I used to have a shaved head, and when it got to the "fluffy" state friends would request I perform this (and sometimes random strangers - but it usually started out with them trying to guess "whose look" I reminded them of). I can also do the backwards portion of the main 'chorus' of Missy Elliott's "Work It" - I have bizarre talents when it comes to rap.
I think the joke of the song is that Natalie Portman is an actress who doesn't really get into many controversies. So this rap is sort of telling the "real" story that she is actually gangsta. In other words had it been Lindsay Lohan doing this Rap, it wouldn't have been as funny.
@@RICHIEV333 I commented this separately in the thread: The best part about this rap (which she certainly must have contributed to) was when a short while later the celebrity rags tried to "break" the story that *Natalie Portman Did Drugs in College!!* Everyone just looked at those on the shelf, laughed and were like, "Yeah, we all heard her. That rap was badass."
And if I remember, when this came out it was right around when Garden State had come out and she had every guy looking at her like the perfect manic pixie dream girl girlfriend who would save them from their issues and problems. I think trying to de-typecast her is where the "And all the dudes, you know I'm looking at you" part and really the whole rap comes from. Then she went from playing the perfect quirky girlfriend to her role in Closer playing a cheating strip dancer. Think she's managed to find more balance in all the years since then.
These songs are 12 years apart. Andy Samberg refers to this in the second song when he says "It's been 12 long years." You can definitely tell by the difference in the styles of rap.
This reaction is 12 years apart, the amount of times he stopped the video. I dont think he can actually have any idea how it even goes watching it in 5 second bursts with 30 second gaps.
There's lots of Eazy-E references in this one. That "No More Questions" line is straight from an Eazy song. The "We love you Natalie...I want to (eff) you too!", call and response is straight from Eazy-E as well. When this came out, rap fans got the humor on every level. This was genius and Natalie Portman was the rare SNL guest host who had the persona to pull this off.
When this came out, the timing was perfect. She was barely out of the stage of being a child actor, and into the stage of "actress for children". So the shock value added ot the pretty good talent involved, making it so real, was just perfect.
This was recorded and released in 2018. She already had an two kids, 8yrs and 1yrs when this was released. The original (1.0) rap was from 2008 though and you're 100% correct that she was coming out of that Child Star realm.
@@sventharfatman what do you think I was talking about? I saw this in 2007 actually. I remember because Iit was before I joined the Army. Unless my brain is fried. Which is always possible.Definatley not 2018.

She was always known to be like a perfectly safe and innocent actress that was always wholesome.. like Padme from Star Wars. The juxtaposition of her being an actually psycho bitch in real life is hilarious. Especially since nobody would ever ever expect anything bad from her, let alone this extreme insanity. :D That's the joke of the song. I bet she had a lot of fun letting loose a lot of pent up frustration and going wild in this.
It just hit me that this is also a reference to Easy E's song no more ?s. Where the scenario is that he is also being interviewed and saying "I'm not Mr nice guy".
If I remember right, it was Natalie Portman who went out of her way to develop a specific public persona to discourage sexual thoughts or discussions about her after getting traumatized by fan mail for a role she played as a *child*. It was mostly focused around being bookish and respectable, but ended up also being a little unnerving to many, apparently.
I've just started watching your content. You have a fun way of reacting that is totally different. Very enjoyable. I think it is time you take the dive into reacting to the band "Clown Core." They are bizarre, avant-garde, but dang it if they aren't insanely talented. Their music is so technical and at the same time seems completely ridiculous. At times you will be thinking, "what is this insanity" and then think "how are they this good." It would be interesting to see your reaction to them. Suggested starting songs for you to listen to: "Hell", "Computers", and/or "Earth".
First comment after watching several of your vids. I love your approach and the videos you select. Being tongue in cheek with the comedy, but serious with the musical content reflects a sophisticated understanding of the content you are reviewing in general. Kudos and keep on rockin! 😁🖖
Another kind of crazy i think you'd like is Billy Eichner's "Billy on the street" i wouldn't put it in the same category as this but every episode is full on madness and it's hilarious
Hi Mr Lboyd thanks for your TH-cam channel and showing such different styles of music videos and allowing different parts of society reach out to each other through your channel without judgement I hope you and your family have a great Christmas
Lol, Natalie went harder than all modern day rappers. I hope she and Eminem never beef, she'd be a worthy and savage opponent. The battle would probably end with them hooking up though, haha.
You should check out the Lonely Island song Incredibad. Not too many people have heard that one (probably because there's no official video) it's a shame too it's...memorable.
As you are one of the very best music reviewers on TH-cam, I can't begin to tell you how much it would mean to me if you listened and reacted to my favourite songwriter/artist of the late 60's early 70's, Nick Drake. He suffered badly from depression and died from an overdose of the anti-depressant, amitriptyline aged 26. It has never been resolved whether it was accidental or a suicide. He had amazing talent as a songwriter and I would be forever grateful if you would give us all your thoughts on one of his songs. My number #1 song has to be River Man. So PLEASE make this old man(68) happy and keep up with the great work!
I love watching your reactions been watching a ton. This may be weird but the videos that bring a sublime smile to your face are my favorite. Hey There Delilah by plain white Ts, Billie Eillish Sallies Song. The ones that warm your heart get me cause the songs hit me the same
Uhg, please no to 'Hey There Delilah.' I took my then GF on a trip to Cali to visit her family for her birthday in 2008. 30 something hour drive and I swear that damn song came on the radio (across multiple stations during the trip from Oklahoma to SoCal) at least a dozen times. If I never hear it again it will be too soon.
Sorry! take the comment from the second video and apply it to this one - I had not seen the second one. Everyone was always talking about her wholesomeness, it feels like the expectations of her being a role model when she went to Harvard, expected to behave a certain way because she's Israeli and they have different standards in Israeli culture then they have an American culture and she was treading a fine line... He reminds me of Miley Cyrus coming out of Hannah Montana.
Natalie Portman is hilarious. Her full-throated enthusiasm in this video is infectious.
I used to have a shaved head, and when it got to the "fluffy" state friends would request I perform this (and sometimes random strangers - but it usually started out with them trying to guess "whose look" I reminded them of).

Yeah I was thinking this as I watched like god damn she put in 110

Actually...
Same vibe as the Wayne Brady Chapelle Show sketch, yeah.
@@searchingfororion Oh really, has she recently gotten into a controversy?

At this rate, in 2150ish we will have a Natalie Portman's first full rap album.

You can tell by how short her hair is, how close this was to the production of V for Vendetta. This one is a classic.
Fun fact: this sketch is actually a bonus feature on the _V for Vendetta_ Blu-ray.

this whole song is basically a re-imagining of the Eazy-E song No More Questions.

This was right after V for Vendetta when her head was shaved, that's why her hair is so short. So 2005/2006.
The uncensored version is definitely better. It’s definitely one of my favorites to come out of SNL.
She’s one of my favorite people because of these videos. And Leon the professional.

I wish you saw these in order. This was the skit that made people realise she wasn't just the girl from Star Wars prequels.
It just hit me that this is also a reference to Easy E's song no more ?s. Where the scenario is that he is also being interviewed and saying "I'm not Mr nice guy".
This is one of the many reasons why she is AWESOME!

So glad you found the magic of Lonely Island...
LAZY SUNDAY because it's the first(and best in my opinion). More recently, Finest Girl is hilarious.

Haha Adam is hysterical in this too. He doesn't have to do much but I'll be damned if he doesn't nail what ever it is he does video.

SNL
Season?.
I love this song
I haven't heard this in so long. I forgot about it.
This first one is much better than the second
This is the best one!
It's Saturday Night Live. It's normal for them to take a guest and have them do something, nobody would expect.
NEW ERB BOYD.. LETS GET IT

Lol at your shocked reaction.

I love hearing your reactions to Lonely Island and you trying to make the vulgarity more pg13.... I need more of that hahaha
