Mike's vids are what convinced me to take the leap into getting a Lewitt LCT 440 Pure in concert with a dbx-286s. I use it for live streaming and get lots of compliments both for the sound and the appearance on camera. These mics are extremely well thought out and feel super solid, and your magnetic pop filter works great without getting in the way. Can't wait to get a higher end model someday. :)
@@thebrigandier I also own a 440 Pure, for Podcast and Narration, thanks to Mike's reviews. I'm from Austria and I think it's brilliant that a company here is able to build such good quality. Honestly a testament to AKG's heritage - but much more modern and innovative. The 440 is my goto - but honstly, the 1040 is now my microphone of choice, i don't want a Neumann U87 anymore - i want the 1040 ... sigh
Hey Mike! Just wanted to say I learned to set up my Voice Over DAW, equipment, and start recording by watching you. Now I have books lined up till April, and they’re best sellers. Great video, and thank you for all you do!
Out of my league but I am the proud and delighted owner of an LCT 240 and a LCT540 s. The Lewitt LCT microphone series produce the most beautiful transparent sound at any price point. Truly wonderful tools!
I really admire that Lewitt is making unique microphones without necessarily trying to fit a niche or emulate a certain sound. An engineer friend of mine turned me onto them a few years back when I did a session recording music at another studio. I was so used to seeing the same few microphones everywhere ... you NEED an SM57 and 121 to record guitar amps, you NEED a U47 for vocals, you NEED a U87 for VO, you NEED D112s and 421s for drums, you NEED 414's for piano ... I've never really subscribed to that mindset (I've done most of my work in project studios) and it was nice to see some different tools put to use in the real world. Thanks for the demo!! While this mic is outside of my price bracket, I would love to add a proper tube mic to my locker eventually, I'll keep this on my list if I ever make that jump.
All these videos! Proud of how far you've come. Also, my wife says she can listen to you all day even though she has no idea what you're talking about.
This is a seriously impressive microphone setup! Lewitt has done a great job. Perhaps we will start seeing this microphone integrated in more voice over studios alongside the standard U87s.
Glad to see they put the pop filter farther away from the microphone. The one they have on most are too close to be the most effective _(they themselves proved this in one of their videos),_ which is too bad, cause it's incredibly handy to have it mount like it does and just be out of the way. I wonder if they will update the pop filters for their other microphones.
One Mic to rule them all….pretty much sums up this amazing piece of equipment. I cant believe all the options this comes with…the price point is jaw dropping, but justified. I’m putting this high on my to ‘work towards list’. Thank you for this fantastic video, Mr. Junkie!👏🏽🥇
I subscribed to this channel because I was looking for a mic. I liked hearing the sounds from different microphones, as it is pleasing to me ears. Eventually he inspired me to buy a linear PCM recorder. I still use it today. I also learned how important sound treatment is. This is one of the few channels that you actually get to hear practical sound advice from a professional. I wish there were more channels like it. And I'm glad I subscribed. Respect, man...
Great review, Mike; thank you! I freaked out a little when you showed the remote. I think that’s pretty brilliant. It’s possible this mic has replaced the U87 as my dream mic.

Looking at how long it take to switch some settings and modes, I'm going to say there is some magic effects dust going on, this is just not how analogue things work.
Just found your channel and absolutely LOVING this. What advice would you give people who want to start the process of getting into voice-over work. Is there a specific "type" of voice that you would need or can it be learned/practiced? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Again, LOVE this channel and digging all of the great content!!!

Thanks for another engaging and informative review! Regarding your comments that the overall tube effect could be less subtle; back in the day the conventional wisdom about tube mics was that for best results you needed to let them warm up for at least an hour before using them. Some older Abbey Road engineers say that in the 50s and 60s they never even unplugged their u47's, because they used them so routinely and always wanted them at the ready. I don't know if you did let the mic warm up or how long the video took to produce, but It could be interesting to note if there was any audible difference if the mic was switched on for an hour or so before use. Thanks again for your videos and all the best!
Thanks for this extensive review! The LCT 1040 is a marvel of technology. It's amazing what they do in Austria! I agree, though, that the effects are too subtle to warrant the hefty price tag. In a sense it is a real Lewitt mic. Well built, but always a tad clinical in its sound. BTW my ultimate microphone is the Gefell M930 Ts. I'm a voice talent like you, and I only need a quiet mic that flatters my voice. The Gefell fits the bill perfectly.
you should have mentioned the price at the end of the video, you killed my enthusiasm from the get go... 😂 I guess I am living with my plug-ins for much longer.
In my ears the FET mode of the mic was far too harsh with your sibilance, but the warm and dark modes just put enough of a tweak on that to make it enjoyable. Unfortunately my ears are far too crude to be able to appreciate and describe any specific qualities of the sound other than that. :(
I absolutely agree with the sibilance comment. The moment he started taking into the mic I was immediately turned off. There was something tinny & metalic about the higher end of this mic. I've notice a similar issue the AKG-C414, which I used for a few months but eventually went back to my old mic.
Well done and thoughtful video MIke! I can't imagine I will ever have the budget for something like this - but it is great when a company pushes the limits and makes things happen beyond what has been seen before. Again as somebody who will never probably own one of these, a proprietary cable is a disappointment in theory. I don't know jack about cables and why it would need to be proprietary (so if it has to be then I can understand that) - but that is a pretty huge potential point of failure with catastrophic consequences on a product that is otherwise very well focused on the needs of the consumer/user. But speaking of thoughtful - your review and information is the pinnacle of thoughtful!
When I'm putting the mic into the shock mount it is very very snug. Too snug. And when I am clamping it in place, I have to use force. Too much force. Is this a production issue, or can this be adjusted?
Thanks for the brilliant review. I was certain that my next mic would be the LCT940 (not that I believe you’ve reviewed that one), because of the adjustable FET/TUBE controller and the configurable polar patterns … but now…?
I currently own a LCT 940 for 7 plus years. I will say this. I dont look forward to buying another mic or care wht other brands has to offer. This mic is irreplaceable.

First off let me Begin by saying you’re a genius when it comes to microphones dude Second off I royally pisses me off that you’re NOT compensated Now let’s be real You work hard on your videos right? You put a lot of time and effort into them? Of course you do and I understand that because I make videos myself so I know the time and work it takes to create one, on top of that you’re educating people on so many things. So all the work you put, the time and energy for THIS company as well as others and you mean to tell me they can’t let you keep the mic? Regardless of the cost the make plenty of them and I highly doubt they would be hard pressed to let you keep it, I mean I just don't see them goin bankrupt over letting you keep that microphone or other they may hav Sent you. I think it's disgusting how greedy these companies can be sometimes Now maybe I’m being a little to passionate but that’s just me, I hate that they send you a mic to “use” then you gotta send it back? For them to do what with it? Repackage it? Give to a friend? I mean come on man. I apologize but it does get under my skin seeing you are probably one of, if not the BEST TH-cam microphone reviewer yet, you break down every little detail, on every video and explain in Greta detail on top of that and they can’t let you keep a microphone 🤦🏻 Really not kool of them, especially seeing how much you like and enjoyed it, they could’ve at least gave you a major discount or something and maybe they did idk I could be wrong but in my opinion, you should get it for free dude Period You make great videos and I respect you 🫡
For VO? U87AI gets my vote :) but I'm running a TLM-103 at the moment, and my buddies that dub anime from home haven't upgraded from that... so maybe it's an opinion/use-case/personal taste conversation at that point?
If only it didn't have that Gaming PC asthetic. Truly a hideous microphone that sounds great. I'd be slightly concerned with reliability with so many moving parts. I'll stick with my Gefell M930 ts for now :))
Lewitt seems to have a quality control problem. I know a few people that bought there most expensive mics and so many of them had to get replaced. Imagine spending 2200.00 for a mic and run into problems in the first hour. It seems for the cheaper mics there is still a few problems but the return is much greater on the more expensive mics. So buyer beware before you buy..
Thanks for your comment, Daryl. We always strive to provide the best products and quality possible and provide great service. In the few cases when there is an issue with one of our microphones, and whenever it makes sense, products are replaced without a big fuss. You, as our former distributor, know this, of course. For me, it would probably be one of three choices because of my financial budget, the Shure SM57; the Electro-Voice RE320; or the Audio-Technica AT-2020. One thing these all have in common is that they are built like tanks.
Can't justify a $3500 mic, but maybe some day. :) For now, I'm exceedingly happy with my LCT 440 Pure.
For around 3500 EUR I think I‘ll stay with my Neumann U87 AI and Sennheiser MKH416 for about the same price
Very cool.
I was near to stop the video after the price ))
don't need it..don't need it..don't need it..want it..want it..want it :) Damn it's as good looking as it is sounding.
First off let me Begin by saying you’re a genius when it comes to microphones dude
Second off I royally pisses me off that you’re NOT compensated
Now let’s be real
You work hard on your videos right? You put a lot of time and effort into them? Of course you do and I understand that because I make videos myself so I know the time and work it takes to create one, on top of that you’re educating people on so many things. So all the work you put, the time and energy for THIS company as well as others and you mean to tell me they can’t let you keep the mic? Regardless of the cost the make plenty of them and I highly doubt they would be hard pressed to let you keep it, I mean I just don't see them goin bankrupt over letting you keep that microphone or other they may hav Sent you. I think it's disgusting how greedy these companies can be sometimes
Now maybe I’m being a little to passionate but that’s just me, I hate that they send you a mic to “use” then you gotta send it back? For them to do what with it? Repackage it? Give to a friend? I mean come on man. I apologize but it does get under my skin seeing you are probably one of, if not the BEST TH-cam microphone reviewer yet, you break down every little detail, on every video and explain in Greta detail on top of that and they can’t let you keep a microphone 🤦🏻
Really not kool of them, especially seeing how much you like and enjoyed it, they could’ve at least gave you a major discount or something and maybe they did idk I could be wrong but in my opinion, you should get it for free dude
Period
You make great videos and I respect you 🫡
3500!? My MacBook M1 Max was cheaper haha! Yea, if this isn't the ultimate microphone, which one is it?
Anyone here who heard any difference on a mobile? I couldn't hear much of a difference on a OnePlus 9 Pro.
In any case, we are happy to answer any questions regarding our products and quality control.

Why would you need an ilok for a microphone? 🙄
