Only tip I'll make is: when replacing a power plug, always cut the ground wire about a ¼" or so longer than the other wires. That way, when the plug gets yanked out of the wall by the cord...the safety of the ground wire is maintained even if the Common wire is pulled out. This will keep you from becoming the ground path for the Hot wire if you accidently touch something that is grounded (plumbing, metal framing, etc..).
Another thing with the grinder: You don’t have to use the wrench to tighten the wheel on, you could just hand tighten the nut then grab the outside of the wheel to tighten it and vice versa to take it off.
I'm learning carpentry with a lad who overtightened a grinder and got bling in his foot for it. Hearing him describe the ordeal made me wary of those things. But I'm sure he is happy the scar is on the foot and not the face.
In construction we only hand tighten them. Many of them will even get pissed off at you for making them to tight. If you think of the way the blade is spinning it will auto tight it self up as it grinds the metal.
jeff is a lucky guy to have a neighbour like you. i do like it when people come together to help one and other. doesnt take a workbench necessarily but help is always appreciated
20 year welder here. I dont know anybody that uses the wrench to tighten the grinder nut. I always push in the pin and tighten by hand. The act of using the grinder tightens the nut further.

Frankly I didn't even notice. Just seems natural to me. If your kids are not irresponsible, once old enough, your call, then you can leave guns out like that. My kids are fine. But I know some people that should not let their kids even near anything sharper than a butter knife. So sad they didn't train their kids!
as an electrician who does clean up after himself, i will say our trade will generate mass amounts of trash. they even package screws in plastic. we can easily fill a dumpster after unpackaging all the parts. if we didn't clean up it wouldn't take long before we couldn't walk in a room. i've spent many hours hauling trash to the dumpster. i have also found lots of good stuff in there. i like the dumpster on a big job. :?)
Agreed. All the screws and wire nuts. Romex comes wrapped in plastic. All the sheathing stripped from the wire. All the plastic wrappers from switch covers, etc. It's a lot of waste and wasted time.
I’m working as a apprentice right now and I have to agree with you, I’ve dabbled in some other trades, welding, carpentry, dirt work. But I’ve never seen a trade produce as just trash as an electrician, like you said just unboxing shit produces more trash than most people do performing their jobs

One of the things I like about welding is that if you cut the stock short you can easily add on what ever you need to make the right dimension. You can do the same with wood, but it is a lot harder to do and is not a seamless fix. Great video, thumbs up.

I have done home and industrial electrical jobs, and yes once you learn, it is easy for the most part. The hardest part is probably when space is tight, like in boxes or old country houses and so on. Most electricians in my area double down and also do plumbing on new homes, gets 2 birds stoned at once that way.
Yep. My dad was Master plumber and electrician, my oldest brother plumber, another one electrician, and I'm a Master plumber that does a bit of electrical, carpentry, brush cutting, Beaver killing, and whatever else pays 😉

Your doing fine man, I've seen worse from guys who are inspectors but never picked up a torch in thier lives. I think the old adage is "those that can't do teach, those that can don't care". I'm a deep sea guy used to work in the oil industry overseas before I got injured. Going for my inspection licenses as soon as I can. Keep up the great work man it brought a smile to my face many times while in the diving system some where in the world.
Have you tried 'cut off discs' on your grinder? I use a 1mm thick one to great effect. Another tip is if you are having difficulty putting wires into a plug because of thickness then don't twist them, Twisting it makes it thicker.
There's two types of boilermakers though, there's tube welders, and then boilermakers who rig, high rig, weld ductwork, condensers, maintain bag houses, and other collectors. 🤣
This is a cool build, Cody. I am sure your neighbour will enjoy it. I have been driving past our local scrap metal yard, and they have had similar acrow shelving there, and I have been wondering what I could do with some of that if they are willing to part with it. On the tightening of the angle grinder wheel.. I am not saying anyone is right or wrong regarding their theories, but while I was working in workshops, all the tradesmen always told me was to tighten the wheel up to hand tight, and the force of the motor would do the rest as it spins in the direction it tightens to. In most cases, this also resulted in a wheel that could be easily removed without too much hassle, and I have never had a wheel disintegrate or fall off on me using this method. Cody your comments on electricians are so on point. No matter where in the world you are electricians think there the bees nees. Im from the west of Ireland we have the same problem of electricians or Leecks, as some they are sometimes referred to, thinking they command the job site. My father was a foreman for many years, he always wanted everything neat and tidy. He has told me many stories of disagreements he had with electricians sub-concracting for him and not cleaning up after themselves. He said most of them were beside themselves when he requested them to cleanup afterthemselves. It amazing the same problem we face here are happening 5000 miles away.

I noticed you have your AR leaned up there with the muzzle pointing up. I was told a few years ago (although I haven’t ever had any problems) that keeping a gun sitting muzzle up can cause oil to run down into the action and gun it up. I used to store my guns that way and never had any problems but it’s a simple thing that could save some headache.
I work hvac an I cut galvanized sheet metal a lot sometimes even torch it and a tip to if you feel like you have galvanize poisoning drink milk it stops the affects
Love your videos. Great quality. Try make the one that follow on from each other, like the work bench ones, come up next to play. It’s difficult to find which of the videos is next in the series. The reason an electricians job is skillful, is because every job is different. You have to think about what is needed for the customer. Residential, commercial or industrial. Running a cable from A to B is different every time. And then you have to work within all the rules. Imagine a carpenter that has to be creative and also work within so many rules.

Yeah, I over-tightened my thin cutoff wheel on my Dremel tool once. It split in half at high speed and spiked off my orbital bone right below my lower eyelid. At least you're wearing eye protection, but as hard as that little wafer hit me, I'd hate to imagine what a full-sized one could do.

I heard somewhere if you are right handed you mount your vice on the left side of your bench. Is this also something any of you have heard as well?It’s supposed to make things feel more natural and thus faster, this only works if you have enough space to house the materials length on the left end of your bench. Another note on the fiber wheel you may consider wearing your chainsaw chaps just in case you explode one of those wheels at crotch level, doesn’t take much for one to catch and let loose in a hail of shrapnel, your choice.

Rob Pridemore I’m electrician that works anywhere from 24 volts to 27,600 volts. I do a lot of 480 volt stuff. Other sites I go to are 600 volt. Just do your checks before you put your meat hooks on it and stay safe.
My dad summed up being an electrician in a pretty succinct way: "if all your parts are color coded and labeled, you're probably walking down easy st." Seems to hold up.
i dont know. I've worked on some factory electrical enclosures for assembly lines and there is not enough colors in the world to help you with that kind of mess. And by the time you need to fix something in it the wires are all the same shade of gray-brown :D And then you find out somebody threw out electrical plans of the enclosure 10 years ago and it has some 200 odd connections. and you get to spend so much time in front of that thing you start giving the elements names. But then again it probably night and day difference in electrical work between USA and where i'm from. I'm not saying its the hardest job out there but it can be both physically and mentally challenging. but thats why i love it. i dont have to sit behind a desk 8 hours a day, and chances are im doing something different every day.
I made a rookie mistake in high school about 3 years ago i went into a scrap metal pile to practice welding, not knowing that what i was welding was galvanized tubing. Until after i showed my friends the beads they said "why did you weld galvanized pipe" to which i said idk i just found it. the next day i felt the sickness hit me HARD, id put it up to the feeling of when you get food poisoning. i learned the hard way to check what im welding lol EDIT: We had air vents for the welding booths which actually probably saved me from a trip to the hospital
"It takes a brave man to show his welding online" is your quote! I just watched your video where you welded the brackets for the tool tray in the ballast box and you said the same thing. anyway, keep up the great work and keep living the dream for us who can't yet.
On electricians, I know three. I played marine electrician (civilian, for the Navy) and years more in electronics. We think differently, after we get into electronics, it seems. All three of my friend electricians insisted I only needed a hundred amp service for my little woodworking shop (30x60). It has two three horse dust collectors and one two horse one, the usual array of sawdust and chip makers (e.g., cabinet saw, 8: long bed jointer, two bandsaws, etc), HVAC, about thirty-five four foot LEDs, a radio, and a copper plating station. My friend electricians' assertions are: 1) 240 takes less current; and, 2) I won't be putting that much of a draw on my system. Mine assertions are: 1) They presume too much and fail to look to the future. That is, they get caught up in the "[c]ode only requires"; 2) Each 240 circuit requires two spots on the panel, and those circuits still use about the same wattage (heat); 2) Friends come over and two collectors might run at once, along with a jointer and a table saw, etc.; 3) The HVAC, alone, pushes near the limit of the panel and feed (we have actual climate change - EVERY YEAR since time immemorial, so there are a couple small windows in the year that I don't have to run air or heat). As such, adding even one 15amp run level dust collector and table saw or three horse jointer to the circuit, along with the lights, will push far beyond the capacity of the system. In short, it seems too many electricians seem to forget people hire them because they are the experts on what they need, and fail to look to the future. For example, will the home owner try to run space heaters off those 14 gauge outlets in the front room? Will someone invent electronics that take us from needing just two outlets for lamps in the whole home (okay, that already happened). Might the people need more lighting in a kitchen, and so on. Yeah, it costs money, but it's a good idea to point out to people the minimum code requires may mean you cannot do anything more than add a fluorescent or LED. In truth, if it wasn't such a pain, and cost, all my outlets would be ten gauge. It would sure make adding outlets and plugging in another large toy less worrysome.
I put the nut up against the grinding wheel snug, then let the grinder tighten it as it works. The black wire is usually hot, don't let it touch any other wire, especially a red one. Treat every wire as if it is hot until you test it to make sure the polarity isn't faulty, and use only one hand when possible if you know the circuit is live. Easy-peasy.
Yes! Had to comment on this: was in the trades for many years and it always torqued me that sparky's could never be bothered to clean up their messes. All the other trades did right to keep a jobsite tidy but those guys.
I have 7 welding certs in 3 different processes, was a fabricator for 20 years. I don't see anything wrong with your welds Cody, will be more than fine for intended purposes. On a side note ; I have done construction site cleanup in between gigs, and I would have to agree with you about Electricians. They don't pick up ANYTHING - if it hits the ground it usually stays there.
Iam qualified in both carpentry and joinery and as an Electrician and I can confirm electrical is a piece of cake compared to carpentry and joinery And I agree with your comments they can’t think out the box and will never clean up after themselves 👉
Great video Cody something led me to comment about what you said about people critiquing your work. I work for an OEM truck up fitter/truck pool/ snow plow distributor in northern Colorado. Most of our clients are state or local dealer ships. We have a very high standard for quality here and yes I have seen things that you have done that I would do different but that is just because you don’t work in the trade I do. There is nothing wrong with it now could you benefit from the information I have maybe but I was taught by one of my superiors “if someone doesn’t ask you specifically for advice don’t say anything or you look like a know it all let them learn on their own that is best” which I have learned is the best most of the practical knowledge I feel I e gained is from learning how it works best for me.
I bought a very cheap plasma cutter here in the UK from a German owned supermarket which is really good for the money (though you can see from my review that I do need a better compressor) so I bet yours works fine as long as you don't go too thick.
As an example of scary electrical work that hasn't burned down TOO many places: Missouri & Arkansas. You can still find places (homes and restaurants) using BARE conductors in post and tube construction. Stuff is "grandfathered" in from before the civil war, and still in use. A lot of places don't even have code enforcement. If any inspection is done, It's probably by the insurance company.
I have an electrical/electronics degree but I never used it as I work as a tool & die maker; I use cnc machines to make custom molds and fixtures. I couldn't agree with you and your statement more.
I’m and electromechanical technician in a large factory. I see so many sketchy things electrical wise. Also I do the same darn thing of getting ahead in my head and either overshooting or under shooting what I need when working some projects. I can’t wait for your plasma torch review.
I would agree on you electrical comment speaking for residential electricians and even some commercial but definitely not for industrial. There is so much that goes into factories.
I’ve never used a guard for my side grinder either because it was always in the way, until my Makita burnt up so bought a new DeWalt and the guard is easily adjustable with no tool or removing the wheel.
I had a blade so stuck on my skillsaw even Hercules couldn't get it off. Ever since then I've put never seize on all the threads of my saws and grinders.
On your wood working bench, you have those jigs that you clamp into the bench vise, so you can swap out different benchtools. Just an idea, what if you had a benchgrinder or something mounted on a post that could slide into and lock onto those joints on the legs? Since the top is already ~18inches short of the edge, could there be something clever you could do instead of just a plain top? Recessed top (like on your woodworking bench) to store tools being used?
If you had a vise or bench grinder mounted into those adjustable height slide locks on the legs, you could easily adjust the height of the tool, and have the option of removing it, or moving it to a different corner
Cody, Those long beams look like they're galvanized. Please, please, please, use plenty of ventilation and a rated respirator. The zinc oxide produced from welding is definitely not good. Pretty sure we all want to see you keep making great videos!

In the UK it is mandatory to wear breathing protection or to have total fume extraction (or both) due to the tixicity of welding fume (let alone fume from welding galvanized). Carcinogenic.
Just a heads up to be careful using a grinder with your van in the shop, the sparks can hit the glass and melt into it making a gritty mess that will go rusty. Same goes with weld spatter but that doesn’t fly as far. Keep up the good work though your building something Jeff will have and enjoy for a long time
As a number of others have noted, an N95 mask only protects you from dust particles, not fumes. However, wearing a dust mask for grinding is modeling good behavior. The good news is the symptoms of mild exposure to Zinc Oxide are not usually very sever or long lasting. Keep the work space well ventilated and if you start to feel a headache or nausea coming on, just stop the work and get some fresh air.
Wranglerstar. If you want the best of all worlds, electrician, framer, equipment operator, tree trimmers where you come in as an apprentice and end as a highly skilled laborer (if you make it), you’ve got a power lineman!
The problem is that most electrical work is really simple but people still mess it up... electricians just lost hope in people after seeing too many homeowner specials..
As a flex trade worker (Welder Fitter/Millwright) I later in life took 2 yrs of a 3 yrs Electrical Technologist course. I found out that I just loved it... too bad a car accident took me out of the workforce. It was a trade I wouldn't have minded getting old in 👍
My favorite welding benches used flat iron turned on edge and were removable so you could change the spacing. If you wanted a solid top too you could alway put a piece of sheet over the slates. But this design allow for sparks and slag to fall down into a catch tray. I will say the plywood covered by sheet metal seems like a bad idea if that work surface ever get hot

Your doing fine man, I've seen worse from guys who are inspectors but never picked up a torch in thier lives. I think the old adage is "those that can't do teach, those that can don't care". I'm a deep sea guy used to work in the oil industry overseas before I got injured. Going for my inspection licenses as soon as I can. Keep up the great work man it brought a smile to my face many times while in the diving system some where in the world.

As a bricklayer, I’m offended that you said electricians left the biggest mess.
Have you tried 'cut off discs' on your grinder? I use a 1mm thick one to great effect. Another tip is if you are having difficulty putting wires into a plug because of thickness then don't twist them, Twisting it makes it thicker.
Boilermakers are probably some of the best welders I've ever seen.

There's two types of boilermakers though, there's tube welders, and then boilermakers who rig, high rig, weld ductwork, condensers, maintain bag houses, and other collectors. 🤣

This is a cool build, Cody. I am sure your neighbour will enjoy it. I have been driving past our local scrap metal yard, and they have had similar acrow shelving there, and I have been wondering what I could do with some of that if they are willing to part with it. On the tightening of the angle grinder wheel.. I am not saying anyone is right or wrong regarding their theories, but while I was working in workshops, all the tradesmen always told me was to tighten the wheel up to hand tight, and the force of the motor would do the rest as it spins in the direction it tightens to. In most cases, this also resulted in a wheel that could be easily removed without too much hassle, and I have never had a wheel disintegrate or fall off on me using this method. Keep up the great work

Cody your comments on electricians are so on point. No matter where in the world you are electricians think there the bees nees. Im from the west of Ireland we have the same problem of electricians or Leecks, as some they are sometimes referred to, thinking they command the job site. My father was a foreman for many years, he always wanted everything neat and tidy. He has told me many stories of disagreements he had with electricians sub-concracting for him and not cleaning up after themselves. He said most of them were beside themselves when he requested them to cleanup afterthemselves. It amazing the same problem we face here are happening 5000 miles away.

I noticed you have your AR leaned up there with the muzzle pointing up. I was told a few years ago (although I haven’t ever had any problems) that keeping a gun sitting muzzle up can cause oil to run down into the action and gun it up. I used to store my guns that way and never had any problems but it’s a simple thing that could save some headache.
I work hvac an I cut galvanized sheet metal a lot sometimes even torch it and a tip to if you feel like you have galvanize poisoning drink milk it stops the affects

The reason an electricians job is skillful, is because every job is different. You have to think about what is needed for the customer. Residential, commercial or industrial. Running a cable from A to B is different every time. And then you have to work within all the rules. Imagine a carpenter that has to be creative and also work within so many rules.
Cody, I was raised to believe that if you have the ability to help someone you have the duty to do so, and I want to thank you for showing people the importance of taking the time to help your neighbor out.

This is the best You Tube channel! I began watching some of the first videos that really inspired me in many ways. I guess number one is it’s a family friendly in all videos with a wide range of ideas for many walks of life can find something that peaks their interest. Yeah, I over-tightened my thin cutoff wheel on my Dremel tool once. It split in half at high speed and spiked off my orbital bone right below my lower eyelid. At least you're wearing eye protection, but as hard as that little wafer hit me, I'd hate to imagine what a full-sized one could do.

I heard somewhere if you are right handed you mount your vice on the left side of your bench. Is this also something any of you have heard as well?It’s supposed to make things feel more natural and thus faster, this only works if you have enough space to house the materials length on the left end of your bench. Another note on the fiber wheel you may consider wearing your chainsaw chaps just in case you explode one of those wheels at crotch level, doesn’t take much for one to catch and let loose in a hail of shrapnel, your choice.

Waiting on the plasma cutter review. Always wanted one, figured the cheapos were crap. Way to be a good neighbor west coast. I knew you were a good guy despite your geographic shortcomings. I still love seeing those certain things that random show up that we must not speak of in this venue.
As an electrician at a refinery, I have to figure out things all the time. When I get prints from an engineer that hasn’t set foot on the site, there is always something. On the other had most of the carpenters slap up scaffolding all day.

Rob Pridemore I’m electrician that works anywhere from 24 volts to 27,600 volts. I do a lot of 480 volt stuff. Other sites I go to are 600 volt. Just do your checks before you put your meat hooks on it and stay safe.

i dont know. I've worked on some factory electrical enclosures for assembly lines and there is not enough colors in the world to help you with that kind of mess. And by the time you need to fix something in it the wires are all the same shade of gray-brown :D And then you find out somebody threw out electrical plans of the enclosure 10 years ago and it has some 200 odd connections. and you get to spend so much time in front of that thing you start giving the elements names. But then again it probably night and day difference in electrical work between USA and where i'm from. I'm not saying its the hardest job out there but it can be both physically and mentally challenging. but thats why i love it. i dont have to sit behind a desk 8 hours a day, and chances are im doing something different every day.
I made a rookie mistake in high school about 3 years ago i went into a scrap metal pile to practice welding, not knowing that what i was welding was galvanized tubing. Until after i showed my friends the beads they said "why did you weld galvanized pipe" to which i said idk i just found it. the next day i felt the sickness hit me HARD, id put it up to the feeling of when you get food poisoning. i learned the hard way to check what im welding lol EDIT: We had air vents for the welding booths which actually probably saved me from a trip to the hospital

On electricians, I know three. I played marine electrician (civilian, for the Navy) and years more in electronics. We think differently, after we get into electronics, it seems.
All three of my friend electricians insisted I only needed a hundred amp service for my little woodworking shop (30x60). It has two three horse dust collectors and one two horse one, the usual array of sawdust and chip makers (e.g., cabinet saw, 8: long bed jointer, two bandsaws, etc), HVAC, about thirty-five four foot LEDs, a radio, and a copper plating station.
My friend electricians' assertions are:
1) 240 takes less current; and,
2) I won't be putting that much of a draw on my system.
Mine assertions are:
1) They presume too much and fail to look to the future. That is, they get caught up in the "[c]ode only requires";
2) Each 240 circuit requires two spots on the panel, and those circuits still use about the same wattage (heat); 2) Friends come over and two collectors might run at once, along with a jointer and a table saw, etc.;
3) The HVAC, alone, pushes near the limit of the panel and feed (we have actual climate change - EVERY YEAR since time immemorial, so there are a couple small windows in the year that I don't have to run air or heat). As such, adding even one 15amp run level dust collector and table saw or three horse jointer to the circuit, along with the lights, will push far beyond the capacity of the system.
In short, it seems too many electricians seem to forget people hire them because they are the experts on what they need, and fail to look to the future. For example, will the home owner try to run space heaters off those 14 gauge outlets in the front room? Will someone invent electronics that take us from needing just two outlets for lamps in the whole home (okay, that already happened). Might the people need more lighting in a kitchen, and so on.
Yeah, it costs money, but it's a good idea to point out to people the minimum code requires may mean you cannot do anything more than add a fluorescent or LED. In truth, if it wasn't such a pain, and cost, all my outlets would be ten gauge. It would sure make adding outlets and plugging in another large toy less worrysome.

I put the nut up against the grinding wheel snug, then let the grinder tighten it as it works. The black wire is usually hot, don't let it touch any other wire, especially a red one. Treat every wire as if it is hot until you test it to make sure the polarity isn't faulty, and use only one hand when possible if you know the circuit is live. Easy-peasy.
Yes! Had to comment on this: was in the trades for many years and it always torqued me that sparky's could never be bothered to clean up their messes. All the other trades did right to keep a jobsite tidy but those guys.
I have 7 welding certs in 3 different processes, was a fabricator for 20 years. I don't see anything wrong with your welds Cody, will be more than fine for intended purposes. On a side note ; I have done construction site cleanup in between gigs, and I would have to agree with you about Electricians. They don't pick up ANYTHING - if it hits the ground it usually stays there.

Great video Cody something led me to comment about what you said about people critiquing your work. I work for an OEM truck up fitter/truck pool/ snow plow distributor in northern Colorado. Most of our clients are state or local dealer ships. We have a very high standard for quality here and yes I have seen things that you have done that I would do different but that is just because you don’t work in the trade I do. There is nothing wrong with it now could you benefit from the information I have maybe but I was taught by one of my superiors “if someone doesn’t ask you specifically for advice don’t say anything or you look like a know it all let them learn on their own that is best” which I have learned is the best most of the practical knowledge I feel I e gained is from learning how it works best for me.
I bought a very cheap plasma cutter here in the UK from a German owned supermarket which is really good for the money (though you can see from my review that I do need a better compressor) so I bet yours works fine as long as you don't go too thick.
When u use a thick grinding wheel put the lip toward the grinder on the locking piece 1:02. Good video keep up the good work👊
As an example of scary electrical work that hasn't burned down TOO many places: Missouri & Arkansas. You can still find places (homes and restaurants) using BARE conductors in post and tube construction. Stuff is "grandfathered" in from before the civil war, and still in use. A lot of places don't even have code enforcement. If any inspection is done, It's probably by the insurance company.

I have an electrical/electronics degree but I never used it as I work as a tool & die maker; I use cnc machines to make custom molds and fixtures. I couldn't agree with you and your statement more.

I’m and electromechanical technician in a large factory. I see so many sketchy things electrical wise. Also I do the same darn thing of getting ahead in my head and either overshooting or under shooting what I need when working some projects. I can’t wait for your plasma torch review.
I would agree on you electrical comment speaking for residential electricians and even some commercial but definitely not for industrial. There is so much that goes into factories.
I’ve never used a guard for my side grinder either because it was always in the way, until my Makita burnt up so bought a new DeWalt and the guard is easily adjustable with no tool or removing the wheel.
I had a blade so stuck on my skillsaw even Hercules couldn't get it off. Ever since then I've put never seize on all the threads of my saws and grinders.

Just slip an O-ring over the bolt and tighten the blade down on the O-ring and it'll come right off without any problem

On your wood working bench, you have those jigs that you clamp into the bench vise, so you can swap out different benchtools.
Just an idea, what if you had a benchgrinder or something mounted on a post that could slide into and lock onto those joints on the legs?
Since the top is already ~18inches short of the edge, could there be something clever you could do instead of just a plain top? Recessed top (like on your woodworking bench) to store tools being used?
If you had a vise or bench grinder mounted into those adjustable height slide locks on the legs, you could easily adjust the height of the tool, and have the option of removing it, or moving it to a different corner

Please, please, please, use plenty of ventilation and a rated respirator. The zinc oxide produced from welding is definitely not good.

In the UK it is mandatory to wear breathing protection or to have total fume extraction (or both) due to the tixicity of welding fume (let alone fume from welding galvanized). Carcinogenic.
Just a heads up to be careful using a grinder with your van in the shop, the sparks can hit the glass and melt into it making a gritty mess that will go rusty. Same goes with weld spatter but that doesn’t fly as far. Keep up the good work though your building something Jeff will have and enjoy for a long time
As a number of others have noted, an N95 mask only protects you from dust particles, not fumes. However, wearing a dust mask for grinding is modeling good behavior. The good news is the symptoms of mild exposure to Zinc Oxide are not usually very sever or long lasting. Keep the work space well ventilated and if you start to feel a headache or nausea coming on, just stop the work and get some fresh air.
Wranglerstar. If you want the best of all worlds, electrician, framer, equipment operator, tree trimmers where you come in as an apprentice and end as a highly skilled laborer (if you make it), you’ve got a power lineman!
those keyhole mounts by the leg would make a nice removable vice mount if you have extra steel.
The problem is that most electrical work is really simple but people still mess it up... electricians just lost hope in people after seeing too many homeowner specials..

As a flex trade worker (Welder Fitter/Millwright) I later in life took 2 yrs of a 3 yrs Electrical Technologist course. I found out that I just loved it... too bad a car accident took me out of the workforce. It was a trade I wouldn't have minded getting old in 👍

My favorite welding benches used flat iron turned on edge and were removable so you could change the spacing. If you wanted a solid top too you could alway put a piece of sheet over the slates. But this design allow for sparks and slag to fall down into a catch tray. I will say the plywood covered by sheet metal seems like a bad idea if that work surface ever get hot
