    Thanks bud. Just repaired my own. This video and the one about belt replacement really helped. Just a warning to others. Rear mounting brackets and back plate a supportive and all screws need to be replaced. Do not apply to much pressure on the main housing when these are off. You will likely bend or warp things. Thanks again

    Thanks for the video Jan. My bearing strip was completely worn through and dissapeared. Ordered the part from Biljoens.

    Thanks Jan,
    I also carefully scrutinized this video for a close-up on the on /off switch for wiring detail, but you skimmed over it way fast to really make out anything. Any help on the on /off switch wiring detail will help lots, please!

    Thanks boet. Helpful video. Busy with the same but I was sold a long white flat braided “rope” to use as a bearing and no idea how to fasten it. Also that round-flat washer when I finished stripping I had two left over and no clue how they go in.

      @@cjbosman9002 no sorry. I never did. Finished the job. Ran the machine for a while and then the bearing came apart again and totaled the machine.

    Hi Jan,
    Do you perhaps know the order and way the nuts and spacers have to go around the center bolt that holds the drum?

    Hi Jan! Lekker video. Got the same dryer. Mine made a noise to a point that it doenst turn now. Can hear the motor is suffering. Where can I get those strips from Jan? Should I replace the bearing also seeing that it's open?

    • @JanDuToit
      @JanDuToit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First try just the strips. They are made to wear out.
      Here in Pretoria I buy from Van Biljoens or Tecsa. But you can buy spares directly from Defy repair centres and I assume they are across country.

    • @TheOnlyNexen

      @@JanDuToit Sadly my motor is broken. There is a lot of play on the pulley or axle. As if the bush or bearing it runs on is seized. So gonna get a price on a motor, should be cheaper as a new one. The strips I'll also replace. Not as bad as yours but some wear. The back bearing feels fine. Gonna clean it in soap and water, dry and re grease. Sadly this tumble dryer doesn't have a tensioner which could keep the belt still or take the strain of the axle. I remember it would make a noise going only the one direction and was quiet while going the other direction. Will let you know how it goes.

    Thanks Jan. We heard the scraping noise for some time and when we realised that the drum had dropped a little at the back, the aluminium lip of tthe dryer door was torn a strip off. We want to know should we get a replacement box/ frame, or can it be welded with some type of aluminium welding.

    Hi Jan do you have pictures of the wiring leading to the motor from the timer as my belt came off and pulled the wiring off the connector (three plugs)

    • @JanDuToit
      @JanDuToit  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really sorry to hear this. Unfortunately I installed my drier on a rack at eye level. So to take it off is going to be a real pain and I really don't have the time for that now. Sorry.
      I can try and guess the three wires will probably be a supply, load and neutral. This may be marked on the timer. The supply will feed from the on/off switch or the door switch or directly from the cable coming from your wall socket. The neutral will come from the cable coming from your wall socket and the load will go to the motor. If you want to send me pics you can do it at jandtoitx10@gmail.com and I will have a look for you.

    Hi Jan,
    Thanks for the video.
    Any ideas of how you would mount this type of TumbleDryer against the wall.
    Overseas dryers come with brackets to do that.
    Your thoughts please?

    Morning Jan. When you put back the drum and the shaft is sticking out at the back. Where do I put the spacer? Between the drum and the back cover, or on the back cover together with the bearing?

    Thank you for the video... I just had a repair man come out to look at my kelvinator tumble dryer which is leaving black marks on the clothes.... The repairman said its the bearing strips and when he replaced the strips for other customers it never lasts... As the glue he uses wears out...he even tried superglue and it also did not hold. He told me to throw away the tumble dryer.... After seeing your video... How long do the strips last and do you use glue.... Wondering if the repair guy perhaps is wrong

    • @JanDuToit

      The bearings clip in, no glue required.

    You don't show how you took out the bolt. One side of the bolt is smooth. How do you loosen or tighten something like that. Lots of detail missing from the assembly

    You didnt fit the two spacer washers back and front of bearing its 2x washers with a shoulder on washer that press against the bearing then you can tighten that bolt to its fullest it wont stop drum from turning because the rear spacer washer and front spacer washer pushes the inside rim on bearing and it runs on bearing, if you tighten the nut tight and the drum doesnt turn you have forgotten the one spacer washer with lip on inside to press against bearing back and front
