in the country. Which is 4th in the Big 12. Last year we were ranked 101st, which was like 11th spots above last place in the FBS. Dead last in the Big 12.
After about the third game I dared to ask a few people whether he is better than Mayfield. It’s crazy to think things like that . But it may be true if he can finish it off.
Funny, after each OU score, the OSU score changes too on the very next play in the video. Trouble is, that almost is exactly what happened in the actual real time game. Same defensive crap-play since Bedlam 2001-2002 & the 2003 B12CCG butt kicking from KSU
Defense is gonna take years to be good because we don't have good players. Recruiting has to better but how do you convince a good defensive recruit to come to OU?
This is late, but that is an absolutely terrible take. TCU gets 3 star recruits with a couple 4 stars every year and puts up top 15 defenses. Meanwhile we get 4 star recruits with a couple 5 stars and last year we put out a defense that was ranked 101st in the country. Hell Iowa State put up a top 30 defense last year and they recruit garbage compared to us. its coaching. Its always been coaching. Thats why with Alex Grinch and his new lineup our defense is ranked 47th in the country so far this year. And 4th in the Big 12. We our a top 5 college football program in the nation. We get nonstop 4 and 5 star recruits. Blaming recruiting is complete crap. We just had horrible coaches.
Great highlights from the offense...what’s sad is there are only like 9-10 actually good highlights from the defense lol. About half of the defensive highlights were because OSU made a bad play on offense 😂🤦🏻♂️
If Ammendola doesn’t miss that extra point and Hubbard doesn’t turn the ball over, we would’ve been in trouble. OK State seemed like they wanted it more, but we barely escaped
Lincoln Riley 2 years as head coach . 2 bedlam wins. Mike Gundy 2 bedlam wins . 14 years as head coach . now tell me who is the better coach . Lincoln Riley . 2 college football playoffs . Mike Gundy 0 college football playoffs . boomer sooner
Watching in December 2019. I really wish we had last year’s offense to go with our new defense.
Mr. Macintosh is the new HolaKyle with these highlights🤟🏽
Thanks I look forward to these. I get to see the plays without the anxiety
Thanks man for this highligth videos! I spent some time at OU and your channel helps keeping me updated. Looking forward for the next video!!
Thank you Mr. McIntosh!
7:09 "Across midfield and he'll scamper out of bwwounds"
With all the $$ OU has, surely we can get a top of the line defensive coach!! thanks again for the the video!!
Hi how are you doing
Wasted numerous opportunities to push the lead & win comfortably. For some reason w/e the defense actually gets a couple consecutive stops, the offense stalls. Rarely play well at the same time.
sOUnerfan
I was just saying that last night!
Ticks me off when our poor defense FINALLY gets a stop, and then our offense decides to stall! 😠
sOUnerfan you are exactly correct, should have pushed the lead to at least 24 in the second/third quarters

@Keith Carey The only thing that's obvious is you are a moron. Or a troll. Either way, clueless.

Thanks man your videos are awesome keep them coming
Just will never get past how bad our defense was year after year
Thanks again for great quality and 60fps!!! BOOMER SOONER!!!
"They've waited 371 days for six little letters!" - And everyone forgot to bring the "D".
good work mr. macintosh

I bet your thumbs hurt
We should have that, finally
I was there at the game 3 years ago.
19:30 “RENOOS”?
Good work sir
great game. Murray is so f'ing quick. I've never seen a QB as quick as him. When he decides to run from the pocket....those first 6 steps or so are cat-like.
This game live was insane
I’ve noticed as of late since 2012 OK State seems to play us better in Norman than in Stillwater
I really hope Alex Grinch turns this atrocious defense around.

mark my word riley will win a national championship in a few years if we can get a defensive cordnador

Defense so bad that it doesn’t make the video edit
FFwd to the Defensive highlights,.....oh wait......
Imagine how good OU would be if they had a defense,
Bruh if only we had a better qb we could’ve won this game
Everyone, this is what happens when you rush 3 and refuse to pressure a QB
Our defense has come so far
Cool! :)
Sad when most of the defensive highlights are just corndog throwing bad passes to open guys. Our D is straight garbage.
Why does anyone still use Michael Vick's name? Please don't ever put Kyler Murray and Vick in the same sentence.
Susan Thank you! That's what I have been saying! People are WAY too quick to do that. Just stop it. Let Vick be Vick and Murray be Murray
I love kyler

Our defense is garbage but our offense is amazing
It's better than Mike stoops defense, our corners sucks period.

A missed extra point won that game.
Everybody scores around 48 in big 12 games. OSU blew it
