Totally can relate to your home situation. I am 27 and I put in offers on 7 houses/condos before I finally got my house. My heart was crushed when I didn't get house #5, I was in love, I knew it was meant to be my house. BUT my house now is literally a dream come true and even better than all the others. What is meant for you will come to you!!
apartment hunting, especially during the holidays, is the WORST! also this co-op sounds super shitty anyways. blessings that you didn't end up being connected to them in any way. sending you lots of love and positive energy that you eventually find the perfect place!

Don’t give up. I bought my first home eight years ago because, like you, I saw that I could pay less than I was paying for rent. I took a first time homebuyer’s course, read books, and none of it prepared me for the stress of buying a home. I had to learn by just going through the process. I’m positive you’ll find the home that’s just right for you soon.
I searched for houses for a year before landing the right one. And I, lust like you, got emotionally attached to all the ones I lost. I was visualizing my furniture and how I would decorate. I learned very quickly not to do that! Just know that when you find the one that's meant for you, no one will be able to take it away from you. It's their loss, not yours. They probably would have made you life miserable anyway. Good luck with your search and try to have fun with it! 😊

Ugh Sam I totally understand what you're going through!! Buying is one of the most frustrating things to go through. My husband and I were searching for our first home (both 25yrs old) and it took over a year to finally get one. We got attached to several, made offers, was heartbroken time and time again! Trust when I say, things happen for a reason and when you finally find your home, it will be 100% worth the wait!

i got through 3 not so great inspections on houses, so i understand how disappointing it can be, especially since the rental market is even worse cost-wise. i was so attached to my last one because it was everything i wanted. just a sign for me to stop the search for now & hopefully start again next year. you will definitely find something when it’s meant to be!

Hang in there Samantha! When we moved from Cali to Colorado we put in offers for more than 5 houses that were all outbid. I was so frustrated as we were desperately trying to find our forever home and temporarily living in a ONE bedroom home sleeping on blow up mattresses (family of 4). I got so frustrated and just started scouring the Internet for all homes and came across the house we got- it was even better than ALL the other houses we “loved”. I walked in and immediately fell in love and was SO relieved all the other houses fell through. I truly believe things happen for a reason and your dream apartment is waiting for you. Hugs your way…..
Age shouldn’t be a factor when trying to purchase anything. As long as you can afford it that should be everything. I’m sure you’ll find something better down the road. I’d advise you look into other fashions of owning your first place but since I don’t know your personal all I’ll say is keep an open mind as to what your first place will be!

Feel your pain, definitely a Sellers market rn, wanted to buy a house and putting in offered they wanted $2,000-$5,000 for due diligence fees, few hundred for application fees, covering closing costs, appraisals, housing inspection all just for being interested lol. I decided I’m going to wait another year or two see where the market is, I wasn’t willing to lose almost 10k JUST for looking into a house I may not even be able to buy if it fails inspection or I decide I don’t want that one after all.

Sorry if I ask a dumb question as we don’t have this kind of process where I live (Canada) when buying a condo you need to have board interviews, but is there no condo’s for sale that does not require a board interview? I find people on any type of board to just be power hungry!!
So sorry to hear about the apartment. I find it so strange how it works in the states but I'm guessing it's like a condo? I bought a condo but didn't have to be accepted by the board but now I'm regretting it. The sell prices have gone down and ppl are getting less and less for asking price and we've had to throw so much money into this place with elevators breaking down and now a boiler replacement. Over 6k because they don't know how to manage our reserve fund properly. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise! You'll find the perfect place for you!

That’s so strange! I live in the UK and I’ve just purchased my first home (on my own) at the age of 27 with no issues! I bought a two bedroom house, I have a decent wage from my job and it went through smoothly!

Hi Sam. Sorry for what happened to you. I don't know if,anyone has ever said this before but once a realtor told me not to buy a Co-Op because you really own a share of the building but whatever works for you. If you wanted to I would say look into a Condo where there may not be board approval involved(I own one and only renters have to go through that). Good luck your search! Availability is tough out there!

That sucks! I'm sorry to hear that you went through all that. The housing market is insane right now. I have a friend who paid $400k for a house that was initially listed for $300k. He was outbid so many times it kept driving the price up, and he's just stubborn and refused to concede. His mortgage is a lot more than my rent, though. And yeah, TV is definitely not the field to get into if you want weekends and holidays off 😞

So sorry to hear about your apartment situation, Sam. I have heard horror stories about co-ops, myself, and your experience just confirms I should stay as far away as possible. It is particularly unfair that you are out a significant amount of money when THEY turned YOU down for no verifiable reason, not you just decided to walk away. I like the context you used about God's rejection = redirection, though. I was turned down for a promotion recently that I thought I was well qualified for, thought I did really well in the final interview, etc., and no one will give me a concrete answer why (tell me what area/s I should work on, etc.). I'm continuing to apply for other opportunities and trying to have faith the universe knows what it's doing. :-) Have a wonderful holiday season with your family, and best of luck for finding the perfect new home in early 2022!

Were you trying to buy an apartment building with multiple units to be a landlord or just to buy your own individual apartment? I didn't know you could buy individual apartments. Was it more like a condo or townhouse?

Welcome to life 😕. Me and my friend were rejected to RENT a condo when we were both 26 and the agent straight up said it was due to age. People just don’t trust young people in keeping a place well kept or payments paid on-time and in full. It’s really a shame if you’ve got the income and credit score to back it up. Oh well, best of luck onto the next!! Connecticut is also a bitch to deal with so yeah 🤦🏻♂️
Ugh, apartment searching left me on and off the streets and staying with friends for 4 months trying to find a place I could take my dog. Ended having to give her away. Hope she's happy with the new family though.
