Great video, enjoyed learning about this and the Williams engine. Enjoyed the creativity in your videos and your detailed description. Love the night shots at the end!! Keep the videos rolling!
Great video. I don't think you'll find a model rail enthusiast who doesn't have a soft spot for the Hudson. Beautiful engine. Your layout is great looking as well!
I have the same exact locomotive . It’s currently apart on my work bench. The connection between the engine and the tender became frayed and two of the four wires broke. So I was in the process of replacing the connection with a new style molex connector. I then decided to replace the electronics with Lionel TMCC which I purchased at a show. It’s a great looking full scale engine and pulls like an animal. Good luck with yours it looks mint and sounds like you got a good deal on it. I will tell you use extra caution disconnecting the engine from the tender as the connecter seems to be fragile. And too much use can damage it. I also found the wires to be very thin. Somewhere around 22 gauge or possibly thinner. By the way that’s a terrific looking layout you have there
Thank you for the comment, I'll definitely make note of those wires! The connection between the loco and tender is pretty good at the moment because this engine wasn't used too much, but I can see how over time the wires could be weakened. Thanks for watching and glad you like the layout!
Very nice locomotive. Williams is a great alternative if you just want the locomotive and your not worried about haveing a collector. I like how Williams locomotives always start out going forward. Good job here Cory. Ken
Thanks for the comment Ken! I love how the Williams stuff is just a continuation of old school Lionel tooling, so I'll definitely keep my eyes out for more!
Thank you Steve, hope you're doing well my friend! Not sure if you've been to the Amherst show before but I was hoping you might tag along with RJ when he went! Hopefully I can get down there this year, I'd love to bring some stuff to run!
Great video. I had one of those scale Williams Hudsons. One of the smoothest running engines I had. I'm sorry I sold it when I had to downsize my collection. Enjoy it.
Hi Corey, it was really great to meet you at Amherst and chat with you. I did see RJ and Chris of Chris's Tarins and Things and chatted with both. As always, a great video explaining your recent purchase. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much for saying hi GBRtrains I really appreciate it! Glad you got to see RJ and Chris too! Like I said to you at the show, I don't think I was even there for 30 seconds before someone said hi hahaha. Thank you for the nice words!
I guess you could say I am lol. I hear a lot of people say the Hudson is the pinnacle of steam, and the more I run this fella the more I agree haha. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you Berk!! Was great meeting you too at the train show, it was one of my most memorable moments there lol! Glad ya like it and hope to see ya sometime when the weather's a bit warmer!
The Williams Scale Hudson Is a Great alternative to the more expensive models of Lionel or MTH. I remember first seeing them in the Williams 1995 catalog along with their Masterpiece series brass Hudson with sound at 1500 dollars . The original Price for the Diecast models were 650 dollars. I am glad Bachman continued these scale models. I have also seen the Scale Hudson In other Road Names. Sounds like you got a great deal on your 773.
Thanks for the comment Richard!! Seems Williams has some great alternatives out there which I'll definitely consider, especially at their lower prices!
The interesting thing about Williams in the old days was "suggested retail" prices in their catalogs were typically strictly that. You could find new Williams products at train shows selling for considerably less than that. I remember purchasing a Williams Jersey Central GP9 in 2014 for $145 when the suggested was $269.
Excellent video! I’ve been looking for a scale Hudson to add to my collection as well. Ended up getting a Lionel 5340 from 1990 and LOVE it so far. Fantastic puller and looks great, too.
Very Nice! I didn’t know that there was a Polish Community Center! Williams really did a Nice Job with the red light bulb in the Cab of the 773. The proper Name of this locomotive is actually the J1E
Congratulations Corey, that's a great looking engine! Yeah, I'm still plenty PO'd at Bachman buying Williams and then apparantly not knowing what to do with it. What a shame. I'm with you, the first time I saw an actual 1/48 scale steam engine at a train show I was shocked at how big it was! However my layout's too small for scale steamers but I can live with that, look at the money I save! And right, for pure value it's hard to beat a Williams product. Luckily there's still quite a few around and with collector interest practically zero the prices tend to be pretty reasonable. And if you want you can upgrade the Williams standard steam whistle sound package very easily with a steam sound package from ERR by 3d Rail. ERR's are a bit pricy but the quality's excellent. And don't let anyone tell you you're being non-prototypical pulling freight with a Hudson, toward the end of the steam era the NYC certainly did use Hudsons on freight. First, last, and always it's "Power for the run!" I like that 48 star flag in the background, a nice salute to the Post-War Era! Thanks for posting!
Thank you for the nice words like always Wayne, its too bad Williams doesn't do nearly what they used too. I always like seeing their stuff at train shows, especially at the cheaper price. I have a few friends who've used ERR so I might check it out further down the road.
@@RsTrainsonYT Oh yeah, I remember the old days at train shows with racks and racks of Williams products, all from different exhibitors and at great prices. Good times!
Thank you for showing that Lionel is not the only game in town. Inflation and the decay of the dollar. Forces Lionel’s price is up. But Lionel’s prices in the last catalog Are inflating to me they compounded the problem nothing for me in this catalog or the last one or the one before that.
I think a lot of people forget all the other O scale / O Gauge alternatives out there, especially buying second hand which I love! Thanks for the comment Michael!
You can’t go wrong with a Williams or Williams By Bachman. They are sooo good and major pullers. Outstanding Find and you are fortunate for sure 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍 That 773 is Beautiful! Congratulations 👍👍
Thanks for the comment RABS! I'm super impressed with the quality behind this engine and some of the other Williams stuff I've been around before, so I'll definitely try to get more in the future! Thank you!
I had an ORIGINAL Lionel from the mid fifties with a great assortment big freight cars and the Bay Window caboose. Cattle car, Horse car, side tilt coal car and others...
Great finish. God Bless You.
Congratulations Corey! Looks and runs great from what I can tell. You finally found one! 👏👏
Glad you made a deal on that engine Corey that thing is 🔥

That is an awesome beautiful engine you have! I’m happy you picked that out to add for your collection!
Thank you Matt, all I need is some matching NYC heavyweights!
Hey! I've been watching and enjoying your channel for a long time! You sure have grown! Keep going! Your content is great😀. Thanks friend
I've been watching this Corey guy too, I can't even remember the first time I saw him 😉?! Thanks for the kind words I appreciate it!
Great video. I don't think you'll find a model rail enthusiast who doesn't have a soft spot for the Hudson. Beautiful engine. Your layout is great looking as well!
Thank you Colton! I know right, I don't know anyone who dislikes a Hudson lol, glad you enjoyed!

That Albany show is always exciting
That's a beautiful engine. Looks like it runs well too.Williams made some great trains. Thanks fir sharing.
Thank you George! Can't wait to add more Williams to the collection as I expand the fleet!

What a great find!! So awesome to see such an iconic loco! It was great to meet you yesterday, hope the trip back up to New York was smooth 🤙

Very cool Hudson, very cool trains

I got two lionel 773 Hudsons. The Century Club 1 model and the 2005 Postwar Celebration Series version.
One of these days how about holding up a sketch of your layout. It is so unique.
Where you been hidin'? Miss your videos.

IS this the same layout that you hade some years ago. Sure looks nice. Dave
Yes it is Dave, just expanded the front a bit since my old videos! Wish I could build more onto it haha. Thanks for the comment!

Cattle car, Horse car, side tilt coal car and others...
All mint with original pristine boxes!!!
