    I have always wanted to learn how to do this without having to do an adult apprenticeship. This is as close as I am going to get. Thank you.

    Hi mate, just came across your channel, pretty cool and a market for this stuff on TH-cam. What's the go do you do this stuff for a living on people's properties or something? Awesome stuff, also you look young, is that young fella your son? Have subscribed and look forward to more vids 👍

    • @big_gypsea_life
      @big_gypsea_life  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      hi, I'm 35 so not that young anymore, n yep my son, runs around n owns the job. N yep I'm a carpenter n just about to head around Australia so I'll be doing jobs as I go, hopefully pick up a bit in northern WA. I've got a heap more videos to come because I'm building this steel framed cabin for my dad n I've filmed a fair bit of it. thankyou for subscribing.

    Just wondering what brand of hair straightener do you use?

      GHD of course lol, just kidding just how my hair is, mostly a lack of care actually.

    Great vid! I'm just about to start a similar project and looking at prefab vs building a steel frame. What's your prefered brand for self assembly?

    • @big_gypsea_life
      @big_gypsea_life  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends what gauge framing you need to use and price, bluescope from Lysaghts is probably the most affordable which is what was used in my video but the nog system is slow and crap, unless you used bottom track instead of nog track for the nogs which I would do next time. Rondo brand is probably the best quality and has an easy to use nog track but it's pricey.

      @@big_gypsea_life Awesome. Thanks for that. Working on a few different floor plans at the moment but probably around the 3x14 size.

    • @big_gypsea_life
      @big_gypsea_life  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This particular cabin is 3.6mtr wide outside to outside, I mean pending floor layout going anything under 3mtr wide I think would feel fairly narrow. On small builds I normally spray paint it out on the ground to get a feel for sizes in reality instead of just on plans.

    Awesome ! I never seen a cabin framed up with steel before, Pretty cool but probably double the cost of wood ? Do what you have to do so the bugs don't eat it :)

    • @big_gypsea_life
      @big_gypsea_life  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeh the termites are brutal here, and yep steel is about 25% more expensive than timber but it is what it is, and I've only got hardwood for milling and its just not viable for framing.

    • @littlegriffoffgridalberta6837
      @littlegriffoffgridalberta6837 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@big_gypsea_life Oh ok well 25% is not that bad as it will last for ever, Termites won't eat it :)

    • @big_gypsea_life
      @big_gypsea_life  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly right, peace of mind is worth 25% I think

    • @big_gypsea_life
      @big_gypsea_life  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At the moment steel wall framing is around $7 L/M, but it's forever going up.
