One of the best things about his videos is that he give realistic time frames. 14 hours to do this for a normal person. I'd like to know that before I commit to making a rug.
Maybe. I think it would be fine if you use a denim or canvas needle and put some tissue paper between the toweling and your sewing foot. Also use a long stitch to accommodate the bulkiness.
A lot of people complaining, but I really like this video. It felt same as a recipe video, only with different materials. David hasn't changed for worse imho
OMG! Thanks for telling how long it took and left me with a belly laugh looking at all that fuzz on your floor. You can be proud of that crafts for years to come.
Well. I've always wanted to make one of those rugs but now I'm completely over it. :D Thanks for showing us the tedious details and the mess it makes. I expected a little of both but had no idea how bad it really was. You have my respect for getting through it!
Such a good tutorial! I watched loads by people who are 'experts', before I got to you. Thank you for breaking it down & keeping it real! Off to buy towels!! 🌟
for someone that does not sew, you did an awesome job....I'm taking my time with mine, but it's good to let folks know how long it takes to do it from beginning to end nonstop. Disclaimer: didn't really care about the camera but if you like it I love it (wink)
David i'm so happy to see you back, i've missed you but i understand why you've been so MIA , i cannot wait to see new vids on this channel i think hope and pray your even more successful with the revamp of this channel here's to more memories more vids food and fun all the best your fan Carrie btw u never fail to make me laugh genuinely thank you
*It will help if you'll wash and dry the towels first. Less lint, less shrinkage, so the rug will still lie flat after washing. *You can buy terry cloth fabric, which would likely cost less than new towels you cut up. *There's a way to cut fabric on the bias from a solid piece so you don't have to sew all the strips together and when you tug on a bias cut, it would naturally roll together for the braiding. *A rotary cutter might be kinder to your hands than scissors. We always had scissors reserved for fabric, and that helps, too.
...whyyy should I go buy a rug when I can clearly buy towels, shred them, stitch them, and spend 14 hours in making this andddd making my entire room look like I butchered chickens there! Awesome! 😏 and this is why I love this guy!
I absolutely love you! You are a real person doing diy bath mat and showing your struggle and then the finished product which was really cute I love those colors.. How many towels did you have to buy to make it that big?
I always watch the buzzfeed videos and I never wanna try it then I watch yours and I somehow wanna make a big mess at my house this doesn't look that hard I'm not so bad a sewing quick so I think I would take less time.. might try this thanks cutie
Next time try washing the towels first. The dryer should take care of a lot of the fuzzies. I love the colors you chose btw. Thanks for the share. I think Im gonna try and do as much as I can on my machine.
Just wait until you forget a F'n PIN and step on it... 😳 prolly should just hot glue it instead of using pins but that's just my opinion. I love how this turned out.. you did a great job sewing for someone who doesn't!
You say 3 colors total but what is the number of towels total you used? I want to gauge how many to purchase for a BIG one. I want it double the size of yours 🤔
The new camera looks really good but you should get an external mic. Most Cannon cameras don't have the best sound quality and it isn't a big deal because it isn't awful but overall this was a really good video
Don't take this as a criticism of your own work, I think you and Lindsay did fantastic - it's just that to me, it seems like there's no way this thing will stay in one piece? The thread was way too thin and the stitches too far spaced to handle the weight of the terry cloth. Especially considering that it's a mat, meaning that it gets stepped on all the time - more pressure on the stitches - and it will have to be washed in a washing machine at some point too - even more pressure and stress on the stitches.
I just found your channel while searching about instant ramen (idk how until now I find it because it's not the first time I search instant ramen). I saw some of your videos and I love them... but 30 seconds into this video and I'm wondering if it's the same channel or I accidentally clicked on how to basic? I was scared what was going to happen with the camera equipment lol. Still enjoyed this video
One of the best things about his videos is that he give realistic time frames. 14 hours to do this for a normal person. I'd like to know that before I commit to making a rug.
14 hours for someone without a sewing machine. It'd shave like half the time off of it with a machine, probably.
daisycannon the strips look really thick, probably wouldn't be too good for your sewing machine but would probably save some time.
Maybe. I think it would be fine if you use a denim or canvas needle and put some tissue paper between the toweling and your sewing foot. Also use a long stitch to accommodate the bulkiness.
You cannot sew through four layers of towelling on a standard home-sewing machine.
I guess I didn't watch the video closely enough, because I didn't realize there was ever a time he was sewing through 4 layers of toweling.
Cam quality is great but audio is too low , have to crank it all the way up
Mayuresh Pednekar yea
Same to me Mayruresh
Reena Gao agreed
You cant help but love the flannel shirt
Sound quality isn't that good....
A lot of people complaining, but I really like this video. It felt same as a recipe video, only with different materials. David hasn't changed for worse imho

I'm waiting for the next video when David gets a mic and sarcastically says "Thank you to all the people who told me the sound quality is bad."
this is the prettiest looking buzzfeed thing you’ve ever done
Is it me or the sound was very low?
Lashaye V The sound was very low
Lashaye V yeah I have headphones and they were all the way up and it sounds really low still
+Clorox Bleach Good, I’m not the only one. At the beginning I thought my headphones where broken.
The way this one started >< I was so scared it was going to turn into 'How To Basic' and I'm not ready for more of that in my life. Loved this video~
first 40 seconds = pure porn
So glad you are back to making videos! Love that you keep it so real. xoxo
Such a good tutorial! I watched loads by people who are 'experts', before I got to you. Thank you for breaking it down & keeping it real!

Love it! :) glad you're back and doing whatever you want !
Amazing video! I am thinking about making it myself. Now I have to get prepared a whole day of my life to make a DIY towel rug. :)
I ALWAYS WATCHED HIS VIDEOS WITH A LOW VOLUME AND I WAS ALWAYS UNDER THE IMPRESSION HE HAD AN ENGLISH ACCENT AND I FINALLY TURNED IT UP AND IM SHOOK

Thank you for being honest about the length of time the rug took!
HES BACK❤️

OMG it looks so good in the end!! I think it's worth it
I really liked the colors you used. Good job.
I LOVE that you make Thteadbanger refrences. the bath mat turned out awesome. can't wait to see more videos.
Why is everyone saying the sound is low? can anyone else hear it perfectly fine?
Nope it's very low 😅
MeiWebbify it’s fine but it’s kind of too low he’ll need a mic
The shade thrown at Rachel ray added 10 years to my lifespan
...whyyy should I go buy a rug when I can clearly buy towels, shred them, stitch them, and spend 14 hours in making this andddd making my entire room look like I butchered chickens there! Awesome! 😏 and this is why I love this guy!
omg yesterday I was wondering if I should do it and thanks to you I will, thank you
"Every little hair strand out of place"
*brings hair close to the camera...
*literally no strands out of place. XD

I absolutely love you! You are a real person doing diy bath mat and showing your struggle and then the finished product which was really cute I love those colors.. How many towels did you have to buy to make it that big?
TBH you had something with buzzfeed everyone loved it and I'm honestly missing it
I always watch the buzzfeed videos and I never wanna try it then I watch yours and I somehow wanna make a big mess at my house this doesn't look that hard I'm not so bad a sewing quick so I think I would take less time.. might try this thanks cutie
love it! How many towels did you end up using?
My grandma used to make braided rugs from fabric scraps, but I never thought of toweling.
YAYYYYYY FLANNEL SHIRTS ARE BACK
Next time try washing the towels first. The dryer should take care of a lot of the fuzzies. I love the colors you chose btw. Thanks for the share. I think Im gonna try and do as much as I can on my machine.
i think you need a better mic, the sound is very quiet! :)
When do you remove the pins? Once it's coiled? I don't get it. I just imagine myself stepping on them and hurting myself :/
I was thinking of making this, so thanks for testing it out!
boi he's back by popular demand .............
You're overwhelmed, jaidenanimations was underwhelmed.... why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?
LovesTwilightSaga1 😂
Nice editing in the beginning!
Loved this, love you 💜
YOUR DIMPLESSSSSSSS 😍😍😍😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're amazing, David :)
the sound was all the way up and still wasn't loud enough
Just wait until you forget a F'n PIN and step on it... 😳 prolly should just hot glue it instead of using pins but that's just my opinion. I love how this turned out.. you did a great job sewing for someone who doesn't!
👍👍 nice and simple instructions

Loving your video 😍

ILY DAVVVIIIIID
That ASMR at the beginning. 😍
When David is one of your favorite TH-camrs and you just want a reply, but you know that TH-camrs usually don't reply to comments :'(
14hrs + $20 in towels + $10 other supplies or you could just go BUY a rug..... this makes me laugh 😂
For those who have experiences how's the 80D?
the sounds needs improvement. had to use my headphones to hear.
"It looked like we were slaughtering chickens" Azealia Banks ?
that part made me laugh
NOTIFICATION SQUAD 😂😭🗣
Stay Tipsy my friends 😂🙌🏽
The new camera looks really good but you should get an external mic. Most Cannon cameras don't have the best sound quality and it isn't a big deal because it isn't awful but overall this was a really good video
Do you leave the pins in? Isn't that dangerous? DX Glad you're back and running, David!
Jan Kim no he said he took them out. and he sewed it together at the end so no need for pins then.
shade will never die lol
Greetings, Young Sheldon!
You should try the Bacon Shot Glasses that Threadbanger done!!
you didn't post any of Lindsey's links in the description
THAT SHADE
How many towels did you use??
