Great vid Liz! I got mine just over a month ago and it was nice to relive my excitement through you in this video. I knew you would react the way you did! It's a very noticeable improvement over stock. I just found your channel recently as I have been modding my 2020 STI and I really enjoy the content - keep it coming!
A good e tune will feel much better over the cobb OTS. I just did one with Torqued Performance and it really woke the car up and it feels much smoother. He requires you to install a fuel stumble fix kit before tuning, but that is super easy to do.
I've been reading up on that. Not sure if that is what I am experiencing in my 21 STI but around 3200-3500 RPM's it feels like some kind of hesitation or stubble and then proceeds to act normal through the rest of the RPM band. At first I was like, hold up, is my clutch slipping at 5k miles. LOL. Nah..
@@13Recon19D is Eric tuning STIs? For some reason I thought he only tuned WRX’s. I will look into the stubble kit and reach out to him. I already have the accessport and the Redline waiting to be installed.
@@TheSwampDonkey yeah he does STI’s. Mine is a 2019. $250. Took about 4 revisions. The car feels like it pulls noticeably harder over the cobb stage 1.
Make sure to update your AP or you may not be able to load the maps onto the car. Mine was pretty new and still had several updates that caused the map to be locked and unusable on the AP until I updated it.
Appreciate the actual sound clips! For some reason whenever people do intake mods they record with the microphone in the engine bay and it completely misrepresents what it sounds like in reality. Looks good too!
That little stalling action after re-tuning your car or unhooking the battery is due to an air/fuel ratio relearning for the ECU, nothing too problematic and should go away shortly.
All those dash lights on example Hill assist, SRH off etc is that ur doing or is it due to the Access Port? Thanks for the vid now i can move forward with intake as well.
No, I actually turned off hill assist, that’s why the light is on. I have aftermarket headlights that got rid of the steering responsive feature, which is why the SRH light is on :)
Why is the "SRH OFF" light flashing? Also noticed an indicator on the top left of the gauge as well. My third Subaru STi (2004, 2015, Type RA). Also third time installing a Cobb intake but this will be first time with the CF one. Cobb has gone a long way from the Cobb V1 that I had for my 2004.
My frend n I decided not to use the bolt that attaches it to the car where the radiator is at, instead we just used the clips to make it easier to remove n reinstall the intake
The OTS tunes are 100% safe as long as you choose the correct maps. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know anything about cars, period. And I suggest they stay off social media. OTS tunes = good to go
Just got my 24' WRX Premium, sadly STI isn't around, though now that I got this one, I'm sure next year STI will return lol, oh well, still loving it! Does any of these mods hurt the warranty? I want to make sure it's broken in before I do anything really to mine. Great video sti liz! love your car! do you know if you got any HP increase from those mods?
Hi Liz, I message you on Instagram but unfortunately you have responded , I just wanted to know if you needed a professional tune after you installed your intake and accessport
NEED HELP GUYS, PLEASE!! planning to get a 2015 wrx sti launch edition with 81k miles on it, do you think its a great purchase?? Need some advice please!!
Cobb has a redline intake specific OTS map. You should probably flash to that. You’re using the non redline OTS tune, Just FYI. Also throttle mapping is different now, no more rev hang that’s why you feel like it’s gonna stall. More linear throttle input.
Not everyone wants a relationship Mason. Which would explain why you’re here, on TH-cam, acting like a child. People of the opposite sex can be just friends.
everyone says get a proper tune. I've been running Cobb Stage1+ OTS for 8k miles. ZERO issues and MUCH better to drive than stock. I say do you and enjoy that set up until it's time for your next upgrade ;)
I would do another performance mod, down pipe prob, one step colder plugs and take it for a pro tune. I wouldn’t go too crazy on the throttle on a OTS map.
@@stiliz. you got great content!! Very informative and you ll keep on growing, you just got into a nice car society. I have been in love with subarus since 04 they are great cars and will last with the right care and good knowledge of how they work
@@stiliz. do you only have the intake and I’m assuming a catback? I jus installed the redline intake and have a Tomei catback but unsure of the map I should use. I want to wait until I have full bolt ons for a tune.

I've never seen OTS tune destroy an engine like some say. Cobb usually runs a bit rich to avoid damage. Pro tune is amazing AFTER you install a few power mods. Or you'll be dumping a lot of money every time you add. I'd say add the Cobb intercooler, charge pipe and coupler (charge pipe to turbo). But, if you want to pro tune sooner, at least get an electronic boost controller and probably a better bypass valve with the tune.
Hey clean STi. :) she sounds way better now. I have a open air filter and it does sound nice..cheers those tailights are nice btw what brand are those?

@@TheSwampDonkey that is absolutely what is happening. It really is a simple install. But you will have to have a tune for it.

Totally recommend the Mach V dock mount for the dash. A bit pricey but its better than the 3D printed ones around the web.
thats what i got
thanks! i’ll check it out! 🤝
Now install all of the supporting mods. IAG AOS, Bigger radiator and Cylinder 4 Cooling mod.
👍🏼👍🏼
It’s a great experience when you start your mod I remember when I bought my STI brand new I had three on my nameless exhaust.
Nothing wrong with appearance mods and keeping the car stock-ish performance wise.

It might be diff on my older Subaru, but I ran a stage 2 OTS from 55k to 167k on my 2011 wrx. Zero issues. Not one!
Wait what,....is it supposed to be crackling and popping with just the SF redline and the Stage1+SF map? I'm just about to do this on my MY17 STi ADM.
What are you going to do for emissions?
jk, its carb. What I really should ask is how is the car running on the ots tune so far?

interesting 🤔
Why is everyone saying the Cobb tune is not safe? I thought that's why they have the off the shelf tune?

Gg to your engine. It’s a ticking time bomb now lol. Especially on cobb’s off the shelve tunes. I recommend getting a pro tune.

Did it start backfiring after the tune? Or did you have that backfire "burble" tune already?
