Thank you for this. I discovered Fastway at about the age of 12 after watching Trick or Treat and it blew my mind. That film and those records always stuck with me. I felt like Skippy in that movie when I was in middle and high school and Trick or Treat and Fastway's music spoke to me the way nothing else ever has. Rock on, dude.
Fantastic video, David. Fast Eddie Clarke is in my top 10 guitarist list, and those first two Fastway albums were on heavy rotation back in the day. Still listening to them today 🤘
Hello David. The opening riff, Misunderstood, kinda sounds like Ted Nugent’s, “Free for All.” “Say What You Will” is my favorite Fastway jam. That last double guitar riff, I was imagining as I listened, how my guitar solo would sound during that riff. 🎸🤘🏼👍🏻
I’m 64-1/2 now & spent my “ Formative years “ living literally across the street from a strip club. Needless to say my buddies & I spent a considerable amount of spare time & money playing pool , drinking beers , taking in the surroundings and listening to all the popular strip club tunes of that era . Fast way was played quite frequently there ( The In -spot , in Lemon Grove California) 😎👍. Sad to say that club is Long gone but my memories and this music will live on forever. Thanks as Always David for your incredible enthusiasm and sharing your passion. C-ya next episode dude . 😉
I associate Fastway with Say What You Will but that's because it's always on the local radio when im at work ! Metal Month continues let er rip David 👏👍🤘🎸🎸
Wicked addition to Metal Month Dave!! Thank you so much for covering this Band and movie and its always awesome to hear your personal insights and stories...Rock On Dude!! and always looking forward to your next vid 💯👌🔥☠️🔥☠️🤘🤘
This is so cool. After all of these years I only knew of the first album and the Trick Or Treat soundtrack, which I have both. I have some searching to do.
Pete was forced out of the Fastway project by Chrysalis(?). He was still under contract that he signed to in UFO. So Pete ended up putting Waysted together to satisfy that obligation. I love those first three Fastway albums. They had great chemistry.
I love that 'Misunderstood' riff, very cool. I really only remember 'Say What You Will' from Fastway, I should go back and listen to them again. Thanks David. Could I request some Budgie lessons?
I think yr right about the open E5 voicing etc in “Heft”. You hear those chord voicings in late 70’s Rush a lot, then later on from Jerry Cantrell/Alice In Chains, esp the song “Would?” Edit: but tuned down to D in AIC of course
I saw Fastway in ‘84, they were first on the bill w/ Ozzy and Motley Crue. I was 16 at that point and sick of what passed for “metal”. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest just didn’t cut it for me anymore so I started hanging out in the hardcore scene in NYC. Luckily that’s where I first heard Slayer, Celtic Frost and Metallica and found my tribe. The hardcore kids were all a bunch of thugs anyway. Ha ha ha! Just kidding. (But in Manhattan circa 1984/85/86, it was kinda true)
Talk about underrated, enter Brian Tatler from Diamond Head, he made riffs so cool that Metallica has recorded, lets say a dozen of their songs. Y'all have heard 'Am I Evil', right ? If it's good enough for Lars and James, it should be good enough for everybody who is into groovy, heavy riffs. And Tatler does play lead too.
I’ve been asking for Brother Cane Damon Johnson for about a year now. And this is the month! They did a Halloween Soundtrack. Please! Brother Cane, BREADMAKER, And Fools Shine On, Got No Shame, etc. great songwriter and hired Gun. Look him up!!
Strange Brewster rules and all other guitar players are hosers eh!!! take off eh!!! Do a series where you cover like Captain Beefheart and call if Strange Brewster riff series or like Tom Waits amazing guitar players!!!
They and a lot of other hard rock bands WERE heavy metal back then… imo too many sub genres and folks way too uptight about having to give a specific name to this or that… Maiden was metal, Priest was metal… so was Y&T and Dokken back then… and today everyone is so quick to down tune 🙄.. way more originality back then.
"Give it some action" and "Another day" from the 1st album was brutal. The album still holds up to this day. Still sounds fresh.
We become one and Heft are classics off the First Album
Nice that someone finally recognizes Fastway!! I still have my original Fastway & All Fired Up cassette tapes!!
Fastway and Coney Hatch warming up for Maiden in 83 was my first concert🎸
Say What You Will was like a right of passage for me and my friends when we were learning how to play the riffs we loved.

Always loved ‘after midnight’. Great rock tune!
I've stated this before on TH-cam... Fast Eddie is the reason I like Motorhead.
Obviously the first 6 albums.
very special thank you for this one dave! ❤

I bought ALL FIRED UP but was let down vs their debut myself.
I associate Fastway with Say What You Will but that's because it's always on the local radio when im at work ! Metal Month continues let er rip David 👏👍🤘🎸🎸
Thats some cool stuff 😎 Fastway is , and I'll say it, underrated.

The First Fastway Album is killer and the the Trick or Treat Soundtrack
Fantastic! Always look forward to your new posts.🤘

This is so cool. After all of these years I only knew of the first album and the Trick Or Treat soundtrack, which I have both. I have some searching to do.

Say what you will, is a great riff for learning

Time to throw in some RAMJAM Riffs.
Dave King has totally denounced his time in Fastway...
Is it just me? But I hear a lot or early JP and Def Leppard riffs.
🤯
We need chordplay of Dangerous Toys

True! If memory serves me correct it was all called hard rock. Metal was a term coined a bit later. But it was all the same.
