I never knew of the awesome gems at this place. I have been on the oddly shaped one many MANY years ago. 1988 to be exact. So cool to see the others here.
Thank you SO much for this. I used to work here when it was a Hyatt. From what I was told, the cage on the 3rd one was original. I normally worked 3rd shift and that elevator used to go up and down by itself at night, without being called... I don't believe in ghosts but it was rather creepy the first time :) The 4th elevator was the room service elevator (or at least it was when I worked there) Did it still smell weird? It used to, for some reason. There are actually a few more service elevators, but they aren't anything too special. Again, thank you SO much for sharing this! ♡Amber
They're all pretty quick :) Just be advised the access to everything is key-carded so it's not too easy to get around. Though if you're visiting it might be a cool place to stay.
This place does look pretty interesting. Is this attached to the Amtrak station? If so, this would be a convenient place to stay, as my family and I are getting there by train.
I remember coming here back in 2009, and I did see the caged elevator and the internal one with that piece cut off, but I never saw the pie shaped elevator. Where was the pie shaped one? I should get back to St. Louis sometime.
I'm thinking of renting a room here once the mall portion re-opens with my Hilton points from work. Then do a full hotel review/tour of the entire complex.
The third elevator that you found was probably modded or completely replaced in the 80s but the cage is covered by Plexiglass because by code, the cage has to be covered so nobody gets their fingers cut off
I was thinking the exact same. Shaft is probably original, but the elevator inside replaced during the 80's renovation (and plexiglass added to make it comply with modern code).
Nice video, BTW I have been there a few times and rode all those elevators you recorded except the wedge shaped one. And the elevator at 16:03 those were broken when my family and I tried to ride it.
Wow, that union station has one weird setup! Can you do a whole tour of the union station? I know that you had a older one, but can you do a more up to date one?
I like Union Station but when I suggested that they take the glass doors down in the mall, they ignored me. The glass doors keeps the mall people out of the most beautiful part of Union Station and now the mall is paying the price for what the hotel did by putting the doors up. Now with troublemakers getting off the MetroLink nowdays, maybe now I can see why the need for the doors up. But i think that the low-income people would probably stay out of that part of Union Station since they would not be able to afford the food in the Grand Hall.
The old combined with the new done in perfect harmony.
Theses are so beautiful! Hope they will never get modernized or replaced
Absolutely mind-blowing beautiful, so much style AND substance. Good on you lovely St Louis, a Midwest jewel!
It really is. And given that the restoration was done back in the 80's, it makes it all the more impressive that the hotel has held up so well.
Cool hotel! I stayed here in 2014 and loved it!

Love the dinner bells my mom stayed in that hotel when she went to STL for work

great variety of elevators. they are all different.
Epic motor on the first one!
1:17 a rail fans excitement moment :)
Man, that third elevator you filmed sure has some speed to it! That's one speedy hydro! I'll have to check this place out when I come to STL!

Very fascinating.
Awesome video! This place was so fun to explore :*)
Saw that indicator, and immediately thought of Pius Library and Lewis Annex at SLU!
I need to come here one day

It's in the stairwell right next to the hotel's front desk.
I wanna see these sometime
STL Elevators so do I

Then you would have the card key to ride the elevators.
I really really want to see these
It's so worth it -- this was my favorite exploration in a long time. Too bad everything is key-carded. Makes it hard to get around.

I think the first set of Elevators weren't glitching out. The bells are inside the shaft so it was probably echoing from the floor below
My moms office has westinghouse elevators with that type of indicator
It appears this place had a really big elevator project back in the 80s.
1:55 EPIC MOTOR!

Sounds like a great idea for a future video, but at the moment the majority of the place (pretty much all but the hotel) is closed for renovations.
Could you do an apartment tour soon? Thanks. And what elevator keys do you have?
I actually don't have any keys. I'm thinking of doing another tour given the amount of requests I've gotten. I just need to clean up first :)
didn't you used to have keys (like when you tried to go to the locked floor on the country clubs elevator?)
Didn't you used to have keys? (like when you tried to go to a locked floor on the Country Club's old elevator?)
Who saw the burnt out bulb at 2:39
Metro Stayed here during his visit
I believe
1:02 the chime sounds like the one in cartoons
Maybe that sound effect was possibly recorded from a Westy?

Those are so awesome. However, I wish carding them was never a thing.
For me, the video has no Life. There is too much length. Corridors lengths shown for nothing.
