Pyrrha literally met Jaune 20 minutes earlier, launched her rocket powered javelin at him and caught him by THE HOODIE.
If I didn't know any better, I would have guessed Pyrrha tagged Jaune with a bit of metal in the locker room when she threw her javelin at him, then specifically sought him out in her scope and used her semblance to automatically attract the weapon to his hood, claiming him as her own.
But that would be crazy and stalker-ish, and TOTALLY not how it probably happened in canon.
