It all depends on what trade you pick. As well as a lot of times during your course there are things that will make you uncomfortable, you just have to push through and beat your fears.

Yes you show up in civilian clothes they will make you lock it up with any other civilian things your brought with you and then you will collect it all once you leave.
It’s really depends on how in demand your trade is and your aptitude test score for the techs I believe it can be from 2 months to 6 months maybe even less with Covid it could be longer I’m not sure I’m still waiting to go on course and it’s been delayed for the 2nd time.
Duncan Days appreciate your time replying. Okay i guess ill have to wait for the email or call. And for bringing medical supplies on basic camp. You mentioned you can bring any multivitamins etc. How much is allowed to bring? Thats really important for me since id like to keep my emergency meds such as colds and flu medicine at all times.
Terence Mostoles you can bring I believe one bottle of each in they do have a store at CFLRS that you can buy more and new stuff. And bring name brand stuff so the instructors don’t think it’s anything else as well as all medicine had to be in sealed container, as in brand new and not open.
Basic training is in Quebec just outside Montreal. But I know they are doing it other places right now due to Covid but it’s rare. And it depends on the Recruitment center
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam i’m currently at BMQ in CFB Esquimalt on vancouver island! ended up joining the navy and I graduate BMQ on Tuesday. it’s been a blast so far
since february test ok medical ok covid19------------------------------------next monday interview i applied for sensor operator in rcaf. stay tune with your recrutement center !
Was it difficult for you and your wife at the time apart since there is from what I heard heavy restricted cellphone use? I also had someone tell me he was dubbed Hollywood platoon as his had unrestricted cellphone use in the evenings which is insane lucky.
It was difficult for sure but the 30mins you get a night (well for my platoon) it was very nice and helpful to keep me going. Yeah that’s very rare for that to happen but it is nice on weekends you get for phone all day after the first 4 weeks.
You can use your sell phone but it has to be locked up after and if they find your phone when it’s not supposed to be locked up the punish the whole platoon and look all the phones up or take away your weekend.
They have a locker in one of the common areas on the floor where you lock it up. However each platoon is different and you may be able to keep it in your personal locker in your area I’ve heard both ways for myself it was a locker in one of our common rooms and we would get the key each nice at 8:00 to open it.
It can depend on your trade and with the Covid stuff could take a little bit as well as your local recutting center. Doesn’t hurt to call them and to check up
@@CWDFilms yeah i picked Infantry and they've told me to make monthly calls just to check but my recruiter also said it's usually 6-8 months and it's aboutta be 9 months im assuming. I am unfamiliar with what the navy does for there reserves but it would be something to ask one of the requirements personal. That will have more answers.
Guys any advice for the aptitude test ? where can you practise best for it and for people who did the test before , what did they focus on more in the test ?
The CFAT isn't something to stress about. I did mine in November. It is a test designed to let you pass. If you can order the Canadian Forces aptitude study materials they will make the test much easier. Biggest help I can recommend would be make sure you get enough sleep the night before.
I can’t speak for the army. But the average age for people you will meet at BMQ is between 20 - 26. What trade and where are you going to do your basic?
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam infantry, I figured that I was kind of young for the army when I saw the reaction of my recruiter. I can easily pass for 20-21. I am gonna my basic at my regiment Fusilier Mont-Royal
@@bisonturbo oh, I will, and I'm not the type to let anything stop or even slow me down, period, and besides doing pushups in a mud puddle while being drenched in rain with a 50lb backpack then going for a run is something I do for fun.
Babos123 Qwe from what I know you could, but it would be up to the medical staff and the army to see. If you lie you won’t get in if you are truthful and up front they will be more pleased as will help you better to get where you want to go and what you want to do.
Get a caf aptitude test book online, it gives you an idea on what will be on the test, it's been a year and a half since I took the test but I know grad 10 math will be on there I think nothing hard
I did my CFAT last month. Get lots of sleep. Relax and remember to breathe. The test isn't all that difficult. Most of the answers will be pretty obvious. I struggled with the spacial awareness section but still managed to pass. Study the guide that OG_Halo recommended and you will be fine.
For me it was a little over a year from start of application to going off to basic, due to my trade not being in demand and extra medical I had to do for it
Babos123 Qwe they do not buy they do ask if you have broken any in the last 2-3 year if I can recall. The medical is very easy and it’s not something to worry about.
It’s just a review of your medical file made by the military after you have done the medical with the military. It’s just them looking at it and putting it on your Military file. The medical stuff is easy and nothing to really worry about.

@@tannercallaghantiktok3471 As long as youre fit you should be good. My medical went good, and my interview was pretty easy. I just finished highschool so my experience isnt the best, they didnt ask too many questions.
@@lenoron4453 Thanks! I'm in decent shape I can lift a decent amount and stuff but I need to work on my running game, Ran a mile today and it wasn't horrible but took me 10 minutes 😳
@@tannercallaghantiktok3471 I'm a track athlete so I've been running my whole life. I heard basic isn't to hard. 13km rug march is the last test, in the U.S they do something closer to 30
Im in cadets drill is my lest favourite but its not the worst but i cant wait to join the navy
hey are you allowed to bring your phone
You are allowed to bring your phone. But there are rules with when and how long you can us it.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam oh ok thx i am want to join soon this helped alot
Kind of a random question but what happens with your city clothes? Do you take it with you to basic or do you leave it at home?
Yes you show up in civilian clothes they will make you lock it up with any other civilian things your brought with you and then you will collect it all once you leave.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam oh ok that makes a lot more sense thanks!
Just uploaded a new video about how to join the Canadian forces
Yo, I'm going to talk to a recruiter in the winter, should I practice making my boots look like glass now? And can you take extra drill classes?
Did you get paid during the gabs bwtween BMQ and and other tranings ?
Yes I got paid at basic and have never not been paid since joining
On acs 3's rn, honestly don't expect to come to Borden anytime soon. Covid really postponed training
At least for new courses
@@haydenjambrich3758 good trade choice...i have been ACS for the last 20 years good luck in Borden.
Does everyone have to do basic training there my friend hasn’t finished basic training but has been doing in Georgetown Ontario?
Just did my cfat test 2 weeks ago. Just wondering how long to wait for the interview? Applied for aircraft tech. Thank you
It’s really depends on how in demand your trade is and your aptitude test score for the techs I believe it can be from 2 months to 6 months maybe even less with Covid it could be longer I’m not sure I’m still waiting to go on course and it’s been delayed for the 2nd time.
I was called 3 days after my cfat, it varies.
are the pods sorted by gender? For example, I'm a female, is my pod of 6 going to be men as well or just other women?
The pod are gender sorted. So you will be in a pod with the same gender.
Alright, thank you so much. :)
Where is basic training? And for infantry how long would it take for the application process?
Basic training is in Quebec just outside Montreal. But I know they are doing it other places right now due to Covid but it’s rare. And it depends on the Recruitment center
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam i’m currently at BMQ in CFB Esquimalt on vancouver island! ended up joining the navy and I graduate BMQ on Tuesday. it’s been a blast so far
Congrats. I was at Esquimalt fit a year waiting to go on my dp 1
Im wondering how important it is to have the ability to swim during basic training
When I went though the pool was closed so we didn’t do the swimming.
since february test ok medical ok covid19------------------------------------next monday interview i applied for sensor operator in rcaf. stay tune with your recrutement center !
Everyone’s gets the plague in bmq lol
tell me about it. week 2-10
Love ya buddy! 2 section best section
Daniel Laidler you too bud!
What's the weight of the rucksack?
BMQ is not the hardest part of the military. SQ, DP1, PLQ?
anything after basic lol
Was it difficult for you and your wife at the time apart since there is from what I heard heavy restricted cellphone use? I also had someone tell me he was dubbed Hollywood platoon as his had unrestricted cellphone use in the evenings which is insane lucky.
It was difficult for sure but the 30mins you get a night (well for my platoon) it was very nice and helpful to keep me going. Yeah that’s very rare for that to happen but it is nice on weekends you get for phone all day after the first 4 weeks.
Duncan Days so at night you can use your cell for the 30 mins or is it a landline you have to use
You can use your sell phone but it has to be locked up after and if they find your phone when it’s not supposed to be locked up the punish the whole platoon and look all the phones up or take away your weekend.
Duncan Days guessing you lock it in your locker in your room?
They have a locker in one of the common areas on the floor where you lock it up. However each platoon is different and you may be able to keep it in your personal locker in your area I’ve heard both ways for myself it was a locker in one of our common rooms and we would get the key each nice at 8:00 to open it.
Is there airborne training in basic military training?
Airborne is a specialty training. You can request that when you get to your unit
sent the application around january, still waiting to be accepted
It can depend on your trade and with the Covid stuff could take a little bit as well as your local recutting center. Doesn’t hurt to call them and to check up
@@CWDFilms yeah i picked Infantry and they've told me to make monthly calls just to check but my recruiter also said it's usually 6-8 months and it's aboutta be 9 months im assuming. I read on other forums it's taken 2 years or a full year so im hoping that's not the case especially with the pandemic
@@jsthecanuck6804 hey man any updates on your application?
Yo 😂 I was 69kg before the quarantine and now I am 75kg WHOOHOOO bmq 💀 I’m gonna die
When did you do your bmq?
@@liamking4180 I did my Bmq 2-3 months ago at saint hyacinthe but I got injured on my 15th day :( I was pretty suprised how I got back to being physically fit but I tried doing the most like a dumbass and got injured, now I gotta wait for a part time bmq to come up so I can join
@@yessir6282 Would you be able to elucidate on how you received the unfortunate injury? In hindsight, do you presume that there were methods or preliminary actions in order to defer this injury?
@@GutsAndGlory734 they were supossed to release me with a cf-98 and a CHIT but DIDN’T so... I didn’t get any compensation or treatment, also Idk how but basicly my shoulder felt super painful and I couldn’t move with it all, this kind of stuff has already happened to me before but when I entered the bmq I was 100% health
So if I want to join navy reserves do u have to do 13 km marches
I am unfamiliar with what the navy does for there reserves but it would be something to ask one of the requirements personal. That will have more answers.
Guys any advice for the aptitude test ? where can you practise best for it and for people who did the test before , what did they focus on more in the test ?
Check out armytest.com and kyra nankivel has made videos on it
The CFAT isn't something to stress about. I did mine in November. It is a test designed to let you pass. If you can order the Canadian Forces aptitude study materials they will make the test much easier. Biggest help I can recommend would be make sure you get enough sleep the night before.
What is the average age of people in the army. Just wondering because I am 17 and starting my BMQ in 2 weeks
Good luck and stick with it.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam thanks you!
If you aint cheating you aint trying
I would like to try and become an MP or work to join jtf.
then pass basic, pass your trades qualification and then apply to CANSOFCOM....prove yourself, then do better
@@bisonturbo oh, I will, and I'm not the type to let anything stop or even slow me down, period, and besides doing pushups in a mud puddle while being drenched in rain with a 50lb backpack then going for a run is something I do for fun.
Why were you waiting a year?
My trade not being needed as well as extra medical stuff for it
In basic training dud u had to go through swimming lessons?
No lessons, just swimming your Ruck across a pool (your ruck floats) not to bad but you should learn to swim before you go if you don’t know how to.
Do they look at your medical history
Yes they do. And they also ask you about it. In my experience
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam can you join the army with adhd
Babos123 Qwe yes you can
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam so can you join the combat arms with adhd
Babos123 Qwe from what I know you could, but it would be up to the medical staff and the army to see. If you lie you won’t get in if you are truthful and up front they will be more pleased as will help you better to get where you want to go and what you want to do.
Is the interview hard?
Not at all, just a lot of questions.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam what did they ask ?
Babos123 Qwe asked about your past, why are you joining, yes or no questions, as well as medical questions
Babos123 Qwe very easy questions to answer.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam what did they ask about your medical
I got my aptitude test coming up any tips?
Get a caf aptitude test book online, it gives you an idea on what will be on the test, it's been a year and a half since I took the test but I know grad 10 math will be on there I think nothing hard
I did my CFAT last month. Get lots of sleep. Relax and remember to breathe. The test isn't all that difficult. Most of the answers will be pretty obvious. I struggled with the spacial awareness section but still managed to pass. Study the guide that OG_Halo recommended and you will be fine.
How long did the application process take for you
For me it was a little over a year from start of application to going off to basic, due to my trade not being in demand and extra medical I had to do for it
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam avionics tech?

In the medical what do they look at
It’s like a doctors appointment.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam do they look at your bones , symmetry etc.
Babos123 Qwe they do not buy they do ask if you have broken any in the last 2-3 year if I can recall. The medical is very easy and it’s not something to worry about.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam do you mean but
What is medical file review
It’s just a review of your medical file made by the military after you have done the medical with the military. It’s just them looking at it and putting it on your Military file. The medical stuff is easy and nothing to really worry about.
@@DuncanDaysTH-cam what do they check really in file review? Because it takes like 2-3 weeks
