At 17.00 Sethi Saab says Supreme court will not go against Indian majority. Wrong. This not how SC functions in India. SC will have no objection because-
A) Article 370 is ammended and not abrogated.
B) it is amended is same way as it was added, by presidential order. If court overules it,it means it's addition to constitution in 1952 was also fraud. So SC will not over rule it. Section 1 of article 370 still remains, which says POK is also part of J&K.

This masterstroke is in benefit for everyone involved. Pakistan had done something similar in 1984 when it allowed the Punjabis to move into Gilgit-Baltistan and acquire farmhouses and what not. Pakistan has completely changed the demography of the region and India is doing the same 35 years later!

As you can see India only has a small part of Kashmir with it (green) and the majority of Kashmir (GB and AK) is with Pakistan. We have been fighting with each other over this small part of the land for so long. Let's end this 70 year feud and make LOC as the International boundary.

I don't usually support the BJP but this was a good step. It will better integrate Kashmir with India and benefit the Kashmiri economy as well. Hopefully this will help us improve relations with Pakistan also.

@@nomoresunnydays8160 I understand that sentiment but granting them autonomy had just made things worse and the status quo was hurting everybody. No matter how much autonomy you grant them, some Kashmiris would still ask for 'Azadi' and even if you gave 'Azadi' they would still blame India for their problems. The autonomy aproach failed and backfired. Things may turn worse now but I think over decades intigration will be better for everybody.

Kashmiris had got undue special status just because of being Muslim. Also they managed to take more seats in assembly than proportion of their population wrt Jammuband Ladakh such that power always remained with Muslim Kashmir and took full advantage in terms of political power, jobs education funds etc.
35A which decided citizenship was backdated to before partition so as to deny hindus and sikhs who migrated during partition to Jammu their citizenship of Jammu and Kashmir.

I differ from Sethi Sahab Creating UT out of the state of J&K doesn’t mean that India has accepted LOC as an international border. India still claims POK. POK was attacked and illegally occupied by Pakistan in October 1947. It is when Maharaja Hari Singh decided to take help of India to prevent Pakistan from engulfing the complete state of J&K. India instead of repelling the tribal occupying forces on its own, went to UN for help, which did the ceasefire. From that point onward, the status quo maintained.
Abrogating 370 does not change UN resolution. Kindly note that the chronological order of events is 1. Attack of Pakistan on J&K and Illegal occupation of the territory. 2. J&K agreeing to accede to India. 3. UN resolution on Kashmir. 4. Introduction of 370 as a temporary provision in Indian constitution.
UN resolution and its clauses are very much intact, along with Shimla agreement and Lahore declaration, even after suspension of article 370 and 35A.
Kindly note that India signed the UN resolution when constitution was still not ready and the federal structure of India was still undecided.
Talks are the only way to solve the unresolved boundary issues bilaterally.
Within few days India will push for bilateral talks with a precondition that cross border terror must stop first.
Till such time Pakistan has to engage itself in both eastern and western front.
Cost of war or even a small air skirmish like post Balakot, would be too heavy, may be in the tune of 200-400 million dollars per day. For how many days a economy which has taken IMF loan of 6000 million dollars for 3 years can sustain it ?
