    This episode bought back many memories from our trip in 2013. We didn’t stay at Daly but had lunch there and it was the best and largest burger ever! Next time we will definitely stay there. We stayed at Bitter springs caravan park 4nights and each day we wandered to the springs for a swim. Couldn’t get a better place to chill out 😊😊

    Love the footage at about 39:56 where your daughter is clearly immersed in whatever DVD she was watching with two soft toys on her lap. She is super cute and seems to be growing up so fast. I stayed at Daly Waters in 1982 and paid $5 to pitch a tent. The ground was so hard I couldn't knock in any of the tent pegs. $5 for a shower, the beer and petrol was expensive, never again.

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      She’s a cutie hey, but agree she’s growing up so fast and changing every day!!
      That’s a shame about Daly Waters back then, it was such a great spot we thought! 🙁

    This was definitely one of the advantages of visiting Mataranka Springs during COVID. Normally those springs are jammed packed and it can really detract from the experience. We were lucky and lived in Katherine for a while in the late 80's, so were fortunate to experience the Mataranka Springs numerous times during both the wet and dry season. Flying Fox poo smell can be a bit overwhelming during the season as well. The fact you had the whole place to yourself is unbelievable! We took the kids to the NT a couple of years ago to visit all the stuff we did when we lived their early in our marriage, and Mataranka Springs was a must see. Great channel guys.

      Thank you Brad for the feedback! We were so lucky to have it to ourselves, I guess being wet season and Covid combined... there are some advantages to travelling off season 🤙🏻☺️ hopefully catch you on the road one day 😁

    We always divert to Tennant Creek for cheaper fuel. Mataranka Thermal Pools is a natural stream, over the years they’ve built all the steps/railing etc to make it all look man made which makes it more crowded than Bitter Springs.

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We were going to stay at Tennant Creek with Paul and Annie one more night but there were some indigenous issues down there at the time we passed through so it was three ways or keep driving!
      We preferred the Mataranka ones because of Jack, it was much easier for him to hang out there. Nice to have the two very different types.

    More drone. Getting slack. Fuel price is horrendous at Threeways and food is not much better. If you can, turn left at Threeways and go into Tennant Creek. First BP has much cheaper fuel, better food and a Red Rooster. Just a heads up with the hot springs/thermal pools. I had a minor spill of my motorbike and took some bark off when I first did my first trip years ago. When I got to Darwin I got a tropical ulcer. Nurse asked did I stop at any thermal springs. Yes I said, she then told me normal for open cuts/wounds to have problems in wet season as thermal springs are the ideal temp for bacteria. No open breaks in skin, no probs. Or wash down in antiseptic. Katherine has better priced fuel at unmanned sites at Zimm Dr.

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh interesting! Well it makes sense, most health issues are more prevalent up here as bacteria grows quickly as you say. Touch wood we’ve been ok so far but I’m very wary of wounds in this weather and climate 🧐🧐

    Hi Guys,yet another awesome video! Very curious as to your average fuel consumption with the V8 petrol compared to diesel, particularly with towing. I've driven both for many years & am of the opinion that HP = fuel consumption, regardless of fuel type. Best economical vehicle to date was a 3.5ltr, 200kw V6 Toyota Aurion, current vehicle has a 2.5ltr Turbo Diesel using 2ltr per 100km more NOT TOWING! There a number of videos on TH-cam where the Patrol V8 Petrol is more economical than the similar 'Cruiser V8 Diesel.... your thoughts?

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ian, we covered fuel consumption/costs and lots more in this final build episode :) would agree they are very competitive with the cruisers though! th-cam.com/video/pcPVA6D4ruc/w-d-xo.html

      Hey guys, what a dumb thing to do, washing the fuel off your car with the windows washer. Do you know how dangerous that is for the next person who who washes their windows. Nothing more scary than looking through a rainbow in the rain

    • @myaussiebabe1
      @myaussiebabe1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve, I was coming on to comment about exactly the same thing. Sometimes the flying ants are as thick as mud in that area and you definitely need to use the washer.

      Righto guys, I hear you! These things happen and it's up there for the world to see now which I won't change because we like to share the good and the bad. Personally, I wouldn't trust a servo brush on any car for the same reasons you say and we usually do use paper towel however, on this occasion Chris didn't... I'd love to say we are perfect and poop rainbows but we all know that'd be a lie, are you perfect? 🌈 We are always up for a constructive discussion with you when things go wrong. Cheers for watching and catch you on the next episode! 😁🤙🏼

    great episode guys! good to know there about those places you stayed along the way. Quick question, do you feel a huge difference in the Patrol when using 91 vs 98 Petrol? CHeers. Also I guess you guys did this before getting the bar?

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly no difference at all, we always opt 91 and it drives awesome. And yes this was before the bar, the bar is fitted in Darwin 🤙🏻😍

      Totally agree, they must all be Chris's fault!! We really miss Paul & Annie, we spend nearly 4 months with them all up... They're back in Queensland now in a house actually. Jack’s shoes were on and off for a good period of time and he loved them and then hated them! I can't remember if he loved them or not at this point lol... See you at Katherine!
