I'm the singer in a Death metal band and i have to say that GWAR was a big influence to me. I was hoping to go see them live when they came to Detroit MI. It was always one of my goals to meet Dave Brockie but i guess that's not gonna happen, but i don't give a shit ODERUS LIVES FOREVER!!!
I got to meet Brockie once, he was the sweetest, chillest "Rock Star" I ever met. He didn't know me,and yet treated me as if we had been friends for years.
Dave Brockie was a scholar and a gentleman. I wrote to him after seeing Gwar live in 2009 and asked him to do the album artwork for my then bands EP, he wrote back the next day agreeing to do it for a mere $200. Forever loved and missed.
Say what you want about GOPers and conservatives, but I don't remember CNN or MSNBC having Oderus on. The fact Fox did, numerous times, gives them a soft spot in my heart and a level of respect that my political ideas shouldn't allow.

I'd been aware of GWAR and it's uniquely bizarre brand of entertainment ever since the 80's when MTV still played music videos. You just seriously can't replace the entertainment factor of guys like Oderus very easily, and especially not in the factory produced, cookie cutter popularity contest that is the modern music industry where everyone is way too focused on being hip and cool. Not too many people in this day and age want to just throw themselves into the realm of ridiculousness and make people laugh so hard like Oderus.

I perform as a scare actor and every year the production company makes new costumes but after just a few days they begin to smell. After roughly five days the smell becomes unbearable but there's only so much they can do; they can't really wash most of the pieces so you just hose them down with Lysol and keep going.

He did have a drug "problem", and just yesterday they made a statement saying he od'd from heroin. Very sad, but he will always be remembered.
